RE: Permanent rubber hose for LPG inside RV?

I have 2 Olycat heaters plumbed w/ automotive fuel line hose. (don't remember the psi) One of the heaters and hose has been in use for 18 yrs,.....in 2 RVs, and shows no sign of deterioration whatsoever. The other is 3 yrs old on a movable Olycat w/ an 8ft hose coil hanging on the wall. Hammer away,......not telling anyone to use automotive hose,.....just telling what works. Many yrs ago we ran natural gas thru a garden hose for several years to a shop heater, w/o any deterioration either.

RE: Charging Car Battery with Honda eu1000i

My EU 1000 runs my 9155 all the time. I have the converter only connected to the EU 1000. All the rest of the AC plugs are fired from my 1500 watt inverter. Many times I have to grab a lower gear on the charge wizard for a few minutes before it will handle the 40 amps max of the EU 1000. I have an ampmeter on the output side of the converter, and I must use the lower gear on the CW untill the ampmeter get down to 22 amps, then I'll shift to hi gear (bulk mode) which will then handle the 40 amps. I quit charging when the ampmeter get down to 25 amps,.....which I figure to be about 80% charge. If you plan to use the EU 1000 thru the converter, it better not be larger than a 45 amp, or it better have a manual control (like a CW) over the charging stages,.....so you can keep the amps at 40 or less.

RE: Terlet Help....

The Aquamagic 4 you don't need to remove the turlet,........or I didn't anyway. Been a few yrs ago, but wasn't hard to do. There is only 1 seal that seals the blade to the bowl. It installs in a grove, and the blade just seals against it from upward spring pressure.

RE: Hookups

On a 30 amp service you can draw a max of 30 amps. Logical thinking would have you believe that on a 50 amp service, you could draw a max of 50 amps,......right ? Well, forget that,......logical thinking don't work in the electrical world ! In reality, you can draw a total of 100 amps on a 50 amp service. Where else does 50 mean 100 ? Houses are the same way,....100 means 200,....and 200 means 400.

RE: Coach batteries and alternators

IMO, you are asking for trouble running a 250 amp alternator. I also don't believe more battery is always better. Whatever you discharge, you must recharge. More batteries are more apt to spend more of their time in more of a discharged state.......which is a no no for any battery,.....it will shorten their life aq bunch.

RE: **** Local TV & Direct TV

Yeah, local channels do cost 5 bucks a month. If thats too much, you Batwing it !

RE: **** Local TV & Direct TV

Its so easy,....... Just call DTV and tell them you are wintering.....wherever, and want the local channels in your area. They will drop your local channels in your home town, and connect them where you are. All you need is a nearby address,.....and you may not even need that.....maybe just a nearby city. I gave them a temporary address, and they were tickled. They said to just give them a call when I get back home and want them switched back. Now,....if you left a house sitter back home, they may get a little PO'd if you shut down their local channels :((

RE: 12 volt lights dim and get brighter.

How do i check to see if converter or battery is bad? If you un plug from shore power and the lites are ok, wouldn't you suspect the converter being the problem ? If the lites still dim/brite w/o the converter on, wouldn't you suspect the the battery(s) or more so a connection to the battery ? Keep in mind that w/ most late model converters, all 12v equipment run off the battery. All the converter does is charge the battery, or would act as a 12v power supply if the batteries were not there. In most all older RVs, (converters) all the 12v equipment runs off the battery when not plugged into shore power, and switches to run off the converter when plugged into shore power.

RE: When should I start Seafoaming a generator?

Quote: My small engine guy told me that alcohol is the worst thing for small engines. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Just my point,...hearsay,...tell him to show you,....he can't do it. But I'd bet he can show you lotsa hi $ gasoline,..along w/ lots of hi $ additives that will fix every fuel related problem you never had. And maybe ask him whats the difference tween a small engine, and a... ...bigger one when it comes to the fuel system,.....unless we're talking EFI, which is much less tollerant to bad fuel deposits, but which never gives us any problems from E10.

RE: Atwood water heater won't lt

Well, some mite be one time fuses, but some aren't ! My thermo fuse quit too, so I bipassed it, and it worked fine. Then I cleaned the flue, then put the thermofuse back in line, and its worked ever since. So they are not all a "one time" fuse. To the OP,.......why not check/bypass all the components first before just throwing money at it ? I know,....bad to say after you did it.:( :)

RE: When should I start Seafoaming a generator?

Quote: JMO, but I think too many "mechanics" blame E10 for other issues. We have had E10 around here for years. --------------------------------------------------------------- No truer words were ever spoken !! Strictly from hearsay, so many badmouth the E10, but so many have no proof whatsoever of any deposits or damage from E10. I have even purposely and unecessarily removed bowls from carbs on small engines, even my motorcycle,.. that set for months in the cold winters, over several years, and never found even a sign of any deposits or damage from E10, and none of these use seafoam or stabil either. And most times I find dirt/grit in the bottom,.....the exact cause of all the false accusations of E10,....something that could be completely eliminated by installing a simple $2 fuel filter. After my research on it all, I would never put a drop of leaded non E10 in any engine I have,.....2 stroke or 4 stroke.

RE: Old 6 volt Battery Corrosion

I forgot to mention that I installed the red-green felt washers more than a year ago, and the acid ka ka doesn't even touch those washers,.....its almost like they are rejecting all the corrosion. Those are not the answer. But they are not held down tight on the battery either. There is a big difference between these 2 batteries as far as the corrosion is concerned. Neither uses more water than the other either. It may be leaking tween the terminal. I will play around w/ all the replies here, and try to come up w/ something. But I do know from experience, new batteries never do it, but when they get 4-5-6 yrs old, they start to corrode a little. Thanks

Old 6 volt Battery Corrosion

2 interstate 6v, 8 yrs old performing very good yet, hydrometer readings very near even. But even a year ago, one of them just loves to corrode the terminals. I have cleaned all terminals thoroughly a couple times, but the one still insists on corroding very rapidly,....like in a couple months or less. I know there is probably no way of stopping this.....short of replacing,......just wondered what the cause mite be, being as they are still performing well ?

RE: Have you buffed or polished your headlight lenses?

Can't help much except to tell you that there is more than one way/product to do this. There is a guy here in Quartzsite running around doing it, claims his way is nothing the same as those kits you buy that don't work 1/2 the time. And he says his method adds a coating so it'll never happen again. I talked to one guy that was thrilled afterwards,.....his MH looked so good he had his toad done too. They did look like new. I think it was $35 a pair he paid. But I see this guy doing it everywhere here.

RE: When should I whip out the Eternabond?

Skip it. Touch up with Dicor once a year. Break out the EB if you have a tear or some other problem spot develops. If your chalk is soft and pliable, why do anything ? I carry eternabond too, for that time when I all of a sudden really need it.

RE: Resturants in Quartzsite

I am here right now. Anytime during the week of the RV show, its a gamble. Any resturant that is any good is loaded anywhere near meal times. Silly Als is loaded starting at 11am, and after 2pm you ain't gettin near the place. But the week of the RV show, the roads on both sides of town are loaded w/ traffic, so you ain't goin no where anyhow,......fast that is :) Yesterday about noon, we could not get onto main street, just had lunch at the RV. Late afternoon the traffic is ok, but forget the resturants. Next Monday, 2/3 the RVs will be gone.

RE: how to repair crack in Dicor sealant

I'd wonder if you even have Dicor ? I have Dicor as OEM chalking everywhere on my 14 yr old Fleetwood w/ rubber roof, and you couldn't crack it if you tried. And it has spent several years outside in the hot sun. It is all just as flexable as the day they put it on. When I went to remove the old wineguard sat dish, that stuff was still as gooy and flexable as the day it was new.

RE: water heater troubleshooting

I'd call somebody that new what the heck they was doin! That wouldn't take much. Nothing much easier to fix/diagnois than a water heater, gas or electric. I'm no official tech of any kind, but gimmee a voltage tester,..... maybe just a jumper wire, and I'll find the problem in a minute,.......or 3 ? :)

RE: How does the electrical systems work?

I have ampmeters on the output of both the alternator (dash gauge) and the converter (coach panel gauge) My 55 amp converter (w wizard) may start off charging 50+ amps, but only for a short time, which then sits on 35-40 for a much longer time, finally to 25 for gen shutdown (80%). Under the same circumstances, my 140 alternator will start off at 130+, but only for a short time, which then sits on 90-95 for a much longer time. Moral is, it would take a very good converter to out do my alternator.

RE: My LEDs

RJ, Thanks for the report. But are we talking apples to apples here? At the top of the OP, I mentioned some fairly extensive testing that these panels had passed. Last I looked, Dave-Sparky was at 8 months and counting (Post Here with link to test results.) Were yours the same panels as the ones we're discussing here? If not, what, exactly were they? . Are you kidding,.....I wouldn't have the foggiest idea what those $5 china lites were. I still have one burning but plan to change it out soon and I bought 4 new ones today at the RV show.....lifetime warrany. They are a popular lite w/ a website and all. But I forgot to record the site to my wifi spot here.
