RE: Camping in Victoria BC Vancouver Island

I stayed at beachcomer for a few months a couple years ago. very happy with it, has power and water and the owners have a honey wagon that they will suck your tank out if you don't want to move your trailer to the dump. right on the ocean, has wifi.
fort victoria is a huge parking lot style rv park, westbay is nice but very pricy and availability can be hard.

a carton of any kind of cigarettes will be $120.00-$180.00.

way out on the price, a pac of smokes in BC is 10 bucks and 10 packs per carton and there is a bit of a discount. so the most expensive a carton is going to be is 100 bucks

amazing no one has mentioned the gas detector or the co detector, and if you have a smoke detector.. also electronics from the apliances, radio ect. all these have a small draw but added up they will pull down a smaller battery in no time.
I remember my old tent trailer with nothing but a propain drtector uses to get low after about 5 days, but the 30 foot trailer with all the toys only took a day or two befor I upgraded the batteries.
first like some have asked how old, what type and have they been pulled below 50 percent a lot of times (for a 12 volt marine type or car type)

RE: Travel Insurance Needed for Canadians in Canada

In B.C., there is a two-month plus waiting period before someone is eligible for the Medical Services Plan. It is not a requirement to be a Canadian citizen, but is a requirement to be a resident of B.C. and lawfully permitted entry into Canada for permanent residence.
actualy that one was reversed.. they brought it in to stop alberta from sending all there homeless people and the flood of welfare recipents which came to BC for the higher rates. the fedreal goverment made them take it off and withheld payments untill they did 3 months after BC started it.
and if you look at any Health plan you are only covered for 30 days when you move to a new province and there for you have to be insured in the new prov with in 30 days of ariving so they were going against the federal rules with that law also.

for the original question of how do we tow with a half ton.
for me I couldn't. I did one trip with my 98 F150 and then traded it on on a 99 F250 7.3
the reason is when I was towing my 7200 lb trailer with the F150 I got a big 9.4MPG (Cdn) and on a grade 8 hill and if I didn't have the peddel to the flooor in a lower gear I couldn't hold 50mph. I got stopped on the way back at the lights at the bottom of that hill and could only get up to 35Mph by the top of it.
so we got the diesel then the next trip we went to the same place. I got 18 Mpg (Cdn) towing the samt trailer, I pourposly stopped at the lights and then went up the hill and at 80mph I had to let off the gas and we still had a long way to go to get to the top.
as a side benifit the ride was a little better also, as the suspendion was stiffer, the truck with more weight the wind buffiting was less noticable and I was less fatigued at the end of a trip.
as for pay back on the investment of the diesel it isn't worth worring about. the diesel gets better miliage empty than my 1/2 ton ever did by about 3 MPG in the city and 7 MPG on the hiw way. I get twice the milage when towing, and diesel is cheeper than gas up here. also I bought a 99 diesel in 2006 so realy I wasn't paying the inflated mark up.
