Hi. I had a Ford F-150(1975) first year the F-150's were introduced to Johe Q. Public. Pulled a TT(23'), Tent(13'), and then a 5th whl(23'). over 300,000+m. Donated it to pacific southwest R/R museum, campo in 2002 still going. Replace it with a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500hd, V-10 some 254,000+m and still going. Now it pulls a 31' 5th whl. Pac coast to Atl. coast twice, Pac N/W 70+ times, plus hundreds of local pulls. Still a great puller.

RE: Shocking subject

Hi. After I took off the OEM shocks I could never find an after market set I was happy with. The last set was on sale at pet boys. So far there is 7000 miles on them and still seem to be holding up ok. After about 25,000 miles ther are change out. I have a V-10 and the front end is a bit heaver than the V-8's. Shock keeps braking off lower R/S ring weld.

RE: Large family looking for 5th wheel recommendations

Hi. In the past the RV industary produce a bunkhouse model. If they still do? A toy box my afford some help. You didn't mension the ages or how many of which. The bigger they are the more room they will take up. You are looking for a 30' plus rig, and a 1-ton puller(crew-cab).

Hi. I to am an owner of a V-10/488ci. 1996 Dodge Ram 2500hd, 8,800lbs rated, with 253,000+ org. miles. Problem area trans., & brakes. Trans. is now aamcos problem, brakes well they are still mine, but working on it. After 253,111 miles I need have the rear axel overhauled. And I'm installing limited slip as part of the repair. Hi. Be careful what you read. He never stated the yr. of his tk. Depending on what state the tk. was slated to be sold. They also have rules on how the tk. is equip. Cal. has 30 gal. limit. The low fill lite on my '96 2500hd, V-10, oem set at 7 gls. replacements f/p is 11.0 gls.

RE: Moving from gas to diesel TV: What will be different?

Hi. Read op-manual cover to cover first. Warm up engine (10-15 min.) before putting a load on TK., and cool down (Idle) after you complete the days run (10-15 min.) stopping. Watch for fuel delusion. Care and maintebance is more. Never go below a 0.250 tk. of fuel.

RE: Electric Stabilizer Question

Hi. Remember your are in an RV. There will be some movement. Its like being on a boat. I would assume the term "Stabilizer" is just that. Stabilizing the RV. They are not anchors. You keep binding the Stabilizers there are going to quit. Yon mat want to get RV stands to help.

RE: New Truck which would you choose and why?

Hi. You mension you were going to get a toy hailer, W/O saying anyting about the size. Most any 2500 to 3500hd will handle 30ft Ok. MFR! Your choice! Above a 30' you have a may want to give a 4500 some though. Weight issues. Most states have 26,000lbs limit DL's. Stopping a pulled vehical differs form that of a carrying (M/H) type. You may want to consider a air ride type hitch easer on you and the Veh.

RE: 2009 GMC Savana 1 ton brakes

Hi. I have very seldom seen any advertiser talk about the stopping capabilities of their products. They will thump there chests about there great pulling ability. Speed limit is 55mph in most all states. But! You still have to deal with the motoring public, theres the real challange. You were experencing brake fad. Heating up of the brake pads and rotors. Watch out for heat checking of rotors. I change my rotor to the groved and cross drilled style, an the best pads I could find. Was big improvement. Bul! Not a complete answer.

RE: Wiring in the truck bed.

Hi. With out knowing what truck you have. Question: Is there a hole in the left corner of T/B? Two small holes for plug socket support about 8" a (forward) head L/corner just below the bed rail is where is installed my RV pig tail socket. Go to local RV store and get copy of plug wiring sheet. I would get a 12 v trouble check light. And turn or the HL's a ck eack of each wire for rear marler/run lite, Set E/brake (NO START), turn key, put in R to find b/p lite, with key still on then r and l turn. Ground is a lrg white, blue is brake and most likey brown B/UP. Most T/V have 7 pin plug. Now!

RE: generators

Hi. I wouldn't store a gas filled generator in any closed compartment. For the most part I carry the gen. and made a lock down device in the bed of my TV. I did put a receiver and made a carrier for a smaller gen. which double for a bike carrier.

RE: Very poor braking power on new Alpine fifht wheel

Hi. I to have an alpinelite 96 31rl aguesta. It to is a little lite on braking. Equip. w/2 7000lbs rated axels (total 14,000lbs 5th/w 13,000lbs. almost out of weight limit. The 245-16s (3,025 x4 =12,200) L/R-E tires are out of the weight class. But this is what the 5th/w came with. Was going to look into the 8,000 dexter axels next year. w/ disc brakes. Found L/R G tire Goodyear 614 2 on board now 2 to follow.

RE: my head hurts ( pin weight calculation )

Hi. There should be a lable plate / sticker somewhere on you trailer. sot side near the landing gear or on or in a cabnet. thers plates should provide all the information you will need to answer your question. that is before "you add" anything to the trailer.
