RE: Red Max Pro/ ZEP

Great advise. I just used the ZEP product on the roof of our MH. It was showing signs of oxidation and I just could not keep up with it with wax. The side walls are all well waxed and look like new but the roof was a different story. After using ZEP on the roof I am so happy and content that it is protected and looking new.

RE: New tires? Help me decide?

@ pnichols (and anyone else): I was wondering about the size, too. Obviously, the OEM tires are Load Range D. Just from reading on here, I assumed it would be beneficial to move up to E. But, again, I'm no tire expert. Is that a good idea?
I don't know about all the other measurements, so I really hadn't though of doing anything besides that. And I don't recall seeing discussion of moving to the 215/80/16R size... Interesting idea...do a lot of people do that?
Load range E for the MH. Good luck with your tires.

RE: New tires? Help me decide?

I did the exhausting task of changing out six tires on our Winnebago Aspect 26' MH last year. Had Mich LTX on it with bad sidewall cracks. If you check out the forum that seems to be common on that tire. I finally came up with Firestone Transforce's for $1,150.00 installed. I really like them a lot. I also installed borg dully tire valves with the new tires. I went to a family owned, for many decades, tire store and they really know their tires. A lot of my friends with work trucks and MH's recommend them. They depend on return business and referral business so they do care about what they sell you. They told me they highly recommend the Firestone Transforce tires for the size RV we have. I have the same theory you do. 5 or 6 years and they are off replaced with new ones. The ride and handling is the same if not just a tad better handling than the Michelins. I went to Tire City in Bristol PA. If you have a local family owned tire company I would also let them weigh in on their recommendation.

RE: red pro max

I could not find RMP so I used the ZEP floor wet look - I think it is the same or similar product. I used it on the roof only by following the same procedures mentioned. I put four coats using a new already purchased grout sponge. It worked great! I am very happy with the outcome.

RE: Launching Boats with RV

We have been lauching our bass boat for the last 8 years with our MHs. Our Winnebago is 26' and it is easy to lauch the boat in most conditions. As long as you have enough room to back it up then you are all set. Even in low water the overhand works great for getting the trailer in deep enough water without worrying about the tires coming near the water line. Rving and boating is a great match.

RE: how old is to old

Our MH is six years old and like new. We use is 12 months out of the year and have no intention of a replacement. In fact the older we get the better it works for us.

RE: MA to MD to Cherry Hill Park

My daughter lives about 30 miles from Cherry Hill Park and I have a property in CT right off 395 so I will give you the route I would take and see what you think. When you get to the Tapan Zee bridge I would take the 287 to GSP to the Saddle Brook Exit or route 80 East to the New Jersey Turnpike. I would take the turnpike to the Delaware Memorial Bridge to route 13 south, in DE, to route 40 west to route 896 east to route 301 south. This will take you over the Bay Bridge to Annapolis, MD then you are very close and choose your route but you can take 95 north about 20 miles to CHP. This route may cost you a little more with the turnpike cost but this is the way I am familiar with. My daughter lives right before the Bay Bridge exit. Have Fun.

RE: I need to buy a new George Foreman cooker

We love our George Foreman Grill. We are on our second grill both having removable plates. The one we have now is a 360 round model with two plates. One for grilling and one for pizza, eggs etc... This grill works perfect because of the layout of our MH. We have an outdoor entertainment center that has a portable wall hung counter that attaches to the side of the MH. It works great for boon docking, which we do a ton of. It has a radio and power so we pull out the little counter hook it up and put the grill on it and we are ready to cook. We have an outdoor shower so clean up takes place outside and the grill plates are easy to clean. No mess and portability as well as perfectly prepared food.

RE: home security?

We got a home security system in our house just for that reason. It cost us about $200.00 for the installation and $35.00 per month for the monitoring. We need it in our area and has made a world of difference when we take off for a couple of days. The security company will call you if the alarm goes off and will notify the police. If my alarm goes off I will call my neighbors to check it out. Would not have one. I also just out a safe in the MH just a small one to hinder someone while on the road.

RE: 303 Protectant Part 2

I switched over two years ago and use 303 on our MH and boat including tires, vinyl, counter tops etc... It is terrific stuff. I will wax the MH fiberglass roof at the end of season and beginning of the new season and then apply 303 every couple of months until the fall. I just started the process yesterday of cleaning the roof with reliable 1 which cleans the roof very well. I then use meguires cleaner wax for protection and added cleaning. I will then use 303 on the roof and everywhere else the rest of the year. It is an awesome product.

RE: Little Willy is gone

She was a Bichon-Frise.
A very smart, well behaved dog.
She just turned 13 on February 28.
The past few days, she was getting very lethargic and was eating poorly and unable to keep food down very well.
The vet discovered a massive growth in her stomach area (X-ray).
It was decided that it was best if she was put down.
She was put down at 2:30 PM today - we both stayed.
She will certainly be missed, as she was quite a little character.
She had a very good life.
We did what we thought was best for her.
Very Sorry and can relate to you're pain like you would not believe. We had to put down our Holly who also was a Bichon on February 28 for almost the exact same diagnosis. Holly was also 13 years old. Very strange. We took Holly to hospital and the doc took xrays and a blood test. He gave her fluids during the visit and told us the results of the tests would be available the next day and that she would have enough fluids for 24 hours until the test results were back. He informed us that she was in serious condition but not in any discomfort. That night I took Holly to see our daughter in college, her mom, to say goodbye. We sat in the car and were just loving her to death. It was the right thing to do. Holly was able to go through her normal habits which was to just show us how much we were her world and loved us. We took here the next day a put her down. We were with her the whole way to provide comfort. We miss her! She did not suffer and we showed her the love and dedication that she showed us her whole life. Our best friend and RV buddy is gone but what great memories we have of her. She was so Awesome!

RE: Wifi mobile HotSpot

Last year we eliminated our house land line and internet service and now only have cell phones and a hot spot that we take where ever we go. The hot spot is good for up to five devices and works just as well if not better than our dsl internet connection we had before. We have the 5GB plan for $50.00 per month. We saved about $80.00 per month by switching over. My wife's employer offers a discount through Verizon so that is our service provider. The pros out weigh the cons for our use so it is a win win for us. We have not gone over our usage but you certainly have to monitor what you use. We do not have smartphones but use an ipad and laptops for work and business. We are now mobile and it is working well for us.

RE: Plug in at home surge protector?

We have our MH plugged in most of the year at home for the same reason you mentioned. I have not had a problem in 6 years but this past fall I plugged in a surge protector along with a little house to keep it dry. I will turn off the surge switch during heavy rains other than that it is keeping the batteries topped off.

That does not sound right. We have a slide awning and never had it flapping in the wind like you are saying. They may have to be adjusted to make the tighter.

I changed out all of our tires last year and purchased the Borg Tire valves. They are a great option. They are well made and make checking the tire pressure easy. I will add them to my next tire purchase also.

RE: Emporia VA on I95 and US 58

That area has been that way for years. We saw many cars pulled over for tickets last August while traveling down to FL. We also noticed many local jurisdicion police cars pulling over vehicles on I 95 in South Carolina and Georgia that travel in their responsible areas. This is a money maker for them for sure. We use our cruise control and set it for 55 mph on route 58 which is the speed limit. Don't need a ticket for sure.

RE: Air card

I have the Verizon mifi also. I have had that problem on a few occasions. It seems to lock up on occassions. I have been taking the battery out waiting a few seconds and then replace to re boot. Works fine after that. Good luck.

RE: plugging in during winter storage

We have our MH plugged in most of the time at our home. We use it quite a bit in the winter for track meets and visiting our daughter but while it sits outside we plug in into our house's 15 amp outlet to keep a charge on the batteries. Our converter never overcharges the batteries. Never had a problem and the MH is already to go. Love it!

RE: Awning saver (clamp)

I have installed 3 of the "Awning Locks" referenced by Richmcm and DebandEdM. In each case the hole in the roller tube always ends up in a different position and the plunger does not match up to the hole. Had many conversations with the supplier including sending pictures and problem could never be solved. If you do a search you will find that others have had same problem with this lock. Waste of money.
Yes. I think all of us, that have this product, have had this happen with the Awning Lock but it is an easy fix. I usually adjust the awning when leaving camp and it fits in the hole with adjustment. A friend of mine actually drilled two holes and uses either one when closing the awning. I may actually follow his lead and do this. It seems an easier adjustment and he has better results. Either way you look at it you are going to have to take time to set up the protection for the awning. I have this one and so far it looks good and still have not had any problems. Let hope it stays that way.
