Yellowstone / Tetons trip

We are leaving June 4th for Yellowstone / Teton trip. The plan is to stop in the Badlands / Custer area for a few days then a quick stop at the Devils Tower then to Yellowstone for 6 or 7 days and the Tetons for 2 or 3 days. We have the option of heading north to Glacier or south to Utah after that. My question is would the Zion, Bryce area be to hot and crowded to try this time of year to try without reservations? I have read that the campgrounds stay pretty full in that area. We would need at least an electric hook up for A/C. Would heading to Glacier and doing the Utah area on another trip (different time year) be a better option for us? Thanks in advance for you help.

RE: Just drove the new F350 home

Congrats on your new truck. Ford dealer in Ocala told me they sell the PM22A in a gallon size. Not sure of the cost yet, but should save some money.

RE: Michigan State Parks fees

Bingo DOTLdaddy, I completely agree. We love the state of Michigan and do not mind supporting the state park system. BUT,when the cost equals the price of a FHU private campground there is something wrong! We much prefer state campgrounds but the economics do not work out in Michigan now. When we spent a week (twice)last year we did not us the states campgrounds. Pity.

RE: Ocala Area

You have recieved good advice so far. We just returned from a few days at Manatee Springs which is 55 NW of Ocala. You can walk to the spring from the campground and it also has a great boardwalk from the spring to the Suwannee River. Day trip to the little town of Suwannee is pretty neat. Also Cedar Key is a favorite of ours. Manatees are gone buy the end of March or so, but still LOTS of wildlfe to see there. Silver River SP is great and close. Glad to hear Salt Springs is vacant during the week. When we checked it out it was packed! Must have been a W.E. Have a great time this is a nice area with nice people.

RE: moving cross country

We just did pretty much what you are talking about only we lived east of you in Erie Pa. Studied the Ocala area for a year or so and decided that would be a good place for us. More laid back but near enough to the busier places it if you want it. Came dowm in Novemeber with the 5th wheel, found a house in December. Listed ours up north and got lucky as it sold in 8 days. Went back for the closing, got rid of a lotta stuff and packed as much as we could ourselves (saves a lot if you pack your own boxes) and had it all shipped my a moving company. Cost us $3000, to ship 6000# or so. Getting settled in here and love it so far.

RE: getting newer truck. GM LBZ or LMM?

I have a 11 LML and traded an 06 LBZ. Never have thought that they needed a tuner. It's your warrenty and your truck. Both trucks have plenty of power and stock have had no issues other than normal maintainance. The LBZ has no emissions, the LML has it all. Other than having to add DEF, I see no real differance between the two other than the 11 has a much greater capacity on the bed. I did the same thing and completely agree.

RE: New to fifth wheel towing

Yep, seems a bit odd, with 6" of clearance between the trailer and bed. The lift might change the angle, but the clearance should stay the same. I would not want to "modify the pin box". I would have to agree with this. Are you sure you have 6 inches of clearance from front to back? Also, is it the pinbox that is close to hitting the side of the bed or the frame the pinbox mounts in?

RE: Trip Computer mpg Appears Accurate

My 06 Chevy 2500 was consistantley .3 lower than hand calculated. The 2011 is pretty much spot on, never saw more than .2 difference. I always set the nozzle on the slow setting and stop when pump kicks off. The one time it was off .2 was at a truck stop with the large nozzle. Makes me wonder if flow rate can effect them ie higher flow rate more foaming.

RE: Upgrade for 2011 3500HD In Dash Navigation

Is there an upgrade available for the in dash navigation system in my 2011 Chevy 3500HD? I love everything about this truck except for the IN Dash Navigatiuon. It is DVD based, slow & the graphics are pretty poor. In addition the truck must be stopped for you to search new destinations. Is there an upgrade I can buy for the sysstem without having to replace it? I agree, not at all impressed with mine either. Took me awhile to figure out that new destination thing. You are right you have stop the truck to do it. I can't even figure out how to run the nav without the radio being on. I just turn it down. I trust and use my Droid if the route is the least bit tricky. Also agree the rest of the truck is great. I am staying tuned to this one for sure.

RE: Another Blame Game. different opponent

In ric83864,s post, one of the possible causes of fuel contamination is an auxiliary fuel tank. Makes me wonder if the mfg,s will use them as a reason to deny warranty claims now. I know ricatic did not have an aux tank but he did have an aftermarket tank. This stuff is making me paranoid.

RE: No AC when plugged into shore power

Did you plug into a circuit with a GFCI? My Garage has 3 plug on a circuit with 1 GFCI in the loop. Backtrack the circuit and see. May not be it but just a thought! Just thinking the same thing. Has happened to me a couple times.

RE: Wrong tanks

Another vote for not getting it filled. When we got our Big Country, I could not get it to fill all the way before it come back out the fill tube. I found the hose running to the fresh water tank did not have enough fall preventing the tank from filling completely. I rerouted the hose and corrected the problem. I also found that filling the tank more slowly will help. Good Luck.
