High center

We've been pondering upgrading to a MH. I look at many while walking our dog in RV parks.
My question is have anyone out there with MH's ever had a problem high centering your coach? I see many that looks like the clearance between the belly and ground are only 16" or less. On a MH that's 40' or more seems to me could have some problems on rough roads or curbs...etc.
That being said....I do see many on the road.
Just curious.....Thanks.

RE: Heart attack at the Heart Attack Grill?

An old boss of mine used to say...."Boy, Keep your check book balanced....You'll never know when you'll have to pay up".
Take care of the ones you love, and enjoy life!!!
I think more of the young that didn't get to choose.....:(
Bless us all!!!

Moving

We are fulltimers looking to trade up. Not sure if we will go with a MH or another fiver, but are leaning toward the fiver.
My question is how did you guys move from one coach to another while living full time in a R/V?
I thought about renting two sites in a R/V park close to the dealer and have them deliver the new one next to our trade in. We could then take a few days to move from the trade-in to the new one. When we finish moving, then tow the trade-in to the dealer or have them pick it up.
Any ideas from you guys that's been this route would be helpful.
Thanks,

RE: Junk under rubber roof membrane Update

I just can't believe that Jayco wouldn't spend a couple grand to make this right. Heck the photos you've posted has probably already cost them some sales.
Keep after them. The DW and I are looking to upgrade, and the Designer units were on our short list....Not any more!!! Thank-You!!
Keep after them. You won't have a chance in hell to get a decent trade-in or re-sale price if the roof isn't made right.

MH or Fiver for FTer's

We've been FTing for 14 months now and really like it. We started out in our 'not so full timing unit' just to see if we like this life style, and we do.
Now that we are looking to move upward, what's your thoughts on MH's vs Fivers?
We're looking at something around 40 feet.
Thanks for your input.

RE: Junk under rubber roof membrane Update

Hey Steve...I was just wanting to make sure if you go the media route, that they can't come back at you. I don't recommend any lawyers if at all possible.
You might get run over by an ambulance just for looking for one....:B
I still think you have one heck of a case!!!
Good Luck

RE: Junk under rubber roof membrane Update

Panhead
We have a four year old fiver with a 2 foot wrinkle on top. I noticed it about three months after purchase. The dealer for (KZ) took photos and sent to the factory. We haven't had any issues with it.
Having said that, I can't believe what I'm seeing on your pics!!!!
As someone stated earlier, check with a lawyer first, and if it won't come back to bite you, use every media available to post those pics!
Facebook, tweet, newspapers, etc...etc. As much competition as there is in the rv market, I suspect the factory will see it your way and fix it properly.
KEEP AFTER THEM!!!!
Please keep us posted.
Best of luck to you.....

RE: Emergency brake cable

Thanks guys for all the info. I snapped back in place within a couple minutes of it being pulled out, so maybe there's no harm done.

Emergency brake cable

We are FTer's, and won't leave this park until April. When I set up here, and unhitched, the fiver's brake cable hung up between the tail gate and the bed of our tv, and was pulled from its socket. I reinstalled it.
Other than just pushing the connector back in place, is there anything else I need to check before we get back on the road?
Thanks for your input.

RE: Squeeky floor in 2007 32 ft wildcat

We had the same problem at the area just inside the bedroom door. I put a small screw jack in the basement, and added some tension. This solved the problem. I'll remove the jack when we travel, and reinstall when we set up again.
Good luck.........Skip

RE: Heartland Elkridge 35QSQB / Silverado 6.6 diesel 3/4 ton

We are also looking at some Heartland fivers, the Big Horns. We also have a 2007-1/2 Chevy CC. (2500)
If we go that route, I plan on getting 1 ton Chevy wheels (SRW) which are wider. Then I can get the 265 tires that have a larger load rating. I'll also add air bags.
Axles, brakes, bearings, are already the same as a 3500 Chevy 1 ton.
The weight police won't like it, but I can't afford a new truck right now.
Best of luck.......Skip

OP....A little off subject. Why are you going from a DP to a Fiver? I'm looking at doing from a Fiver to a DP.
Thanks,

Doughnut seeds

So, the DW and I had to baby-sit three of our grandkids overnight (ages 6, 4, and 1), so the DS and DIL could go to a function. The kids love snacking on Cheerios cereal.
I told them that they were really doughnut seeds, and we should plant some.
What do you know.....The next morning we had doughnuts for breakfast!!!!
My DS is still saying...."Dad, what have you done?"
It's fun being Papaw......:B

RE: Meat Smokers

Been smoking all kinds of meats for over twenty years. I used to head up a cook-off team for many years. Have since turned over my pits and trailer to my sons.
Last year while staying at a park in Kerrville,TX, I had the good fortune to taste some baby-back ribs that were smoked on a Bradley machine. If I ever buy a pit for smoking again, it will be the Bradley!!!!
It's small enough to store in the fiver, and the ease of this smoker is great. It's a bit pricey, as the one I was looking at was @ $500.
Go for it, and enjoy!!!

RE: Looking to go from fiver to DP

Sunkatcher......Is that $400 per month for insurance?
Also, what about buying new tires, filters, wash and waxes, etc..etc?
Thanks again...
