RE: Switching to a electric fridge - what brand / model

A cooling unit replacement is far less costly than a whole RV Fridge replacement. Not all that diffucult do replace. If you care too, google search will have instructions.

RE: How long to cool down - Dometic 2852??

always check Temp... using a thermometer inside a glass filled with water. Frequent opening and closing the door exchanges the inside air and can often reflect a highter thermometer temp.

RE: Bent shackle??

IF that axle has come against a Curb... coming out of a parking lot perhaps... the bent spring hanger could have happened at that time.
Carefully check the spring hanger on the other side of the same axle.
It is very Possible to bend both sides of the frame.

RE: Replacing Fridge W/ A "Home Fridge" Question

Replacing the Cooling Unit in an RV Fridge isn't all that difficult to do. If the Fridge is in good condition, no broken parts inside, I would suggest doing a search on line for installation instructions.

RE: Rock Guard for truck Alaska Dalton Highway !!

I framed one out of 1 inch PVC pipe and 1/4 inch Hardware cloth. It is also called galvanized wire mesh or galvanized screen. I used plastic wire ties to attach the framed and wire mesh to the trucks grill.
The shape depends on where you want the protection. I made it a cover the whole grill and head light area... making it over sized to so it would catch any rocks toward the truck.
I did have a difficult time finding the plastic 90 degree elbows and 45 degree bends while on the route. Finally found a plumbing shop who carried a good supply. Just make it large enough to cover the front of the truck and use some 45 degree bends to protect the head light and turn signals. I protected the trucks chrome grill by using some pipe foam insulation... wrapping the areas where the plastic pipe touched the truck. The hardware cloth or wire mesh is available in most hardware stores or home building centers.
Sorry but no pictures in my hard drive of the computer any longer.

RE: Full-time Insurance

With Full Timers Insurance you will get liability coverage to protect you from any issues that might come up. When you no longer have a home insurance policy, you no longer have liability coverage that comes with a home owners policy. Should someone visit your RV... and have some type of accident...
