RE: Old u haul truck for towing

I am thinking of useing a 1995 f350 box truck to tow my 26 ft. TT. Has anyone seen this or thoughts on this. Its a old U Haul truck. plenty of power tow cap. 7500 lbs. Will have to come up with new bumper for hitch.:h I'm sure it will work well for you, but asking someone here who has just maxed out his credit card, put a second loan on his house and bought a new 4x4, diesel, six passenger pickup, with every extra known to man on it, can not answers or relate to what you are trying to do.

RE: Is Quartsite the place to be?

My friends from high school are in east Mesa, they say they start drinking, dancing, about 5 and don't stop until they go to bed. This sound like a park that might meet your needs.

RE: Wisconsin repeals fee for train pulls

A couple weeks ago I received a letter from the Wisconsin Dept of Transportation advising me that the law requiring people who pull a boat, ATV or other toy behind their fifth-wheel or travel trailer has been repealed. We are still limited to the total length to 65 feet or less plus the camper must be equipped with brakes...So if your 75 years old you should be able to pull a longer load than that, if you do please post the hwy's you will be on so I can stay home or take another road.

RE: Are duallies much more stable than singles ?

Our new 5'ver is pretty heavy and when on the highway it'll sway a bit when a truck goes by or crosswind's come in to play. Thinking of selling current truck and buying a dually or convert current truck to one.Are you planning on the one bale or two bale model?

RE: Gas mileage

I have to admit...I'm a lurker. I was browsing the fifth wheel forum and someone had asked about gas mileage. What about hauling a TC? How big a difference does it make? Just wondering. I'm thinking of get a rubber gas tank, my mileage is so good on level ground my tank run over unless I start climbing hills shortly after filling up.

RE: Utah highway 62

Planning a trip through southern Utah this September. We will visit Capitol Reef, then go to Bryce canyon. I have been on Highway 12 through Escalante, which is a beautiful drive, but a little hairy for the faint of heart in a few parts. My friends will be pulling a 31 foot trailer and wish to avoid this route. How is Highway 62 from the 24 to the 89?Pulled it with my S/C 1/2 very easy, but I don't know if a diesel would have to power to do it as well?

RE: Two 5th wheels at once.

Just take the bed off his pickemup and install a real fifth wheel hitch. Then you can tow a double bottom gravel train during the week and when you get a weekend off, hit the road with your fifth wheel RV. No use wasting all that power during the week and you can get paid for it also.Maybe I'll pull a double transfer for a month or two to get ready for summer pulling in the mountains. Thanks, great idea.

RE: Was not aware that RV factory workers paid piecemeal v. hourly

On another thread, several mentioned that factory workers at most RV plants are paid piecemeal rather than an hourly wage...is this seriously the case? Seems that would give waaaaaaaaaay too much incentive to get it done slapdash and, worse, to--knowing you haven't done the job right--letting it keep moving down the line rather than slowing or stopping the line (which, presumably, would enrage all your co-workers further down the assembly line, since slowing/stopping means THEY can't get as many pieces done and therefore THEIR paychecks are also affected)...
along the same lines, what authority do QC inspectors have, and how do THEY get paid? Can they order something ripped out and re-done, or just direct that shoddy work be corrected to make it functional rather than perfect? If the QC people get paid the same way, seems like they would have the same incentives to send it out onto the market regardless of whether the unit's been put together properly
this whole 'piecemeal' thing is news to me, and kinda hard to believe it's done that way
don't car factories--which in concept are doing a similar thing by taking in components and assembling them--pay by the hour?If you went hour your RV would be 2 years old before it made it to the end of the line.

RE: Possible boondocking spot

Yesterday we took 7 rvers to Lago de Camecuaro, just outside of Zamora. It was truly a beautiful place. A small national park consisting of hundreds of small springs that formed a very clear little lake. Hundreds of old cypress trees that are a couple thousand years old. Great for birdwatching. Not so busy through the week, busier on weekends.
The person who runs the place said that rvers can park there, inside the park overnight for 20 pesos per person. They do lock the gates at 10 pm and there is a guard there who doesn't open up again till about 9 am, but it is is an alternative if you happen to be between our place and Patzcuaro. There are also a few food and fruit vendors inside for meals. It was not crowded on a Tues, but we were told weekends are quite busy. Small rigs would have no trouble at all parking inside the park, it might be more tricky for large rigs. No hookups. There is a large parking lots outside the park, but not sure if it is an option.
Lago de Camecuaro is located on highway 15 on the Patzcuaro side of the Jacona-Zamora bipass, don't go thru Zamora unless you want to see the city which has a beautiful cathedral. There are signs for the lake coming from us in Jalisco, no sure about signs coming from Patzcuaro. Coordinates are 19 54 8 N and 102 12 36 WWe had good friends who traveled in that area, we miss them, they had a great time until they left.

I love his hair. I have watch to show on TV twenty or thirty times. Could you tell me if anyone else ever watch it to.
I've seen it at least a dozen times....
Can't you tell by my Vast Scientific knowledge? http://www.irv2.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
I'd explain how the flux capacitor in the engine works, but at the moment my capacity is in flux....
Also thanks to "Doc with the cool hair", I know everything there is to know about Time Travel, but wouldn't want to throw the thread off topic by explaining it.
Have we made any headway in solving your "4x4x4x2x4x3x8x8xE=MC²x?" dilemma?Your right, back to trading in my 4x4 sport car for a 2x4 conv. V-12 car. Remember no one needs a 4x4 pickup let alone a 4x4 car.

RE: boondocking is boondocking

Excuse me for butting in or being picky or whatever but it seems to me that we need to coin a new word for staying overnight in a parking lot. I have nothing against doing so if it's what you want but boondocking referrs to boondocks and in my vocabulary that means out in the backcountry. how about urbancamping or overnighting.Correct, or cheap works to.
