RE: 2011 Chev Dually Tire Pressure

I run 65 psi all round on our F350 Ford dually pulling very heavy Mobile Suites. All you accomplish in running 80 psi is just a harsh bumpy ride for no apparent reason. Our Ford is very stable with the Ford air pressure recommendation. The 80 psi would be for 3/4 ton and smaller trucks.

RE: Pre-trip bug treatment

There is a clear disposable film called "Road Wrap" that can be applied before trip, then removed when you arrive. No clean up required!!!!

RE: Questions on aux fuel tank

I would not haul 115 gallons of fuel around all the time to prevent condensation. I have used a 60 gallon RDS tool/box comb. for 5 years and never had any issues with water or condensation, whether full or empty for months at a time.

RE: Fridge not working

Our Dometic side by side quit cooling with no leaks. All I did was remove fridge from unit and turn it upside down overnight, then upright has been working ever since. No hard to do if you have a helper!

RE: R V Insurance

I would think Progressive would be the best value until you have to use it for a claim, then you will not be able to afford the premiums. I have Gilbert RV Insurance.

RE: Suburban water heater on electric

Our Suburban water heater has a electrical inside and outside the unit for 120 volt operation. Also need to double check the ac breaker feeding the unit. Sounds like it is not getting power!!!

RE: Onan generator experts

My 5500 Onan did the same thing and was caused by not running unit enough. Tried to clean the carburetor couple times to no avail. Finally found a new one on ebay for $175 and installed, ran perfect. The carburetor will gum up in the jets even if it was ran dry, something called residue. Mine would run perfect and the more load you added the more it would sputter, then finally die. The jets are impossible to get clean without removing it and soaking. It actually starts better now than it did new with the new carburetor.

RE: ?aux fuel tank/ service guy @Ford

My 60 gallon RDS gravity tank will throw a check engine code if I continue to let the aux tank drain without gas gauge movement, especially if I turn engine on and off. It senses a fuel gauge failure. If I use the manual valve controlling how much I put in, it will work like a champ. One of the best things I have even done to my F350. It is an easy installation and only took me about 30 minutes. It only hurts when I have to fill it up!!!!

RE: ? geico not insuring rvs without auto policy

I went with Gilbert RV Insurance out of Orlando. My thinking was you need an rv insurance company that specializes in rv's rather than an automotive policy. Also if less than 5 years old you need cost replacement coverage. Insurance is like everything else, you get what you pay for.

RE: topcoat

DuPont Imron 2 part clearcoat is an excellent choice. You just have to wet sand the gelcoat with 400 grit paper, clean, and shoot.

RE: 20003 F250 V-10, spark plug change

I would not recommend applying lubricant or antiseize if you are going to torque plugs. This will result in severe over torquing and possibly stripping threads unless you convert specs to wet torque.

RE: Tires for 2007.5 Chev. 3/4 HD 6.6L Duramax/Allison

I bet you guys that have went from BF Goodrich to Michelins didn't know they are made by Michelin. The Michelin brand name only results in higher prices over the Goodrich's. I have had excellent results with the BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A and couldn't ask for a better tire.

RE: Onan 5500 Generator

Our 5500 Onan generator will run both a/c units along with the microwave and anything else that I choose to run. I have never been limited with our on-board generator setup.

RE: Scary Handling Problem

I would look into installing a Henderson rear track bar on your Class C. This will eliminate the tail wagging the dog effect. Also sounds like an alignment issue with one of the vehicles.

RE: Eterna Bond Material

I have installed Eterna bond tape the full length of one side of our friends travel trailer roof that was damaged due to a long ladder making holes in the edge of roof and worked great. Don't know how it will be 10 years down the road, but it does a great job. I did use the proper cleaners and installation techniques.

RE: 2010 Freelander E-450 Fuel Filter

It is probably the MAF (mass air flow) sensor dirty or might check air filter. The O2 sensor on number 1 bank (number 1 cylinder side) that brings in the code you stated. Would think if fuel filter was dirty it would be affecting more than left bank misture lean condition.

RE: Emergency Exit Window

Yes it did hold after reinstalling the screws but do I trust it will not happen again sometime in the future. Still thinking of some way to make me feel better knowing it will never happen again. Thought about installing permanent screws, then there goes the emergency exit.

RE: Generator

I went with the 5500 Onan built-in generator that runs on gasoline. It has a marine 15 gallon gas tank. We also have a residential fridge that works off the generator when travelling and a automatic generator start in case power failure, temperature rise or if batteries drop to 11 volts dc. This is very handy in case the power fails at the campground when we are not there to keep our precious puppy nice and cool until we get back. I really don't regret getting a generator with our unit. It really just boils down to whatever your needs are.

They are the same company! I have had excellent results with the BF Goodrich tires on my truck and other vehicles. Michelin makes the BF Goodrich tires.
