RE: Woops bad rookie mistake

Would it be a good idea to mix some vinegar with that bakng soda? LOL
I have used both but not together. IMO the baking soda worked better without any after taste.

RE: mud flaps for protecting fifth wheel

Its pretty amazing how little actually hits the front. I just have the Ford flaps and no rock chips.
I might eat my words someday if I drive through a gravel topped pavement job.
I have had to drive thru 10 miles of dirt/gravel road in a Wyoming road project in wet weather and and you would be amazed how much stuff hits the trailer with only truck style mud flaps on the truck (Duraflaps). Also, some states "chip seal" roads in the midwest. This
is a layer of fine gravel put down over an oil base. Traffic packs it down and then the excess is swept up. Six miles of this some years ago chipped the front of my 5'er and the trailer of my new boat. Now I have Rock Tamer full flaps on my truck and on the rear of the 5'er. I don't mind "the looks" as I want the protection.

RE: Woops bad rookie mistake

Mix about a quarter cup of baking soda into a couple of gallons of water and add it to the tank. Then fill the tank and run the water thru the system and let sit for a few hours. Then flush it out and you should be good.

RE: insurance for truck and trailer/who

AARP uses Hartford as their insurance company and I have found that you can get a better rate directly from a Hartford agent. Even while I had Harford when I got a quote from AARP it was higher.

RE: The usual Colorado spring storm warning...

I hope we get at least six feet of wet snow, sure would help. The woods are so dry it crackles when you walk. Very little green underneath the trees. It is scary dry, worst I've seen in over 20 years here at 7500 feet.
I totally agree. If we don't get moisture soon it willl be a dry, dangerous summer in our state. We have alraedy had one daedly fire and many smaller fires.

RE: Corporate Greed or ???

Reserve America has been charging that for years. They run the Colorado and Wyoming state park reservation system also.Ken
But Colorado does not charge a fee if you just drive into a park and get a site. The charge is for a reservation. It sounds like Louisiana charges the fee even if you just drive in. Language does seem confusing.

RE: Just relized my 4 new tires dont match!

If the rims will hold the pressure, why not go with the E rated tires?
Now I think I should? How would I know if the rims will work? Seem to be now???
Ask the tire dealer, and I agree with others that if they will work go with the E tires.

RE: Venting your 5th Wheel while driving

I do not open any windows or vents as it is possible that fumes from the waste tanks or exhaust from the tow vehicle can be drawn into the RV while running down the road. We just open up the unit when we arrive and it vents quickly.

RE: A sad day for the family

That was my first thought too. I also wonder if all 18 were in the coach.
One of the articles questions whether there were seat belts for "those riding in the trailer".
Very unfortunate accident with maybe some questionable practices involved.

RE: Help! My trailer has a crack!

Went to the dealer today, they said (and I quote)... "I don't know what to tell you". I just sent an email to SunnyBrook. Will keep you informed if/when they respond.
We figure we'd have to drill a hole at the end of the crack to stop it. Didn't know the best choice for sealing it up.
That would be the last time I dealt with that dealer. I hope you get better results from Sunnybrook but from previous threads that may not be the case.

RE: Help! My trailer has a crack!

I'd call the dealer where you bought it or the manufacturer (Sunnybrook?) and have them look at it. Trailer is 5 years old so they may help out.

RE: Time to replace the battery (suggestions?)

If it was me in your situation I would get a deep cycle group 27 battery and would shop around for the best price. The group 27 has more reserve then a group 24 and isn't much bigger. You have not had an issue up to now so "keep it simple".

RE: Seasonal Site...pay the annual trailer registration or not

It depends on the state licensing regulations. Some states will require you to make up for the missing year of fees if you license it again later on. Then the bill is really large! Maybe better to "pay as you go".

RE: gas additive

SeaFoam is better, lasts longer, and lubricates everything. I've had StaBil gum up my 6300 watt Yamaha Gen Set in just one year. Had to take off the carb and clean/blow it out. Use it in riding mower, chain saw, weed wip,and of course, the motorhome. No more StaBil for me!X-2, SeaFoam is the best, I used to use Stabil, never again.
Same with me!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Hey Ford guys hows your fuel tank?

Bio-D is as nasty a fuel as we've ever tried to use in this country. In our area farmers are having fits from fungus growing in their equipment and storage tanks. Seems that it has a "shelf life" (sorry, wrong term) of 6 months then it goes bad. A lot of farmers equipment sits for more than 6 months then gets ran like crazy for a month or two, several of the local crowd had to flush their fuel systems from tank to motor and still lost very injectors. It's almost impossible to find straight diesel in these parts.
You may already know this but Power Service has a product named Bio Kleen that we used in our fleet vehicles and the storage tanks to kill the fungus. There are other brands I am sure. Sure would be cheaper than injectors.

RE: Hey Ford guys hows your fuel tank?

My '06 truck has had the fuel tank replaced because it leaked when full. That was 4 years ago and no further problems. Probably a different issue then the OP's report.

RE: Gel coat cleaner

Just did mine using Meguiar's One Step Compound. It did a fantastic job!
Does it say to follow up with a wax after using that product? Just curious as that is the normal process when using a cleaner compound.

RE: Metal Valve Stem maintenance

Just a FYI about metal valve stem caps, which the article recommended. I recently had difficulty removing the metal valve caps on my Honda to check tire pressures. Found out that the caps were aluminum and corroded and stuck to the valve stem. This was due to the Mag Chloride (salt) used on the roads in the winter. So be sure the caps are not aluminum if you live in snow country.

RE: Summer fuel prices

The Keystone joke!!! Built the refineries in the Dakotas and employ the people here and keep the oil up north were it's needed. What happens every time a hurricane hits the Gulf?!?!
If you think there was a stink about a pipeline being built just watch if they start to consider a refinery!!!! NIMBY-not in my back yard!! Kind of like a nuclear power plant.:E
