John,
So very sorry for your loss. Feel and soak up the love of those close to you and know that my family's prayers are with you and your family. Keep pictures of the 2 of you close. Know that she is with Jesus. God bless, John.

RE: Fridge shuts off when traveling

Does it keep going on gas while not connected to electricity, before you take off? In other words, can you prove that it works only on gas while totally disconnected from power......

RE: Turning off my propane at night

Wow! Talk about digressing.
We leave our propane on during the night, but we do turn off the water heater. I do this because my wife asked me too when we first started. Easier to just keep her happy. :)
In in spring/summer/fall the WH stays amazingly warm throughout the night and takes just a few minutes to get back up to temp. I turn off the gas appliances and pilot lights (yes, my old rig still has them) when re-fueling and getting propane.
Hope this helps you come to your decision.

RE: portable Mr. Buddy heaer

We use the big buddy in the winter all the time. I open a side window and 1 of the roof vents (both our roof vents have the MaxxAir covers on them so they can stay open in the snow/rain) Our windows are the kind that crank out so they can also be left open in snow/rain. Have never had the alarm go off. We stay plenty warm even with the proper ventilation. We love this setup and have used it many times in the last 3-4 winters.
I will say that we do not sleep in our motor home during the winter, so take that for what it is. We just use it for day trips to our local ski areas...

RE: Minnesota Fishing Trip

Lots of nice lakes AND FISH up here.... We love out-of-staters :)
Back to the OP's topic. I'll give you 2 that I know of first-hand.
Diasy Bay Resort in northern MN almost to Ely, MN. Lake Vermillion is a great multi-fish big lake. Love this resort and have been many times. They do have a campground and boat/motor rentals.
Huddles Resort on Leech Lake. Another great lake that has plenty of fish. Huddles has 3 RV sites, boat/motor rentals. Plus the owner does ski and tube rides for the kids. They also have a nice beach. This is a full-service cabin oriented resort, but you get all the ammenities while paying only for the RV site....
If you do decide to come up here, have fun!!!

RE: Newbie vs tanks = confused

Here's our RV toilet rules / procedures....
Always leave a little water in the bowl. Most toilets add a bit of water after the flap closes. so this may just happen.
1 bowl full for pee - 2 bowls full for poo. You want to use PLENTY of water for flushing.
Always empty black tank first followed by grey tank.
Rinse out sewerhose with non-potable water hose usually found right next to dump.
Put 2-3 gallons of water into each tank (through toilet and bathroom sink) with bucket filled up using the non-potable hose (if no hose or if water turned off, use another source within 30 minutes of dumping.
Add any of the chemicals - We use the GEO method about once a year.
Do not trust your tank guages.
If you smell what you think is sewer smell, it may be your batteries being fried by your crappy on-board charger/converter :)
Using plenty of water is the key. Better to empty the tanks more often.
Relax, emptying the tanks is not that hard. you'll be fine!

RE: The Wife dropped a bomb on me.

Hi Barry:
I notice you live in Wisconsin. I will give you the web address for Brambillas RV in Shakopee MN. They are right across the highway from Valley Fair. I live across the Minnesota River in Bloomington from them. They have been there since around 1973.
They have an excellent site for viewing their RV's. They do rent out Class C and Class A motorhomes (gas and diesel) ranging from around $1400./week to #3400./week.
You can check for actual prices (sales or rentals), pictures of each rental, etc. at the site. I have dealt with them since around 1984. They serviced my 1994 HiLo, 1992 Award Classic, both purchased elseware, and my current 2003 Fleetwood Jamboree 29V traded in for in 2006. They took my Award and 2002 Dodge1500 pickup at the time.
Type in "www.brambillas.com" to reach the site. I am assuming you do not live all that far from here.
Mark :C
Great group of people. The website is http://www.brambillasinc.com/

RE: Toaster oven

Another random thought, especially for those of us unable to connect to the fabled "current bush": Coleman Camp Oven
I've never used one, but have always wanted to try.
We use one of these. You can do better than $44, however.
The main dowside for us is that a standard frozen pizza does not fit. We buy smaller pizzas, personal size and they cook up great. We have made cookies, pies, biscuits, etc.
We needed a low cost replacement for our oven, as the thermostat is broke and it does not regulate the heat.... always on! The coleman oven goes on top of our stove in the motor home an on top of our two-burner camp stove outside, weather permitting.
Hope this helps...

RE: Mr Heater Buddy

Thanks for all of this information! :B I think I will probably order one in the next couple of days. $99 plus $12 shipping.
Make sure you get the "big buddy". Well worth the extra money over the Buddy. IMHO....

RE: It's snowing....in Tucson

It just started a few minutes ago, light rain turned to snow as the temp dropped from 39 to 36. It is sticking nicely, with a little luck we could get a couple of inches. This is a treat for this ole San Diego boy but we normally get snow here once or twice a winter. While it is not enough to shovel or bother about driving snow on the cactus is beautiful. So folks if you're headed to southern Arizona this is what you will likely find. :B

RE: So long ole guy

There is a specific place in our souls for our animals that we share life with. Those that do not have animals, have a hole where we all have memories. Better to have them for awhile, and feel the pain, than to never have them.
Sorry for your loss.

RE: White gravy for breakfast biscuits?

Good sausage - Fry in skillet - Leave in fat.
Add enough flour to absorb the fat and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. (We do not remove sausage)
Whisk in 2% milk slowly. Let cook over medium for a few more minutes.
Season with salt and fresh ground pepper, and just a dash of cayenne.
That's how I do it and I have never had anyone complain :)

RE: tc's at ski resorts

TigerRun works very well for a motorhome, but sadly not a TC, as stated. The Breck city bus even picks up and drops off. They told me that they do not have a ten year rule, but you must be totally self-contained.
Breckenridge city has a lot on the south end by the ice arena that they allow overnighting with generator use, for like $10 a day....max of 10 days last I knew. City bus stop right in the park and ride lot. You must get permits at city hall, if my memory serves me right.
Either place you stay and you get the privilage of skiing the back bowls and then the Imperial Superchair up to 12,840' of wide open beautifullness :) Too bad you have to eventually go own to the base at the end of the day ...

RE: Wife looking to Upgrade "AGAIN"

I have had my Nexus for 3 days now. Love the form factor. Nice display. The new OS is awesome. Love the new virtual menu button, the running apps virtual button, and just the all aound feel of the new OS is very nice. I like the new stock apps, still trying to get used to them.
The phone goes through the battery charge like poop through a goose, but that seems to be an issue with all the LTE devices. Overall, I think I'll keep the Nexus.

RE: Slobs

Bears Den has it correct - it's the newest generation, "Me, Me, It's all about me and I don't give a darn about anyone else"... Kinda makes you wonder what their home looks like :M ... It turns my stomach!! :M
Les
"The newest generation..."??
I saw such activity in school showers in the 1950s.
I saw similar slobs in military showers in the Navy and Army.
I saw rest rooms in bus stations, railroad stations (and trains), on airplanes, in airports, etc. left messed up by unthinking people, all during the '60s, '70s and '80s.
No, it is nothing new. You may not have been paying attention until recently, but it has always been there, and probably always will be.
"the newest generation..."??? No, sorry, I don't think so. Many of the members of OUR generation don't qualify for any prizes!
Anybody remember the indictment of teenagers written over 2000 years ago by some Greek (IIRC) philosopher? It applied quite well to the teens of ANY era, even in "modern" times!
No, IMO such "slobs" are not new by any stretch of the imagination!
AGREED!!!
