RE: Highway 395 North

I am having to travel this highway this coming May 31st. I am attending a wedding in Alturas Ca., and I found a small RV park called Sullys right off 395 has anyone stayed there or even heard of it?
I am glad to know that 395 is a good stretch of road to travel

RE: Banks power systems for gas coach

I have done a system using another manufacturer, it cost so much less but did give the cooling and extra hp needed to pull some hills. Personally I would not spend what they are asking. I would not install them either. I went to a local shop and was quoted right around 900.00 to install and do a few other items. You could be into the project for like 1500-1800 going with the Thorleys. IMO others I am sure would disagree

RE: 460 Ford Class A Towing Jeep

I used to have the big 460 in 34.5' tag, wasn't towing quite that much but the headers and trans command setup was really nice. As a option I would go with doug thorley headers, you can pick up a set for around 600-700 and it will do the same thing for cooling the engine. Here is a link for you to check out, cut and paste to your browser

RE: Would $5 crush a lot of the RV industry?

Well in a way I agree with you. I am a budget rv'r and do not have the discretionary cash that others might have. I have a 150 gallon fuel tank and I plan on trying to fill it before diesel hits 5 bucks or more a gallon. I am not a big travler, we venture out but normally 5-6 hours away from home. Now I know most guys on here are retired and have done pretty well for themselves and their families and I will be the first to say congrats but the fact as I see is that the higher prices will slow down some of us smaller guys down.

Is there any better Ocean View than Pismo coast RV?

My DW and I love to rv but have become kinda spoiled! I have been to the pismo coast rv village a few times now and REALLY enjoy it. I have been searching for a another rv campground similar to theirs heading north from pismo up past S.F. but have found nothing.
Is there something comparable on the ocean north of pismo??
I would like to have full hookups where ever I go, close to the water?? GREAT

RE: Prevost owners can u identify this dash??

YEAH!!!!
Well I finally found the manufacturer!! They changed names but are in business in California. I was hoping they had molds but the owner says each one is hand made and sculpted.

RE: Prevost owners can u identify this dash??

I was told by the guy selling this interior on ebay that the manufacturer was named Sanderson Customs or something similar in Florida. He says they are out of business. I hope to find out for sure that this is the case, as I would like to get one.
Check out this interior

Prevost owners can u identify this dash??

This dash is in a 1997 PREVOST XL 45 VISION MOTORCOACH. I have not seen this dash anywhere else. I am wanting to see if I can find the manufacturer.
I have looked at a few other 97's and they are not this nice. Any help??

RE: Why do this to myself??

I received the pics of the proposed dash board for the 06 cross country. The salvage yard is staying to their true form of what I would call overcharging. I was quoted $1500.00 for a dash, which I believe won't include any dash panels. If the dash were in excellent shape I "might" consider the price as long as it included everything.
The dash is pretty scorched from an interior fire and would need to be recovered which I expected. I didn't think it would cost that much and I don't have a shipping quote yet..... My hunt continues. I will post a pic in a few.

RE: Want to swap generators...

I have often thought of this mod too. I have a 4 cyl onan/kubota diesel genny and man that thing is pretty loud. I would love to see what the difference in cost would be if I sold mine and picked up a 10KW onan quiet diesel unit.
My existing genny has a radiator in the front of it. All of the quiet ones seem not to have one. Those babies are not cheap though. Maybe I check prices to see what I can sell mine for.

RE: Why do this to myself??

Hey thanks for all the replies! You guys are funny!! I am still in the looking stage, I did call northwestern, they have some stuff but no dashes. I will keep searching and when I do start I will post the results.
@CDuck you are just down the road from me, I did contact morrison he quoted me 25K so that is on the wait till I hit the lotto burner LOL, LOL
If anyone knows of any other salvage places let me know.
Thanks

Why do this to myself??

I have always been this way! I can never leave anything in it's stock form! I have always changed or customized my cars to suit my desires. I am that way with my stick home, my wife leaves town, I start designing a way to change something! This has happened at least three times.
This trend is continuing with my current RV, I want to add a slideout(LONG term)side cameras, install a factory screen door (that was not offered in the 93 navigator) now I want to redesign the old looking dashboard, my thoughts are to start with the look of either an 03-06 sportscoach or a 02-03 Alpha. I prefer the sportscoach because it looks so much better to me. I know this is a lot of unneccessary work but that is just what I like doing. Lord is there any help for me??
I understand the cost and issues, the fiberglass work, re-covering etc. I only need to find the salvaged parts at a cost I can afford and the cutting begins.

RE: Used side view cameras, ARE they NUTS????

@hudsoner
So are your side wired to be on all the time? I think by your post they are. I plan on using the existing b/w backup which uses the old sony monitor. I now plan just the 7" split for left and right.
I really would like both sides on all the time rather than coming on when I am ready to switch lanes.

hmmmm that may explain why my bedroom speakers work only with the radio! When using the 10 disk changer only the fronts work.

RE: Used side view cameras, ARE they NUTS????

Yeah I suppose some guys wouldn't bat an eye at their quote, I'm just not one of them.
@Dutch, THANKS, the whole system for less than their cameras-good looking out. This will keep us from having to do it ourselves.

Used side view cameras, ARE they NUTS????

I have been posting on another thread about wanting to add side view cameras, it was some one else's thread. I decided to try and find some used ones instead of buying the parts and making my own.
So I contacted this company;
http://en.visonerv.com/cgi-bin/c/rvsalvagemotorhomes-partingout.pl?
Now they seem to have everything you would want used for your rig. I asked the guy to look into a pair of cameras off a 03 unit, to my surprise the gentleman tells me they want 250.00 EACH for these used cameras??? I am like are you serious?? What in the hayo are they made of GOLD??
Is the in line for a salvage yard? Needless to say I will be trying something on my own.

RE: Side view cameras - worth it?

Well I don't want to hijack this thread, but can't you use a regular small back up camera to use as side views? I mean why pay 218.00 per camera when you can buy one for around 25.00 and make your own housing?
I for one am going to try and make a custom set to mount in a recess near the front headlights on the side of the mo ho. I buddy of mine is going to help with the moulding. This eventually will be something I will try to market to the small group that owns 93-96 H.R. navigators. Will keep ya posted along with some pics.
