RE: Want to kill myself because....

We were on our way to a great weekend in San Diego, when the trailer breaks locked up on me. After many colorful words, and the DW's yell, I got the rig off to the side of the road. I went back and saw I had not run the power cord above the tongue but under it and it had been dragging on the pavement. I looked at both ends laying on the ground. I spent the next 30 mins, reconnection the wires with electricial tape and duct tape. Oh yeah, Murphy was with me that trip, it was pouring rain the entire time I was putting the cable back together.

RE: Stolen LP tanks

Most tweekers are not carring battery powered cutoff wheels, the have pawned them already. I use a bicycle cable lock throught the handles of both bottles and down around the frame. I had my battery stolen once, now I have it boleted tot he frame with a locking metal strap around it. The only thing I can say, is it will be the bravest person in my town to steal my tanks or battery again, because if I catch him the will walk with a limp for life.

RE: Hot water heater

I run the stove for about 3 mins (after it lights) and I run the fridg on gas while I drive to the camp. I may run the furnace for a few mins next month before I try the water heater, but it seems that it shour be getting gas.

Hot water heater

Another of many questions about the Hot water heater. Mine will not light when we first set up. It will try but no flames in the heating area. After several hours it seems to light up and run normally for the rest of the time we need it. I have cleaned the ash and stuff out of the burner area, ran a plastic bag throught the gas tube, cleaned the contacts for all the wires. I don't know what else to do or check befor I start paying $95 an hour to find out it's a spider leg in the gas outlet. Any suggestions? Thanks

RE: CHAMPION Generator Woes

To make a real quick check, there should be a small wire by the oil fill cap. It is the low oil sensor, Unplug this wire and try to start your gen. If it starts, then shut it off right away, check your oil, and make sure it is all the way up. Once this is checked and you are SURE there is the correct amount of oil in the unit, you may have to run the gen for a bit to reset the Low Oil Sensor. Then plug the wire back in and e3njoy.

RE: Kitchen sink odor

I do two things for my gray tank/sink and have Never had a problem (6 years now). My wife will, every night when we have sewer hookups, or the final clean up before we leave if boondocking, fill both sides of the sink with water and pull the plugs at the same time. This washs all the food from the trap under the sink. Then when I dump, I use a flush king, and back flush the tank to get as much as I can out. I always put about 5 gallons back in the tank so it isn't dry.

RE: Items stolen during repair at dealership

I'll add my own story. I took my TT in to a dealership in Colton, Ca. for repair/replacement of my fridg. I foolishly left my TV's on the bed under the pillows. I stoped by the dealership on a Thursday, they told me it was ready, but they couldn't run the fridg for some reason. I told them I wanted to make sure it worked so I left to return the next day. Before I left I glanced back in the bedroom and saw the TV's. Friday I came back. My TT was on the street in front of the dealership, with the doors open, and the fridg running. I check it and said great, hooked up and went home. Two days later, I went out to start loading, and noticed the TV's were missing. (my trailer is stored at home, behind locked gates and large dogs sleep under it). I called the dealership and got, You should have checked it before you left, and We are not responsible for items left in the unit. After some rather loud talking in the show room, a call to the police, and my wife starting to go up one side and down the other on the service manager, I got about 70% of the value of the TV's. I learned a lesson, never leave anything in the unit that you really want to keep. I don't trust any dealership now.

RE: Stolen RV battery!!!

OK you give you another answer, I had mine stolen one night by the bravest person/persons ever. Brave, because if I had caught them I would have hurt them badly. Anyway, I got a new battery and case, and went to a home improvement store and got a strip of banding. The kind that has holes and is bendabel. I drilled two holes in the bottom of the case and the bracket on the tongue. I bolted it down and on one side bolted the banding to the underside of the case. I then bent the banding up on both sides (front and back) I put the battery into the case, and put the top on the case. I bent the banding from the back over the top and let it extend beyond the front of the case. I bent the front band up the front of the case and then, even with the top I bent the front band outward about 2 inches. I use and padlock throught the holes in the band to lock the battery down and tight enough on top so the top of the case cannot be opened. I will open and close the top to hook up the battery or unhook it at home. Has workde for 2 years and it cost about $10, after the battery and case. Good luck

RE: extended warranty

The extended warranty is like life insurance or accident insurance. You get it because of the unknown. If your are a very wise and strong willed person, don't get it. Put $200 a month in savings in case you need it. Me, I guess I am neither. I got the warranty. I have a 2004 Springdale, and with the DW's help put the 11'4" trailer under a 11' 2" tree. New roof $6,000. Lost bearing, new breaks, wheel and axel $600. Yeah I am glad I had it.

Hot Water Heater Problems

Of course there is a problem or I wouldn't be writing here. I have a Suberban DSI water heater, after I get set up I flip the switch to turn it on and it won't. I hear the clicking of the igniter, I hear a "woomp" of the flame, but the burner does not light. I will walk away for a while, (30 mins plus) and try again, and it starts. Has anyone had this problem? I thinkit is somewhere in the gas valve or line because everything was cleaned last week. Thanks.

RE: Going Crazy Trying to decide how much we can pull

WOW fi you weren't confused before you should be by now. I have a 2005 Dodge 1500 5.7 Hemi. The book says 8,600#. I have a 2004 Springdale, 27' GVW @ 7000
I have pulled it thousands of miles, and the only problem I have is keeping my speed down to 60mph. The Hemi is a beast. I have pulled to Las Vegas over the Baker Grade, and kept it at 55mph all the way. Read some of the Dodge Hemi web sites. They will tell you to take it to 4000rpm, and pull away. I often, when on the freeway, will turn off the tow/haul and set the cruise control, pulling at 60mph at 1800rpms (helps the gas mileage a bunch) Have a great time and keep the wheels down
