RE: Squeeky floor in 2007 32 ft wildcat

We had the same problem at the area just inside the bedroom door. I put a small screw jack in the basement, and added some tension. This solved the problem. I'll remove the jack when we travel, and reinstall when we set up again. Good luck.........Skip

RE: Heartland Elkridge 35QSQB / Silverado 6.6 diesel 3/4 ton

We are also looking at some Heartland fivers, the Big Horns. We also have a 2007-1/2 Chevy CC. (2500) If we go that route, I plan on getting 1 ton Chevy wheels (SRW) which are wider. Then I can get the 265 tires that have a larger load rating. I'll also add air bags. Axles, brakes, bearings, are already the same as a 3500 Chevy 1 ton. The weight police won't like it, but I can't afford a new truck right now. Best of luck.......Skip

RE: Doughnut seeds

Ah yes Jim Shoe......However, you must time this event just right. Not much fun in loading them up just to discover that their parents will be home later than planned........:S

RE: Tow vehicle capability

OP....A little off subject. Why are you going from a DP to a Fiver? I'm looking at doing from a Fiver to a DP. Thanks, Skip

Doughnut seeds

So, the DW and I had to baby-sit three of our grandkids overnight (ages 6, 4, and 1), so the DS and DIL could go to a function. The kids love snacking on Cheerios cereal. I told them that they were really doughnut seeds, and we should plant some. What do you know.....The next morning we had doughnuts for breakfast!!!! My DS is still saying...."Dad, what have you done?" It's fun being Papaw......:B

RE: Meat Smokers

Been smoking all kinds of meats for over twenty years. I used to head up a cook-off team for many years. Have since turned over my pits and trailer to my sons. Last year while staying at a park in Kerrville,TX, I had the good fortune to taste some baby-back ribs that were smoked on a Bradley machine. If I ever buy a pit for smoking again, it will be the Bradley!!!! It's small enough to store in the fiver, and the ease of this smoker is great. It's a bit pricey, as the one I was looking at was @ $500. Go for it, and enjoy!!! Skip

RE: Looking to go from fiver to DP

Sunkatcher......Is that $400 per month for insurance? Also, what about buying new tires, filters, wash and waxes, etc..etc? Thanks again...

Looking to go from fiver to DP

Question for you DP owners. We are fulltimers and are looking at used DP MH's, in the $200k range. We travel about 10 to 12k miles per year. What can we expect for expenses to be for average maintenance and insurance? I know the answer to this question may vary, we're just looking for an average. Thanks for your input. Skip

RE: Started install of Pullrite Superglide 5ver hitch

Don't know about Fords, but my '07 Chevy has the trailer harness running thru the driver side frame. Just a word of caution when drilling. Best of luck.... Skip

RE: sad state of affairs.

I was in Houston a short time back at a stop light, when a guy comes up and knocks on my side window. He asked for $5.00 for some gas because he was stranded. Just so happened, I had a 2 ga. gas can full in my truck. I told him to get in and we'll go to your car and I'll give you the fuel. He said....never mind, and walked away. But hey....When you have 53% of working Americans supporting the rest, it supports their way of life....doesn't it!! I'm retired, but stay pretty busy. However, maybe I could take 1 day a week and stand next to the guy "begging" with a sign that reads..."This guy is not real ". Please give me half of what you were going to give him, and I'll keep protecting your $$$$....at least part of it......:B

Have you seen this TV ad?

We usually keep our tv on Fox news. Lately there's been an ad for a quick loan, which seems to be aimed at the nation's American native indians, offering $5000, overnight at over 116% interest! Is this possible, and who would take this kind of advantage of people, who might go this route in desparation? In these days of economic stress, I would like to think, people wouldn't try to treat others this unfairly. Rant over......Thanks

RE: Who wants to show their age!!!

I love it!!!! You guys are great.... I had a paper route that covered about fifty-two homes. I would get the papers, fold them for throwing, put 'em in my canvas shoulder sack and deliver on my "stingray" bike with the banana seat. Couldn't wait for Christmas time when I collected about $25.00 in bonus tips....wooohooo!! I was rich!! Mowed our grass with a rotory push mower..almost an acre...:E Remember games like Rollie bat, King of the hill, Stretch (couldn't afford a knife, so we used an old screw driver), Hide 'n seek, Tag, Rover..Rover..Come on over... Collecting and selling lightening bugs for science research. We got a nickle per one hundred. I was one of the chosen ones to be entered into toothpaste research. Half of us at school were given tubes with fluoride, and the others without, all in a blind test. Nuclear attack drills in the halls at school. Great fun......Keep 'em coming...:B

Who wants to show their age!!!

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!!! Happy New Year to all!! With a new year around the corner, I've been thinking about some years past. I'll start with some memories, and hope you guys will add to the fun. I remember going to the B&W TV to change channels...all three of them, by using a crank style knob. While working in a gas station, I filled the tank, checked the oil and air, not forgetting to clean the windshield. Remember going to bed and leaving the screen doors to provide air at night? How about that crazy looking jack that hooked to the bumper of the car to change a flat. A few others com to mind.... Our family doctor made house calls. Wore jeans with the rolled up cuffs so we could unroll a knotch the next year, instead of buying new. Never....I mean never....played inside when the weather was above freezing. We built tree forts from old discarded lumber. Stole old tires for our $50.00 cars from the back of old gas stations. I'm talking about tires so slick that if you rolled over a dime, you could tell if it was laying heads or tails!!! Sock-Hops Pep rallies Leaving home never to return as a resident. You get the idea...... Let's hear from you guys that are more than a half of a century wiser.....:B

RE: Costs of living in an RV?

We are just completing our first year as Fulltimers. I figure we will end up spending @ $58,000. Just can't seem to get out of the "Vacation" mode......:B
