RE: Front seems like it is drifting, went to CAT scales

Use the earlier procedure to check the tow setting with and without the rig hooked up. That should show the issue if its toe setting.

RE: Tankless water heaters

No the same does not happen... Several members have built recirculating loops to capture the hot waste water from regular tank units. Mostly for when they are boondocking. The gerard unit sells a solenoid to "winterize" it, with instructions stating that the loop has to be built back to the fresh water tank. So there are options.

RE: Tankless water heaters

so the upside to the girard unit is it's pretty cheap. It is so far, really good on propane use. it will definitely run hot water way longer than you will ever shower. The downside is it's cheap, and cheaply built. It has an issue when the incoming water temp is around ~45F in that the water is too cold to sufficiently warm with the unit on low unless you slow the flow rate down so much that it's not much of a shower any more, and at the same temp the incoming water is too warm to run the unit on high as the unit overheats the water and then shuts both burners off. Yep while you're under it rinsing the soap out of your hair, it goes from hot to ice fricking cold. And it just goes back and forth between hot and ice cold until you swear at it and succumb to running it on low with just a dribble of water coming out of the shower head.

RE: Tankless water heaters

I seriously doubt that any RV has the recirculating loop some stick & bricks with tank type water heaters do to keep the water in the pipes hot. You will have to run out the cold standing water in the pipes to get hot water with either kind of water heater. Thanks for clarifying what you said but it doesn't really apply to RVs. You do understand that the girard winterizing solenoid and it's directions for installation requires that this circulating loop be built right?

RE: Tankless water heaters

Be very careful when installing it. The hot water outlet has no solid mounting to the unit and you can damage it pretty badly if you use regular fittings. Re: the fitting issue on the Gerard. It boils down to RTFM. Read and follow the installation manually carefully and you won't run into the problems this poster did (this was discussed in another thread). you may have a reading comprehension issue. The manual states quite clearly that regular fittings can be used. Connections can be made using PEX swivel nut adaptors with NPS straight threads and a cone seal or with a standard 1/2" FPT nut.

RE: "Venture Out" Mesa Az

Try ViewPoint in Mesa, Really nice park and they have 2 dog runs. And 2 golf courses, and lots of activities, and kraploads of partying canooks. I was a minority in my own country. :B Viewpoint is one of the better ones.

RE: Tankless water heaters

It's surprising the qty. of experts on this subject. Somehow I get the feeling there are far more of them than actual users. This is where I got mine. clicky As for the extra $100 for the winter version, save the money. It's a joke. It must be, cause if it isnt it's an insult. It's only useful when you use onboard water and pipe in a return line to the tank. Absolutely useless for city water. Be very careful when installing it. The hot water outlet has no solid mounting to the unit and you can damage it pretty badly if you use regular fittings. The girard uses 1/4" tubing around the heat exchanger, so I dont see how hard water could affect it. So far I am amazed at how long propane lasts. I expected it to consume it like it was a crack addict. But it is a lot more efficient than I expected.

RE: On Demand Hot Water Systems

The ten gallon tank in the RV takes 8 minutes before the water becomes lukewarm At what ambient temp? I am amazed at how long the gas has lasted so far in mine. It's a lot more efficient than the electric tank.

If you're going solar, do it now.

US gov't sets stiff tariffs on China solar panels In its ruling Thursday, Commerce also granted SolarWorld's request for a finding of "critical circumstances" to counter a recent flood of Chinese imports into the U.S. market ahead of the widely anticipated decision. As a result, preliminary dumping tariffs will be imposed retroactive to late February.

RE: Maxxis trailer tires

Maxxis rates their tires to 65mph. Do all of you keep within that limit? If not what speeds do you run at? ALL ST tires, regardless of mfg are rated at 65mph max. Not quite. Carlisle states their radial tires are approved for highways speeds. Their year one plus warranty that comes with the tires states that the tires had to be limited to the maximum posted speed. By the way Carlisle now shows a st235/85R16 with a F weight rating, 3960 pounds. 0.2 inches bigger diameter than the "E" tire.

RE: One more tire question

An interesting side note, if You look on Barry's website, that is the EXACT replacement LT for the ST tire. A 3042 load capacity for a 3420 + 10 percent load capacity, and he says you have to trust him on it. I should drop some 700 pounds per tire and just trust him on it? ummm no... LOL click the first table, last tire on it

RE: One more tire question

RVUSA You have to understand what they are telling you! Lets look at two tires. ST235/80R16E 3420 at 80 pounds inflation LT235/85R16E 3042 at 80 pounds inflation What they are saying is that you can not substitute a LT with this rating on an axle that has more that a 6084 GAWR. One needs a Load Range G LT tire (3750 lb rating) to meet the weight requirement on a larger axle than a 6K one. The thing of it is, I do know that. That is exactly what I was talking about. The ST's have a higher capacity, and you cant just swap an LT for one as the post I responded to was suggesting. Maybe read his post.

RE: 1990 Ford E350 Van Rear axle seals. Easy to do?

make sure which rear end you have. The seals are different sized. $2 seal, $20 tool, and $350 labor. It took me 20 minutes on the f350 dually to save $350.
