RE: Buying a house again.

We have been doing it for 8 years this month, and will be hanging up the keys when the time comes also .. although may be an apartment as we don't want the yard work, etc. And yes, "It's better to die regretting something you did than something you didn't do." - and it has been good for us to learn history by volunteering as well as touring. Good Luck to you.

RE: Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II - overflowed - now what?

Thank you dieselhorse - leaving the water pump on appears to be working, although since we are going to be gone this after/evening, will certainly turn off the water at the spigot. And as to your "South Texas .........a whole 'nother country" - love it, we have only been as far South as Texarkana .. but did love Ft. Worth area during our relatively short visit (2 wks), and I am wanting to return some early, early Springtime. Again thank you for the suggestions.

Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II - overflowed - now what?

We have a Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II toilet - which when DH flushed it this morning and walked away, it overflowed the tank, flooding the bathroom. He had flushed the toilet with the foot pedal and unbeknownst to him the water had kept rising in the bowl. I got up a few minutes later to find bathroom flooded ... and there were signs of overflowing of the toilet bowl. I yelled and grabbed the top blanket off the bed to sop up the water, and he turned on the water pump (to stop the water coming into the travel trailer) and the water quit flowing. He turned off the water at the spigot outside and when he did he noticed that the water pressure indicator read Zero. When he came inside and flushed the toilet it worked like it should, with only the set amount of water coming into the toilet bowl. He thinks it may be due to a temporary lack of water pressure in the campground -- as when the water pressure resumed the toilet works fine now. (I am nervous about what may have caused it in the first place) A few mintues later the campground water pressured came back on .. I flushed the toilet and it is working like it should now. I read on the other thread about EEWally having a similar problem and had to replace "the water congtrol valve" from Thetford. So is the problem is in the foot control or the combination of circumstances. Yes, we are going into town to order the 'water control valve', but wanted to see if anyone else has had the same problem with the same model of Thetford Toilet.

RE: Thetford Toilet Won't Shut Off

Did anyone experience toilet overflowing or is DH the only one who walks away after flushing - resulting in a flooded bathroom. We have a Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II. We lost water pressure for a few minutes in the campground and the bathroom flooded. Is there a correlation between losing water pressure and toilet overflowing ? Because it is working now that the water pressure has returned ... We will still look into having the water control valve replaced.

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 18-20, 2012

AND by the way we missed coming down for the day, a friend of ours died, and he was secretary of a group which needed David to take over those duties plus we needed to attend the funeral. Sorry, know you all had a great time as only y'all could have ! ! There is always next year ..

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 18-20, 2012

We got home yesterday afternoon about 3:30, started getting a few sprinkles just before we got into Portland. -SNIP- We then went to the "Willamette Wine Country RV Park", used to be the "Portland/Dayton RV Park". It has new owners and they are taking group rallys. Their website is: www.willamettewinecountryrvpark.com. The cost per night, including taxes is $29.09. There is a $50 deposit on the rec room, refundable upon departure if the rec room is clean. If everyone decides to come here for the next rally we should let them know as soon as possible so we can get the weekend that we want. Tom We spent the month of December 2011 there, then again for the first week of May .. a very nice park, and the front office is super! Would recommend that park for any group or individual event ...

RE: To join or not to join...that is the question

For instance the Access Pass (NPS pass for those who are disabled) gives you lower rates on some national campgrounds - not sure who gives what, but one can always look it up and see which National Parks Serive (NPS), USACE, & other national agencies have campgrounds and give the discount pkg. The NPS Access Pass is also honored by other agencies such USACE, BLM, etc. Just show them your military disability ID and voila you have an Access Pass. Commencing this month there is also an Active Military Pass being given out by the NPS which is good at several government recreational areas, historical parks, etc. Worth looking up the NPS Pass internet site and take a look.

RE: Please....Tell me where to go!

Since you will be in Tennessee, just head east to the southern part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Lots to see and do along the Parkway. At the northern end of the Parkway, just go east to the Williamsburg, Va area, lots to do there, then from Norfolk take the long bridge over the Chesapeake Bay, then head north along the atlantic coast, go to Mystic Seaport in Conn., then up to Bar Harbor Maine. You can then just trickle through the rest of New England, many beautiful areas to see. Good luck in your travels and may you meet a lot of new people to encourage you during your travels. Excellent idea ... we loved our times in these areas .. Mystic Seaport was awesome !

RE: TV.Antenna

Was really surprised how easy it was to replace (for DH anyways)and how many more channels we could pick up ! Thanx to all the postings about this Jack antenna as they answered many of our questions ..

RE: TV.Antenna

We went from the Batwing antenna over to a Winegard Jack - picked up 8 more channels all for under $50 one time purchase ! could not be happier as we are out on the Snake River in Washington and only were able to receive 4 channels depending on the weather, etc. So both are very happy with our TV viewing now. We also bought just the head and DH installed it this morning ... the old attena head went in the dumpster !

Hi folks - thought I would drop in this morning to say Howdy. RE: 70 yr old Person's Childhood Omelette

Dutch Baby I know it's not what you're looking for...but it sure is yummy! :( Hubby says this is real close - so will try it soon. Sorry I took so long to get back to you ... having finished up a volunteer then relocating, etc. took time. Thanx for posting this. PS: BTW I always made my biscuits from flour, etc. until after I married a Southen boy and my biscuits were not his Mom's ... asked his Mom and would you know it .... she used Safeway's Bisuit Mix. So I began to use a mix and he got happy. What can I say ...

70 yr old Person's Childhood Omelette

No, I lost the recipe - what I need is the plain egg, flour, & milk recipe that my Mother-in-Law made for her son in his childhood. Don't think there is anyone left in the family who remembers the recipe ... thought y'all might share a similar recipe to what I am looking for .. My MIL was from Arkansas if that is any help.

RE: Mountain or BMX bike ...

We are at the Lewis & Clark National Historic Park (Ft. Clatsop) and will be leaving the end of this month - heading to McMinnville for a coupla weeks before heading to SE Washington .. Between Ice Harbor Dam and Charbonneau Campground is the specific site we are looking at for me to use a bike or ? for transportation ... also will be going to Stub Stewart State Park again next spring ...

Mountain or BMX bike ...

Was looking at a small scooter (50cc) or so to go from volunteer spot back over to the campground ... (forgot we are volunteering at several spots this year) ... However got to thinking this morning that maybe a BMX or mountain bike may be better for this 5' 1/2 in woman ... haven't ridden a bike in years, however think it would be safer than an electric or gas powered scooter .. Any sharing out there would be helpful - and the road is an interior road and due to a neurological problem I cannot drive an automobile - therefore the choices are limited .. So again any sharing out there of anyone using bikes as an alternative transportation ...

RE: This has always perplexed me...

Well, as for us we are full-time rv'rs but can remember weekend or week-long camping trips and wanting to get home in time to get the kiddos bathed, fed, and laundry done so we could go to work Monday morning .. sometimes we even left on Saturday. Now we will sometimes leave early due to the fact that we plan several stops on the way and want to have plenty of time at each stop. AND avoiding the crowded freeways by leaving before church lets out at noon.

RE: Any other annual camping passes like New Mexico State Parks?

A number of states offer annual passes that are available to out-of-staters. NM is the best, of course. Texas has a $70 pass that waives the daily entrance fee, which is pretty hefty. It doesn't take many night for it to pay for itself. Georgia has a Friends of the Parks pass that does the same thing. I'm sure some other states do as well, but those are the ones we've used. And don't forget the Golden Age Pass (or whatever they call it now) for great savings at federal campgrounds. Ted H. There were two Golden Ages passes - now called Sr. Passes ... one is for Seniors (age 62 or older) for $10 and other is Access Passes and with proof of disability is Free .. but those only get you into Federal campgrounds or National Park Sites for free - it is also called an Interagency Pass due to the fact that BLM, FWS, and others honor the entrance free portion. Only those sites which are willing to give the 50% of camping fees honor these passes .. Pretty sure there are no general Sr. Passes available for Oregon or Washington State. HOWEVER both states have an Annual Pass which only gives you free entry into State Parks, and so not sure how they interact with campgrounds within those parks. There are reduced fees for Oregon State Parks with a special permit, and also for Foster families in Oregon I know for a fact. Not sure what Washington State Parks honor or given reduce fare for.

RE: 10-ply tires

Load Range E is what I run. I learned my lesson the "time in grade " way. Those of us with the golden age passport on medicare have already tried the mickey mouse P rated tires and graduated from Load Range C to Load Range E. That move eliminates blowouts and reduces road hazards. I didn't read this in a book. This is actual experience. At the same time I went to the wider 8 inch Weld wheels instead of the cheesy 6.5" that came on my Duramax. Handling is better on Oregon 2 lane roads through the Mighty Cascade Mountain Range as well. So right with it depends on what road you drive .. we like the back roads also.
