RE: Jayco Designer-Trouble with Large Slide

Hey Guys...
Thanks for the great advice. It was a sheared Bolt as you said. I didn't have a grade 5, hope a plain bolt holds until I get around to changing it. Looks like a good winter project. Has to hold for a couple more trips.
By the way...Lake Catherine State Park also thanks you. Our trip this week is for our Good Sam's Chapter to Adopt A Park. Lake Catherine is one of our Parks.
Thanks again

Jayco Designer-Trouble with Large Slide

Stocking up the fiver today, preparing to leave for a week out starting tomorrow. I got ready to pull in the large dining room slide on my 2009 Jayco Designer 34RLQS and only the back part of the slide would move. The part of the slide near the entry door refuses to retract even with me pushing on it. I checked fuses and the switch...all appear OK. Does the large slide have one or two motors? Where is the best place to access the motor(s). Does anyone have any suggestions on what maybe causing this problem? The slide worked fine about three weeks ago. The other three slides work fine...so there is plenty of power to all of them. Sure would like to leave tomorrow, of course all RV repair places are closed over the weekend.
Thanks for all your help.

RE: Best to double-check rig ONE last time--things can change!

I take things a step further. After breaking camp, hooking up my toad and doing the final walk-a-round I drive to the campground exit, stop and take one last walk. I started that several years ago when I drove off with the engine still running on the Toad. Drove several hours before discovering it during a fuel stop.
I do about the same thing...I pull the fiver out of the site and then get out and look around again. First, I gives us one last look at the rig and one last look at the site to insure that we are not leaving anything. I'm always surprised at the things people leave at the sit.

I think this is all because Van Horn doesn't have a Walmart for you to sleep at!

RE: How Long A Wait For Warranty Work

The Jayco dealer in Little Rock, AR used to be just great for Sales and Service...then they had some management changes and got a Service Manager from Camping World. I believe it would now take them two weeks to change a light bulb that they had in stock. Needless to say, now that my Jayco is out of warrenty I would not go back to them for any work orfuture sales. Nor would I refer anyone to them.

Anyone have experience with Bedroomcentral.com

We are considering getting a new mattress for our fiver. Bedrommcentral.com gives Good Sam's members 20% off the price of their mattresses. These mattress's are the air type bed similar to Sleep Number or Sleep Comfort beds, however the price appears to be quite lower. In addition they have beds with the radius corners that I need for my RV. Any info would be appreciated.

RE: 5 Expensive things you shouldn't buy........

I have to agree with the OP.
Rving costs too much...
and I would like to add the following:
Camping is dirty
It wastes fuel
Campers are not fun to be around
Campfires pollute
Hard to cook meals in a camper
Kids won't like it
Please pass these negitives on so I always have a camping site:B

RE: coach-net

We also have had CN for three years and have had to use them twice. Both times they were prompt in answering, dispatched the right person for the job. The first question they asked us both times was "Are you in a safe location?". They were also very good with follow up calls...let us know when someone was dispatched...checked to be sure that everything was corrected. I have never had an emergency service that has performed as well as Coachnet. Maybe we're just lucky:@

RE: Unsanitary practices

I make it a point to put on my HazMat suit as soon as I arrive on site. Prior to backing in my rig, I spray the entire site with full strength bleach. I also require anyone walking onto my site to walk through a disinfectant wash. I'm not a clean freak...just cautious

RE: Help, need cooler climate!

Looks like Fairbanks, Alaska is about 65 degrees right now. However, you may want to consider the winters.

RE: Trailer Life Directory RV Park Finder iPhone app

I just recently downloaded a new Woodalls app on our iPad. I think it will work on iPhone and iTouch too. It has their complete campground directory and Google maps which function together and it seems to be very efficient. I've only played with it a little, haven't actually used it yet, but I can see where this will be a handy app to have available. I found it by doing a search on iTunes under apps.
Peg
Peg...
Thanks for the info, I saw the Woodalls App also. I was just wondering if Trailer Lifes eNews group got in front of their Iphone app developers.

RE: Things I wish I had never bought for my RV

I believe they had a recall on some models. What year and model do you have? You may want to do a search.:W
I bought it from some guy going door to door in a campground few years ago, claims it eliminated needing a generator! Could never get it to work right!

Things I wish I had never bought for my RV

We all see a lot of things to buy for our RV's. Some are great...some are OK...and some are a waste of money.
Some of the things I have that I would never purchase again are:
Horst Miracle Probes-These were supposed to work much better than the original sensors that came on my 5th wheel. They worked good for about a month and then started to act like the original probes.
5th Wheel Tripod-Could never notice any differance between the trailer movement if the tripod was on or off. Made no differance if it was real tight, real loose, or just right. Now the Rotochocks are a different story...they work well.
RV holding tank tote-The idea works except at my age when the tote is full, I can hardly move it. I believe it is a 35 gallon tote.
What are some of the thing you wish you had never for your RV???:S

RE: 5th wheel deposit question

When I ordered my jayco designer a couple of years ago, the dealer didn't require any binder. And this was when the dealers were really hurting. Like someone else said...don't walk, run
