RE: LP GENERATORS

I know on my Onan,it uses a special large volume low preasure regulator, because a standard RV regulator will not supply enough volume, ask your dealer if it has the correct regulator,I run mine from a single bottle in all temperatures and have never had any issues.

RE: Revived Trailer Tire Thread (formerly on the 5th Wheel Forum

Very good info here, some I knew, some (of what I suspected was correct), was right, and I learned alot of new,and a very short conclusion would be,staying in that 85% capacity, that's why the over 10,000 (11-11500)lb. 5vers have a lot more failures,as there are a lot less capable tires in that range, lets face it,even a set of E rated China STs (in the 3400lb range) on a 1500lb car trailer hauling 1000lb of lawn mowers at 70+ mph at 80psi in 100 deg. heat would probably last 20 years! But if everything is at almost maxed at just 60mph at 80psi,hauling 13000lb,in 85deg, weather, there is just NO room for ERROR....again Thanks for coming back Capriracer.

RE: what is your break controller set for

Leave mine on 10 for the fiver, way lower for HT and CT trailers,it seems the "quicker" the stop, the harder it stops, and at easy braking it does not stop as hard, heard other Ford guys with the integrated controller say the same, was a little hard to get used to...until you had to stop in a hurry a few times, and it stopped great.

RE: Might as well ban them all

That sure was one of the best threads on that subject I've ever read......Too bad we won't get to hear the whole thing from someone with a great amount of knowledge, and with the help of a few of our own here........Thanks Mod. I would have liked being able to read what he had already posted but I guess that's not possible now. The one I'm talking about is still there to read just closed......st vs.lt

RE: Do you suppose that RV manufactures...

Awhile back I saw a really great 5ver at a show and was really impressed with it,I made some very good coments on the 5ver site about the quality and construction...a few days later I got PM from the CEO of the company for the kind words of their product....yes some of them listen.

RE: Is a voltage regulator needed?

I have a small volt gauge that tells the volts and cycles constantly,if it falls too low or goes too high the alarm sounds and let's you know, they are about 20.00,plug it in at the pole first, before hook up,then just leave plugged in in living room, any voltage problems you know about it.

RE: Camco Wheel Stop?

You can buy the good steel bal-chock style for about 12.00 more than the plastic one and it comes with a ratchet tool with it,if your cheap make your own wood ones or pay 12 bucks more than the camco and get a good ratcheting steel type...JMO!

RE: RV Show today....Where is the creativity and innovation?

We were at the Pittsburgh show and saw some great new ideas, but in the larger units, one of the reasons there isn't as many smaller units being built I think is price and demand...I look at a cheasy little 17' TT and they want 22.000.00 for it! Or you can buy a nice 28' TT with a super slide and 34" flat screen for that price! Sure you need the bigger TV to pull it,but most people want the most bang for their buck...JMO

RE: Ordred a Palomino Columbus today

Hey...Congrats! I know you were looking everywhere for all the info on that unit!Make sure and get 2-3 brochures for it,as when we were waiting for our Sabre,we wore 2 of them out looking at the pics!I"m sure you"ll like it,if it is anywhere as nice as your Sabre,as I know you really had good luck with it.I saw all the pics. online,it really looks like a great unit! Keep us posted....still laughing about the "Champion cover!" Jack

RE: WOO HOO new fifth wheel inmy future

Made a similar change a few years back, was a great move, wait until you pull it the first time...it's very stable no sway or trucks pushing the trailer around, you'll love it...don't be afraid to ask questions. If you are all confused about all the hitches, just get a Reese pro slidebar style, simple and "idiot proof",when the bar slams shut, you are hooked,no second guessing...JMO,Enjoy your new rig! Thanks for the advice. One more question for you, I see your pulling with a V-10, well I have the same year, make and model as you, (06 F-250 V-10) How much weight are you pulling and how does it handle it? Ive been pulling around 7000 lbs and you cant even tell its back there, bit it sits a lot lower in the air then a fifth wheel. My new rig dry weighs at 10,010 lbs and has a gross capacity of 14,000. I'm right at 11,200 loaded,(dry 9842)and it does a great job, plenty of power and get about 8.7-9.2 mpg at 62mph,(no BIG mountains)my Cougar 29'TT was about 8000 loaded, you"ll notice it feels a lot heavier but,the handling is so good it's really easy to pull, great looking unit you have.....you"ll enjoy it alot!

RE: Ford F250 V10 Engine

As posted above,the early 2V V-10 does not have the power of the 3V V-10,(362hp,457tq)the V-10 will pull it,but the early 250s about 04 and back) don't have the carrying cap.of the later trucks,my 5ver loaded is 11,200,and I'm under all my ratings,and it does a great job,the earlier V-10,less cap.,and 4000lb +heavier 5ver,I don't think you'll be very happy with that combo...Jack

RE: New members and the real value of this forum

I really enjoy this forum, and have learned alot, and after being on here a few years,I just know most of the time which threads to just skip over and not even bother to open,I am very well noted for not being politically correct, and could care less, but I am considerate and don't post a lot of what I think because so many times it's just not worth giving an opinion to someone that would not get it anyway....you know you can't fix stupid! So I just sit back and watch alot, because if I keep reading a thread, sooner or later someone that thinks just like me, will say what I was going to say anyway...so I just read...enjoy...learn...and IGNORE!
