RE: GM Integrated Brake Controller

On ours ('11 2500HD) it is instant and we have the gain set to slightly lead the truck...trailer has never bumped us during braking.

It's a good road -- we take it a couple of times a year.

RE: Diesel MPG?

On our truck (GMC Sierra extended cab SRW Diesel) we get 11-14 while towing (trailer is approx. 11,000 lb) and average 16.5 in mixed city/highway driving.
When we tow it is always in tow/haul mode.
Now if I measure it as pure highway miles (not towing) I have seen 20+ but that's not thew real world.

RE: using UPS mail forwarding

Used a UPS store (Nevada) for 5 years without a hitch.
Would e-mail them where & when & how I wanted mail forwarded and it would just happen. They were great.

RE: Use anti-sway bar when truck has built-in anti-sway system?

Depends and there if there is any doubt or concern or question then use sway bars and a WD hitch.
The trucks (ours does as well) are not anti-sway but sway control. The bars are designed to prevent sway rather than detect and control it.
In our case -- we have a heavy trailer (11,000 lb) and about 12% on the hitch; trailer is 3-axle. We also have plenty of capacity on the truck side and do not use a WD -- I have weighed and measured the truck, trailer and hitch weights.
We have only noticed sway once -- that was going downhill, around a curve, on a wet road and it happened when the engine brake kicked in. Whether it was the truck doing its thing or my manually applying the trailer brakes it was a non-incident.
We don't experience sway when semis pass us either.
Even the DW has no problems driving with the trailer (only with backing up).

RE: Fun and Games at Flying J

We stop at and use FJ's as well as most of the majors except T/A's which in general have been in the worst condition of any of them.
We only use the truck diesel lanes though and not any of the amenities...on occasion we will park for a 1-2 hour break before hitting the road again.

RE: Airstream......??

Because they are!
We went from class A's (last was a 4-slide DP) to our A/S and couldn't be happier.
That being said, we also changed our lifestyle from 9-12,000 mi/year of travel to less than 4,000 and from being on the road 50%+ of the time to about 6-8 (1-2 week) trips/year.
We really love our A/S and the only complaints/improvements would be more exterior storage and more space in the toilet area.

RE: Kansas to California

When they are forecasting these winds they are usually stronger in the afternoon than the early morning. Also, slow down.
May shouldn't be much of a problem and the greatest potential for wind will probably be the descent over the Cajon Pass on the I15.

RE: Fantastic vent cover? .

On our last rig we had 2 FF's and put a cover on each as we spent a lot of time in wet weather and it allowed us to keep the vents open without the fans running.
On our current rig we only placed it over the bath fan.
IMHO the only difference is that @ high fan speeds it is a little louder.

RE: tonneau cover

We have the GM hard cover on ours. Keeps everything in the bed clean & dry.
Rarely have a need to get to the far back of the bed so it works well for us.

the 3.73 works well with the diesel...we love ours and our trailer is just over 11,000 lbs fully loaded.

RE: Snake Another Coxial, Roku Box, or What?

If you go the Roku route, why bother with DTV? We dumped our sat & cable TV and just use a Roku now and haven't missed them -- or the prices.
I have a quick review on my blog.

RE: Creating a blog - hard to do or not ?

If you ever plan on leveraging your blog to sell stuff you might want to consider a paid for service rather than a free service.
While I con't currently have and for sale items on my blog, I have sold quite a bit of stuff over the years.

Shooting Sports - what you take with you & where you go

Just recently started getting into shooting for sport (more on my blog) and was wondering - for those with a similar interest - what gear do you take when you travel and if you have any favorite spots that you'd like to share.
I've posted mine on my blog and would like to keep expanding this to include more areas.

Does anybody enjoy shooting (sports) while on the road?

Just curious as to how many of you go to a range when you're on the road? Also, what you carry and how often you shoot.
You can also check out my choices as well as list of ranges on my blog.
