I am in Myrtle Beech now. The dodge towed real well. The only real problem is all the people asking questions about truck. I am at Apache camp ground. And it was hard getting unhooked because of questions. I really don't mind. Having fun !

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

Of course you will have to follow whatever directions that come with your AC. Adding a second AC to garage area. I have a 15k BTU but needed a little more for those really hot days. I have been wanting to do this for a while but just did not want to spend the big bucks for a new AC. I have been watching Craigslist and finally found a unit the same brand and style. A Dometic Duo Therm that was in really good shape. It is a 11000 BTU with heat strip. The Price was right so I bought it. My Toy Hauler has 50 amp service and was prewired from the factory for a second AC which included a seperate circuit breaker and electrical junction box at the rear garage vent. First You have to remove the vent and all the sealer that the factory poors over the screws on the roof. Don't get anything sharp near your roof. You can use a metal putty knife to remove the sealer as long as you stay on the top of the vent flange...Repeat don't go near the ceiling with this tool. http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall006.jpg width=640 When you expose the screw heads you can use your cordless drill to get them out. Mine were square head and there were alot of them. http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall009.jpg width=640 Once you have the screws removed you can use a plastic putty knife but even these I would take off the corners. http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall007.jpg width=640 When you think you got as much sealer off as you can use the plastic putty knife to pry under the vent flange. http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall012.jpg width=640 When you get the vent removed you will have to clean up the area around the vent hole. http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall015.jpg width=640 You may want to seal the holes left by the old vent. These should be coverd by the AC gasket but you can't be too safe. I have an aluminum roof. I used a strip of aluminum foil tape. It will be under the AC gasket so should be OK. I have heard that a little sealent on each hole would be ok or even putting flat head screws back in the holes till they were flush. I also read that if the gasket sits over the holes you dont have to do anything. I did not like that idea. http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall020.jpg width=640 Prepare the AC. I cleaned it all up and cleaned the shroud. http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall003.jpg width=640 I wish I had got a picture of us lifting the AC up to the roof. Took four guys, two 8 foot ladders. So you don't damage the AC gasket you dont want to slide the AC along the roof. Get it over the hole as close as you can then you can center it from below by lifting up and moving it a fraction one way or the other. http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall027.jpg width=640 Work on the inside. I have a 6 inch ceiling so I had to order the optional bolt and duct kit. There are four bolts that clamp the AC to the Roof. Mine were 1/4"x 8" . The scary part is just how tight should the bolts be? The instructions say 50 inch lbs of torque or till gasket is 1/2". I did 35 inch pounds. It passed the water hose test. I ran wire from the factory provided junction box and used aluminum duct tape on all cracks and voids. I installed the inside control panel. http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall021.jpg width=640 Inside complete http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall025.jpg width=640 Check circuit breaker http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall036.jpg width=640 Done http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l483/1l243/Second%20AC%20Install/AirConditionerInstall028.jpg width=640 Nice Job!!!

RE: Converting my dully to a 10 wheel drive to handle Toyhauler

I am finelly leaving tomarrow with the Dodge and toyhauler for Flordia and Myrtle Beech. A two week trip. But in the mean time. I bought another truck as you can see in picture below. It has a Cummins 8.3 with 10 speed overdrive. Not sure of game plan yet. I got it for $500.00. Ideas? http://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu165/Securiti/851bd13a.jpg height=480 width=520 PS: My next hearing on Dodge has be scheduled for 5/30/2012. :(

RE: Converting my dully to a 10 wheel drive to handle Toyhauler

If you could see these spacers. You would see they are of high quality. The law code says I can have 1/4 inch spacers. But I had 3 inch. But if that is the best problem he could find after the major change I did with adding 3rd axel. Then I am doing good. Here is pic of spacers http://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu165/Securiti/Adding%20extra%20axle%20to%20truck/ff4712e2.jpg height=480 width=520 Just catching up on this thread - missed it for a while. One thing that might be worth checking is this: I've spoken to Leo's in both CA & UT, and the distinction between spacers & adapters makes all the difference in terms of what's legal and what's not. The way I've seen it defined is that spacers slide over the existing studs, but you still use those same studs to bolt the wheel on. Adapters are designed like your picture above - they bolt to the existing studs, and have a second set of studs for the wheel to bolt to. And it doesn't matter if the adapter is from the same bolt pattern to the same bolt pattern - they're still considered "adapters", and they're still legal - at least in CA & UT. I don't know if this is the same where you live, but it might be worth checking into. If it's the same there, maybe you could show the pictures above and explain that they qualify as adapters, not spacers. Thanks. That is exactly the way I presented my case. But I am still waiting for magistrate to research law. And schulel a hearing. He seems to be taking his time on this But thanks for info

Lol. Yes. Had haring three days ago. Long story. Will update later. But the magistrate needs more time to research the law. :(At least he is going about it the correct way and NOT believing everything the LEO had to say. I have seen magistrates that believed LEO's walked on water and their word was his law....:B Amen. I am hoping for the best. I cant drive it till I get ruleing. The dot cop was bad. He put posters up at State Police station a month ago telling his buddy's to tow it if they see it. :(

some red paint on the sleeper and it should really look good. Or white to match the trailer... White with a couple of black and yellow swoops would be sweet. :) You are in my head. My wife was just saying that today.

Looking good! Any updates on your legal issues with the pickup? Slap a cattle guard on it a few spikes and you're ready for Mad Max IV http://cavebabble.pnrnetworks.popcornnroses.com/files/2011/09/RoadWarriorTruck2.jpg width=640 Lol. Yes. Am I the only one that gets disappointed when I check in and find out there are no new pics? (not the case today:)) I love watching custom projects. I know from experience that these things can take a very long time. I'm impressed with how quickly you can keep the projects moving. Thank you. It does take a long time. If I had to pick a most important tool for the job. It would be my Plasma cutter. It really has save me on alot of work and money. :)

I really like the attitude that front end exhibits! Not sure about the bumper 'ornaments' however.:h:B It is the old bumper from the fire truck. I have to make some of the old stuff work for now. $ r short.

RE: Anyone running Big Rig style stacks with a TC?

To each their own but I gotta say IMO that's the most garish & ugliest thing I've ever seen. Here's a 6x6 Dodge that I've personally seen in Moab doing Potato Salad Hill, this clip is not that obstacle but it does show the trucks got some go with its show. Sorry no stacks :( T-Rex in action As I recall, the father finished that truck, the blue Dodge 6x6, it was originally being built by his soon who died over in the Iraq War. This is my truck. And you was rt about about my son. Sorry if it offends others. But thanks.

RE: Converting my dully to a 10 wheel drive to handle Toyhauler

Well guys. I finally got D. O. T. In dodge. It wasent pretty. The short story is he said I will receive citations in the mail. And let me go. He did it all from measuring bumper height to taking pictures of the suspension in back. From what I can tell. Cuz he was very mean. Possible citations are going to be tires out past back fenders, back wheel spacers & having the l shaped fuel tank in back of truck. He said I need a licence endorsement to haul that tank. I will update when and if I get the citations. :( PS: He said back axel can't be touching road. That was a sad post to read. If you exceed 100 gallons of fuel, they can consider it a fueling truck, and yes that requires a tanker driver's license, and other endorsements. Funny how a 18 year old in the Army can drive a fuel truck with barely any training on how to shift the gears, but you must have 10 endorsements and a permit! I can understand the tires sending up streaks of mud onto the cars it is passing, if driving in rain and not the proper mud flaps. Still it would be sad to have to remove the rear most axle, that seems a little to over the top. Perhaps a Police Sargent will take a look at the tailgate and toss out all the pictures. Fred. Thanks. You seem to understand about tailgate. I have been told by a person that there is a pic of my truck on station wall telling other officers to tow if they see it. I am researching my options rt now. But again. Thanks
