Looking for a 28'-32' Class A diesel

Looking for a 28' - 32' Class A diesel motorhome. Have found the Thor Serrano (none currently available in Oregon), the Thor Avanti (nearest dealer more than a thousand miles distant in Arizona) and the Tiffin Breeze. Are there others available in this size range? Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

RE: Alcan trip completed

BobBeen 50 years in July that I road it on my Honda, but we made it, no one sould have a problem today. Wish I'd known you then! At about the same time as your trip to Alaska, and after taking a term off from college to tour Mexico with two friends in an old VW van, tried to get one of them to ride to Alaska with me on our bikes - mine a 250cc Yamaha. Never happened and I've thought of the lost opportunity many times since. Soon married and went from two bikes, one English sports car, one go-cart, and one hydroplane to a wife, daughter and one Chevrolet. Those were the days!

RE: Tire replacement at 9 years?

Michelins are not required to be replaced for 10 years (unless they require it for some reason other than age). Many people feel more comfortable changing their tires prior to that time, ESPECIALLY if they aren't Michelins. As long as my tires show no cracking, excessive wear and tear, and a Michelin rep approves them, I won't waste my money replacing them for another year and a half (they are 8 1/2 years old now). If I had any other brand I would not wait past seven years to replace them. Not quite accurate. Michelin indicates a MAXIMUM of 10 years with the caveat that there are many other factors to consider. Talked with a tire shop this afternoon and they indicated that Michelin had a severe problem for several years with one particular series of (MH) tires (the ones on mine not included and they do sell Michelins). My Michelins have approximately 30k miles on a MH that is always garaged and they show absolutely no sign of wear - no tread wear, no cracks, etc. They truly look new. Interestingly, they told me many MH owners change out the like-new tires at 5 years and then sell the old tires for use on delivery vehicles where they will be worn out long before age becomes a factor. Seems a win-win. I'll be replacing all seven of my 'like-new' tires before another trip to Alaska in July.

California modifications

Just returned from a reunion with old friends from the 456th FIS at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California. Hadn't seen them since 1964 - 47 years ago! The trip brought up one question, however - knowing you folks from California mandate ever more stringent automobile regulations, I'm only wondering why you eliminated turn signals? They just seem so useful in other localities!
