RE: 04' 4winds 5000 mystery switch

I have a 06 Four Winds 5000 24T. My tank heater switches are on the wall next to the rear corner bed. My battery disconnect switch is on the side of the cabinet in the door entry. I have a switch on my dash that will send power to the engine battery to jump start it if it is low. I know that different floor models are set up differently, but that switch could control one of those items.

RE: Considering a Used "C"

I was lucky on the weight rating. My 26' is the smallest Class C Four Winds built on the E450 chassis. The next size smaller is on the E350 chassis. I have the same chassis as the 31 footers, but without the long rear overhang and the added weight. If special ordering a motor home, for a nominal fee, some RV manufactures will build a small E350 model using an E450 chassis. The price difference is $3000-$4000 last I recall. But understand there is potential for a rougher ride. You are correct. It does ride pretty stiff when I am unloaded and not towing anything. But, I am always dragging something behind me when we go camping. Either our 20' boat, or the Jeep on a trailer. Another reason I am happy for the configuration I ended up with. Towing the toys smooths the ride right out!

RE: Considering a Used "C"

We rented both class A and C before we made our decision. For us, we just liked the way the C provides a little more metal protection up front in case of a collision. The wife likes it better too. She did not like the feeling of "sitting behind a sliding glass door". lol As far as new or used, we bought almost new. We bought a 2006 in Feb of 2007 with 11,000 miles on it. It stilled smelled new, but cost a ton less than a new one. It's been problem free ever since. I replaced the original tires this year. I was lucky on the weight rating. RE: Class C and Jeep Towing.

Congrats. A jeep just adds to the fun while camping. Just unhook and go. If I ever grow up, I will probably sell the trailer and my current Jeep. Then I'll get another one, keep it stock, and flat tow it all over the country!!

RE: Class C and Jeep Towing.

Yes, the larger tires do make a difference in tire life. But every mile the motorhome makes, the Jeep has to make too. On a stock Jeep, that was fine. I bought the Jeep stock. It was a great toad. Then, I joined a local Jeep club and started to modify it. With the larger tires, I would get some cupping on the front. I rotated them frequently to minimize it. Alignment is also checked often. On the trails we run now, there is also a good chance that I could break something, and not be able to flat tow it home. Another reason I chose to buy a trailer. To answer the question above, the trailer is a 2006 PJ 18' dovetail trailer. It has brakes on both axles. I picked it up used for $1800.00.

RE: Class C and Jeep Towing.

I have towed my 2004 Wrangler all over behind our 2006 26' Four Winds E450 with the V10. I flat towed it for a few years without any problems before I bought a car hauler. I've never actually kept track of the mileage, but it seems like I went through less gas when I flat towed. I went through a couple sets of expensive tires, and was always a bit weary of not having a braking system. So, for less than another set of Jeep tires and brake buddy, I bought the trailer. We can also take the Wife's car, if we do not want to go exploring (although that has not happened yet!) http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj238/pinkeye_photos/naches%207%2018%2009/DSCN2119-1-1.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj238/pinkeye_photos/Memorial%20Day%2011/DSCN2527.jpg
