RE: Spring Hanger question

Wouldn't you raise the trailer instead of lowering it by dropping to lower holes?

RE: Bird nest in the pin box

Take some plastic grocery bags, fill them with balled up newspaper tie them off and stuff them in the hole in the pinbox. No more nests. Low cost easy to do and effective. Good luck.

RE: goose neck vs 5th wheel hitch

We have a B & W turnover ball and companion hitch. A very good system. I would highly recommend it. Many say that fithwheel RV frames are not strong enough for a gooseneck adapter and ball.

RE: Who's pulled a 5th in snow

We pulled our Montana in snow with our I ton dally in December. Without any wind the rig was fine. When a moderate cross wind pushes on the side of the 5er it tends to turn it into the wind like a sailboat. The force was enough to push the rear axle of the truck sideways on the slippery roads. In this situation there is nothing you can do. Foutunately the gusts were not sustained enough to put the rear truck wheels in the ditch. I would do it again but I wouldn't like it. OTR rigs don't have the turning moment from the wind like a 5er and are safer in snow and wind.

RE: 2wh or 4wh

If we didn't have 4x4 on our dodge dully, we would be stuck in our driveway in Stratford Ontario instead of enjoying sunny Tucson Arizona. Even at that we had to shovel the Montana out when we left in December.

RE: It's snowing....in Tucson

I am in Tucson and. It did not snow here yesterday or today. The lowest temperature I recorded during the day was 38f. Now at higher elevations such as the Oro valley and the Catilina mountains it was snowing like crazy.

RE: Are duallies much more stable than singles ?

Whisperide, if what you say is true, there wouldn't be any dual rear wheel pick ups on the road. If the only advantage was blowout protection few would buy them.

RE: Coach wash-wax in Tucson??

I don't know, but Tucson National RV has an automatic brushless RV wash. just like a car wash only bigger.

RE: RAM 5500 "Long Hauler" a reality?

Looked at the 2012 4500s and 5500s on the lot at my dealer and they do indeed have def tanks.

RE: Clunking sound when backing up.

RE: Good Year China vs. USA

I believe the G614s are made in USA and the E rated Marathons are made in China.

RE: Dodge trailer brake issue

When you engage the "manual button", mine has a lever, the controller should give a read out of the voltage applied. When you adjust the brake controller the first time, start out with a read out of around 6 to 7 volts. Then do a pull test by having the rig rolling slowly and applying the manual brake lever or button if applicable. On Dry pavement the trailer brakes should stop the rig. If the stop is too aggressive, reduce the voltage until the stop is comfortable. If the rig doesn't stop quickly enough raise the voltage and test again until the stop is firm but not aggressive.

RE: replacement tires (need help)

One dollar and that so called built in LT safety margin will buy you a cup of coffee. The margin is only good if your tires don't blow.

RE: propane tanks

Depending on the climate where you live, if there is dew in the morning, look at the tanks and there will be condensation on the tank up to the filled level.

RE: Tow rating increases from 'towing packages'

Dodge tow package includes tow mirrors which enhance safety.

You need to replace those front tires with Dunlap never inflates.

RE: Finding Load Range "M" tires

M tires are for heavy off-road equipment, not light trucks or RVs.

RE: Montana lighting question

See if they can be turned off using the remote. If they were accidently turned on using the remote, they can't be turned off unless the remote is used.

RE: Ethanol's effect on milage

Ironically, if ethanol producers were required to use 100% ethanol to produce ethanol, the stuff would be completely consumed in the production process so there would be none available to put in gasoline.

RE: Wheel came off while towing at 60 mph

Did you check the torque on the remaining three wheels to see if they were over or under torqued? That might tell you something.
