RE: '02 Chevy 2500HD 8.1L ??'s

Bought mine with 57K on it. Have not had an oil consumption problem when changing it every 2,000 miles. The 8.1/Allison is an awesome combination, making for a great Tow Vehicle that gets 9-10 mpg towing at 55 mph.

RE: Wall Plugs Dont Work? 2010 KZ Spree

The lights are 12VDC; the outlets are 110VAC. Is the RV hooked to 110 volts?

RE: brand name of wheels

Maybe you could post the specs ie diameter, width and stud pattern?
A photo would also be a big help.

RE: Wipers not working, how do I troubleshoot the wiring ?

First thing to check is that you have a good ground connection.

RE: Rough hitch plate

I was cleaning up my B&W hitch plate to re-grease, and noticed some grooving. Nothing real bad, but the paint is getting scratched off.
I looked at the pin box plate, and saw that there is a lot of welding slag spatter on the plate.
Question is...should it be smooth? Should I sand or grind it off?
I didn't think anyone greased their 5th wheel plate anymore. The teflon disc is the way to go. Either way, you need to knock all that slag off the mating surface of the plate and repaint.

RE: Replacing Carrier A/c with remote..

The build/layout on mine made the install pretty easy. The AC ceiling unit is next to a floor-to-ceiling pantry, with the furnace at the very bottom. I mounted the T-stat on the pantry fascia. Then ran a wire from T-stat to the furnace.

RE: Replacing Carrier A/c with remote..

I installed a digital wall mounted thermostat to control the furnace. The brown wire for heat control (from the AC) is connected to the furnace. This can be disconnected and a new wire run from wall mounted thermostat to the furnace. My AC is still remotely controlled and works fine.
The whole thing can be converted to wall mounted thermostat by replacing the ceiling unit (~$200 from the Parts Dept @ PPL Motorhomes)

RE: 5th Wheel vs Travel Trailer

Had them both; I'll stick to my 5er. Easier to hitch and to pull. Also, more camper for same overall rig length.

RE: Water heater question

DSI = Direct Spark Ignition. When operating the water heater on PROPANE, simply throw the DSI switch to light the gas. Lighting the cook stove first will ensure that gas is in the line.
