Pops, I'm on the road right now and not on my home computer so I haven't kept up on this thread. But you are doing everything a good pet parent would do for their fur child. Having been through the same situation with some of my former dogs, just listen to your vet, and your forum friends, and feed her what she will eat. I know, I've boiled many a chicken breast in my lifetime with my fur kids. Sending healing thoughts and good wishes to all of you.

We were lucky - we found ours on Craigslist and it was in our price range. As for the motels, I always checked the Bedbug registry to see if the motels had been infested - and we carried our bags in huge plastic Ziplock bags. I'm happy we won't have to do this anymore. Hope you get back to camping soon again.

We got a 2010 Jay Feather Sport 165 travel trailer. It's 18 feet long with a double bed and a bunk, and the gaucho where the dinette is can be made into a bed also. It's small but has lots of storage space - I can't believe how much! Perfect for 2 old campers and a dog.

Well, we're back to camping again
Well, I figured that staying in motels would not last long with my husband and our dog. So we found a newer smaller travel trailer that was priced right, is in excellent condition and only 2 years old, and yesterday we got it. It has everything we need and is easier to tow than our previous trailers. We've planned our first camping trip for next week. We already had Andy in it when we got it home, and he jumped up on the gaucho and made himself comfortable. When I ask if he wants to go camping, he runs around in circles and barks. Yep, we're back camping again, and I'm glad!

Try the Petsmart Petshotels. I've used the one in our town many times, and also while in larger cities, like Dayton, OH. The pets receive very good care and you can pick them up until 9 p.m. on Saturday nights and until 7 p.m.on Sunday night. There are 2 in Indianapolis- check out the Petsmart Petshotel web sites for more information. I've never been disappointed with their services and my dog has never gotten ill from being there. Their staffs are very caring. Good luck!

Glad you got Bud back home safely. Andy has tags and is chipped and always on a short leash when we do go for a walk, and we have a 6 foot high stockade fence around our yard. But you can never be too careful - they run a lot faster than we do.

Possible nail bed infection?
Our groomer discovered something that looks like dark matter around one of Andy's back toes. She cleaned it as best as she could, but some matter is still present. He's licking that back foot, but lets me handle it. Could this possibly be an infection? Anyone have experience with something similar?

Andy can tell time - he looks at the digital clock in our bedroom each morning and goes to my side of the bed to get me up and moving when it's time to give him his thyroid meds and let him out! Never misses by more than a few minutes either side of 5 a.m. What a smart doggie!

Licking private area (embarassing)
Lately Andy has been licking his private area after urinating. There seems to be a bit of white discharge there, but no other swelling or inflammation that I can see. He's eating and drinking normally and not having any accidents in the house. Otherwise, he's his normal self, except he has slowed down running up the stairs. I would think this may mean a trip to the vet. Any info or suggestions regarding this would be appreciated.

I think he looks cute, Sher. It would look out of place on a sheltie like Andy, but they do shave them occasionally in rescue if they're too badly matted. I bet he's more comfortable too. A sweet little fox!
