RE: 2011 Ford 6.2 gasser engine (questions)

Love mine. Only 6k miles on it, bought in May-2011. No problems so far. Mileage is about the same. I look at it this way: If I wanted great mileage, I'd have gotten a little car. But for towing a trailer, I want this.
We also have a toyhauler trailer, so a the end of the weekend, if I have gas left in the fuel station/generator tank, I pump it into the truck for the drive home!

RE: Canned Hams

I remember growing up, my mom would take a church key, and punch openings (6-8) around one edge of the can. Stick it in the oven for 10-15 minutes to melt the gelatin, pour it off, then use a turkey baster to pump in your favorite BBQ sauce. We liked it!

RE: comcast norton suite causes win7 64bit to freeze

Been running Norton for years (15+, at least...). But always just individual programs, not the "suites". Have never heard anything good about the suites, but have never had anything bad happen with the individual programs.
Maybe they just don't like each other? Or the programs are too intrusive for their own good?
Don't know..... I do like Norton AV, though.

RE: Third most dreaded day of the year coming soon

What is this "winterizing" thing you speak of? :W We're headed out for New Years, and then again in late January to go riding in the desert..... Under the toyhauler today, greasing the suspension, wheel bearings, etc. Probably top off the propane tomorrow.
gotta love being retired!

RE: dual tank regulater

There isn't a regulator on the fireplace, is there?
If you've tried different regulators, the fireplace would be the first place I looked.
Does the stove, furnace, and hotwater heater work as advertised?

RE: Socket size for Lug Nuts

Why don't you measure it?
Measure it across the flats (side to side) and that'll give you the size of the wrench/socket you need.

RE: Adult Beverage- Apple Pie

....We had a Gyro Tech that would come on the boat, to clean the gyro, and he'd bring about a gallon of the stuff.....use about a cup of it, and leave the rest of the bottle:B
Ah, the good old days!! Can't do that stuff anymore!!
My dad used to tell the story of when he was in the USN, they had to clean electronic contacts in the firing circuitry of the battleship guns. They had to use grain alcohol, which they had to get from the Medical department. They'd get a gallon, trade a quart to the Aviation department for a gallon of 130 octane AvGas, use the gasoline to clean the contacts, and make drinks out of the remaining 3 quarts of grain alcohol! :B

RE: LP usage with refridgerator???

Very minimal. Fridges can go for weeks on just a little propane. The other consideration is 12volt power from your batteries. It's needed to power the control board. But with a full charge, and no other draws (lights, furnace, etc) you should be fine.

RE: Dual Propane Tank Setup

Depends.... does the yellow tape say "CAUTION", or "CRIME SCENE - DO NOT ENTER"?
just kiddin...
Let's presume you're talking teflon tape...
No tape on the tank fittings.
Tape the hose fittings that connect into and out of the regulator.
Test EVERYTHING with soapy water in a spray bottle, even the regulator body itself.

RE: Refrigeration while boon docking

A refrigerator alone running on LP (and 12 volts for the control board) will run for weeks on a 5 gal tank.
That said, using a hot water heater, furnace, and stove top will eat into the contents of said 5 gal tank.

RE: Estimating LP Gas Useage

There are 21591 BTU's in a pound of propane.
So....
If a BBQ has a 20,000 BTU rating, it'd use approx a pound of propane in an hour. That will change with outside temperature (usage will go up as temp goes down).
You can extrapolate that out to your generator/refrigerator/furnace/hot water heater - just get the BTU's off the nameplates.

RE: I gotta vent.

If I can't depend upon it to work at least 75% of the time, then I'm just going to be ticked-off all the time and cringe every time I want to use it. I just don't have the time or will power to fight this stuff any more. If it is a hidden power drain and all it takes is a $20 switch to fix it.... WTF? That's just asinine, and calling it a 'RV idiosyncrasy' is just everyone ignoring the issue and not demanding better.
I don't want to trace the line or hook up a new switch. I want it to work at least once. That isn't asking too much IMHO.
Yep, you're right. Just take it back to the dealer. You aren't cut out to be an RV'er. Sorry for your loss. Anything else would be beating a dead horse, since you've already made up your mind.
