RE: Soft spot near shower in motorhome

Are you SURE it's damage? You say NEAR the shower, not in it. Is this under carpet, etc.? It's not unusual to find a troft under the floor to carry plumbing to the shower and sink from the water heater or tank. My old =85 Pace had the exact same "feel", and it was nothing more than a plumbing channel with a metal cover on it.

RE: People from Santa Clarita, CA

You can overnight at the Camping World off of Hwy 5 at the Lyons offramp.NO camping at that Walmart, they'll run you off.
There are 2 additional WalMart's up here that DO allow overnights:
There is a Super Walmart about 1/2 way across the valley just off of Soledad Canyon. There other one is right off the I-5 at the 126. Get off and go East about a mile. It's on the S-E corner and pretty hard to miss.
Edit: NOW I see that Fred responded right above me :(

RE: So. Cal Interstates

I-10 does NOT run thru the City of Riverside it goes thru San Bernardino. I-10 splits at Beaumont and goes to San Berdoo. CA 60 starts in Beaumont and goes thru Riverside.Golly, I'm pretty sure he said Beaumont further down...

RE: Wingman Add On

Im just sayin' what Winegard says: 10" whether it is 9 or 10 is subjective.
The zero point of your taping measure is in the wrong spot. It should be against the head, not the base of the wingman, which should be included in the measurement.
I know, maybe I am nitpicking- probably because I havent had some coffee yet.You are, it's not even a 1/8". A double-expresso will solve that...

10" is insurance. 9" is closer

Do a deep search on Wingman and you'll find a couple of folks that reversed their batwings on the mast and they work fine.

RE: This antenna VS. This antenna help please

Now that that's all straightened out...
There are no "freaky" UHF channels anymore as most of the over the air channels you now watch are on UHF regardless of what channel they indicate they're on.
Do you already have a hole in the roof that you're intending to replaced with this, or is it a new install? Personally if I were just putting up an occasional use DSS antenna, I would just buy a portable antenna and call it a day.
As for that combo antenna, it's really useless if you think about it. You have an omni-directional off-air antenna, so you already are at a disadvantage, THEN it just so happens your off air transmitter is located behind the metal reflector. Now what? That's why there are very very few of these around.
If you're going to buy antennas, but something that works, even though it may look conveient.

RE: This antenna VS. This antenna help please

With Links:
I want to bring one of my satellite receivers with us when we travel, so I'm going to need a satellite antenna installed on my Class C RV
We don't watch a whole lot of TV so I'm inclined to try to save money and not run with the $1,100 fully automatic set-up. I've heard very good things about some of Winegard's crank-up units that have a meter (digital magic).
One unit is just a plain Satellite dish, while the other has some kind of over-the-air reception and the description shows it taking 12vdc and a few other things. Difference in price is only $30, but I'm not sure the entire assembly cranks-down.
Guys...what is the primary difference between these two antennas? I believe one gets UHF while the other doesn't. I'm fairly certain VHF are like regular channels (2,4,5,7,9,11,13) while UHF are those freaky-useless channels?
Here are the two antennas...any insight or help would be appreciated!
Here are the TV's I plan to run, I believe they have built-in tuners and since they are hi-def, they shouldn't need a converter box. Btw, this is the largest size LCD TV that runs on 12vdc and this is the absolute best price I could find on new units! :

RE: Anyone got a Winegard crank-up digital-magic antenna?

It all depends on what you wanna do with it. It won't do HD.. Other than that it's just a regular old dish. They just run.

RE: So. Cal Interstates

I was trying to get on a jet before finishing the above.. I-10 always has trucks, is usually windy (hence the wind farms), and the road sucks. The last time I was on I-8 I was in a 120MPH head-on collision and have only been back once just to look around. Maybe it's a little safer 35 years later.

RE: So. Cal Interstates

I, too, was a bit puzzled by the question. My simple answer would be "neither", they're both dreadfully boring; oh, and I-10 does not connect Blythe and Riverside since Riverside isn't on I-10 (it's close, though).I-10 runs square through the center of Riverside County starting at the Arizona border.http://www.mapsofworld.com/usa/county-maps/california/maps/riverside-county-map.jpg height=300 width=300

RE: How to: digital tv with old style antenna

First, do NOT buy an omni-directional antenna. You already have the best you can get and it will out-perform an omni any day of the week.
This is the proper direction of the antenna:
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/SCVJeff/Front.jpg height=600 width=600
Next, buy a Wingman! They just work. That's the extension off the Batwing:
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/SCVJeff/DSCN6538.jpg height=200 width=200
And last, there is no getting awaw from pointing the antenna, the trick is knowing where to point without taking a full re-scan every 45 degrees. There is a device called a DigiAir Pro that will take what could easily be 30 min+ into around 30 seconds.HERE is a post I did on it awhile back.
PS, sorry for all the vertical space.I need to crop that drawing.

RE: RV power cord, shut down/start up portable generator help

The Honda 2000 is inverter driven and won't produce anything but 120V@60Hz. When I shut it down, as soon as the rpm drops, the power is removed from it's output. For startup, the Surgegard won't connect for several seconds to 2 mins (depending on setup), and the coach EMS has further delay, so I don't bother with it either.

RE: Polishing Aluminum Wheels

I use my cordless drill, a Mother's "Power Ball" and some Mother's "PowerMetal" Aluminum wheel cleaner. Wash the wheel to get rid of the dirt, a few minutes with the powerball/cleaner, and a rinse with a rag/hose and I'm done. This is what I use, but get a corded drill with something between 1800-2200RPM, unless you have a bucket of batteries.
Flitz also works well but not easy to find.

RE: White noise

I use a "white" noise machine to stay asleep at home as I am a very light sleeper. I would like to use it in the camper but I have no idea how much power it uses. The label shows 20 watts or less on 120 volts but there is no more information. What can I expect for amp hour draw for 10 hours? Camper has a 115 amp/hour battery and I carry an extra fully charged in the wheel well to switch out when I need to.For a noise machine even that's a hefty draw. If it's not too precious you can find an electronic geek to take it apart and probably rather easily end up with a 12V cig plug on the end.
