RE: Williston Wal-Mart cracking down...

Saying the industries should set up housing is easy, doing it is vastly more difficult. Even with the land, they would have to get permits, utilities, roads, environmental impact waivers, defeat local property owner's opposition and jump through multiple hoops and dodge multiple obstacles. Figure three years minimum. Doesn't really help anything now. It sure does not help now BUT the oil companies had plenty of time prior to beginning to produce oil or gas for the planning and working with local folks to provide the needed infrastructure. Geological studies, test drilling and drill site planning take time.

RE: Extra fuel filter

My opinion? No. Change them regularly and relax. X2 I felt the same way until the newly changed filter collapsed and shut down the engine in a remote area in our state. Fortunately I had that spare and was able to get back on the road quickly. I also changed brands after that!

RE: Need campground around Pikes Peak area

Mueller is a beautiful park, but like many Colorado parks, it is reserved well in advance. Weekends are especially difficult. It isn't everyone's cup o'tea, but we like this one. Not fancy, no concrete, but utilities are good, it's quiet, and it's available. May Museum RV Park Sluggo Have to agree that Golden Eagle, ie May RV Park is not for everyone. It has not had improvements in years and most sites are not level. Many of the utility hookups are in the wrong place so long hoses and cables will be needed. We stayed there a couple of times in the past but now there are other better choices.

RE: Need help estes park or colorado springs with two kids

Since you mentioned horseback riding we stayed at Garden of the Gods Campground near Colorado Springs some years ago and took a horseback ride into Garden of the Gods Park. It was a great experience and I am not a great horse person. The stable was within walking distance of the campground, which is fairly nice though to me it is a bit crowded. We now camp at either a state park or Mountaindale Campground when we visit the area. We spent a lot of time in the Colorado Springs area when our kids were young, not much in Estes Park if that helps.

RE: When should I start Seafoaming a generator?

Page 2: Also with small engines such as portable generators.. Make sure the engine and fuel system is rated for E-10 or higher... I have heard of folks who had lawn mowers go bad quickly and the mechanic said it was the blasted E-10,, I don't know if he was blowing smoke or not but I do know you can still get real gasoline in many states if you shop around right, and I know it burns better than alcohol.. I don't know if it burns cleaner or dirtier, but I know it has more punch (More bang per gallon,, alas the one Pure Fuel station I know of it's still less bang per buck) JMO, but I think too many "mechanics" blame E10 for other issues. We have had E10 around here for years. It is in my 17 year old snowblower, 14 year old mower, and 12 year old outboard. All start and run fine whenever I need them. I do keep them maintained and have added Stabil for many years but have found Seaform to work better. None have had carburetor work to date either. Again, JMO from a 44 year experienced mechanic. And as for non E10 gas, yes it will help an engine run better but around here there is one station in the entire metro area that has some but it is too far for me to travel to and in my case-what for!

RE: Ford 6.7 debacle just gets crazier

HOPE YOU ARE STILL LOOKING AT THIS POSTING.\ GOT A LETTER FROM PATRICK LAW FIRM IN DALLAS TX. PHONE 214-665-9510 OR 1-888-LEMON-81 AND TALK TO THEM ABOUT YOUR TROUBLE WITH 2007-2011 F-TRUCKS DIESEL. I got a similar letter concerning my '06 truck and believe it was just a fishing expedition by a law firm looking for work.

Lots of good ideas here for a portable grill. We have an Olympian from Camco. We have had it over 15 years and it still grills great. Here is mine.

RE: Hitchhiker fiver

I do not have the same model you are asking about but mine is a DA 31.5. We have owned it for over 5 years, bought it used, and have not had any serious issues. Just the usual tightening or adjusting that seems to be normal with any RV. This is our second NUWA product as we had a Snowbird prior to this unit. So, 15 years of NUWA RV's and am very satisfied. If we ever change RV's it will be a NUWA product. I have used a 1 ton SWR truck with each unit and they have performed well without any unstability that some worry about. And all weights are within specs. And my wife sometimes drives too.

RE: Parks in Co.

Yep. Stayed at both. Both are nice. Ft Collins KOA was a little pricy I thought. Was $49.00 per night back in Sept. Very easy access to Poudre Canyon on up to Cameron Pass if you want to see some moose. Riverside in Loveland is nice with easy access to Big Thompson Canyon and Estes Park or Rocky Mtn National Park. Boyd Lake State Park is nice but is on the east side of Loveland and will be further away from the sight seeing. Enjoy your trip.:) I have to agree with these comments as we have also stayed at both over the years. In fact we stayed at Lakeside when it first opened and was not a KOA. Pads are paved, roads are gravel. Good amenities but is a bit pricy as mentioned. We have been staying at Riverside annually for many years as it is an older campground. Roads and sites are gravel and there are lots of mature trees which have been trimed in recent years to open up the views a bit. Prices are reasonable and they do offer some discounts, ie Passport America, Good Sam, etc. Both are close to many activities, shopping, resturants, sight seeing, etc. It just depends on your priorities. Enjoy!!!

RE: LED light over door

you will be dong your neighbor a disservice having that light come on and off all night long. bumpy Really?? If it is coming on then someone/something is moving around near the door and I would think that you or your neighbor might want to know about that! Besides, it can be returned to a regular on/off light easily.

RE: 2011 F350 CETANE BUSTER

Use it in every tank. Too many horror stories out there about lubricity starved HPFP's committing suicide. It may interest some to look at this study of how much lubrication is added to diesel fuel by various additives. Sadly, the Ford PM-22-A is not on this list, I wonder how it would do???? Diesel Place Lubricity Testing That study is 5 years old and I'm sure products have changed over time. Too bad it hasn't been updated. Also it was a study of LUBRICITY-how the product lubricates components of the fuel system like fuel pumps and injectors. The Ford product mentioned here along with some others is for raising the cetane level of the fuel. A higher cetane level aids in combustion of the fuel in the cylinders and results in better starting and operation. Many fuels today only have the minimum cetane rating of 40, hence the need for a cetane additive. If you could get fuel with about a 45 or higher you would see a difference in performance. Some "premium" fuels are higher but there are no set standards so I'm not sure what "premimum" means to different suppliers.

RE: Consumer Cellular

We have had my wife's phone thur them for 5 years and it has been a good experience. Good coverage in most places but in remote places my Verizon plan may have coverage where hers does not. Then other times it is reversed. We got ours using Good Sam and got 10% off vs. AARP's 5%. (Better deal and AARP doesn't get anything!)

RE: Southwest and RMNP Colorado Camping - Advice & feedback

Does anyone know if the Train Ride to from Durango to Silverton is a "one day" trip? It looks like the arrival of the train into Silverton and the departure back to Durango only leaves about 2 hours in Silverton. Is that enough, or should we plan for an overnight in Silverton? You may also consider taking the train one way and bus the other way. This saves a couple of hours in your day. We have done it both ways-train up and back and train up and bus back- and preferred the train/bus trip as for us the train became tiring on the return trip. Yes, the scenery is great but seating isn't the most comfortable. And I believe that the two hours in Silverton was enough. As others pointed out you could always make a day trip to Silverton and the surrounding area.JMHO

RE: fantastic fan vent cover

I installed the Max Air II cover over the Fansastic Fan. It will not allow the cover to fully open and restricts some air flow, but it will not destroy the opening mechanism. The open/close motor of the Fantastic Fan is resistance sensitive. My thoughts also.. Been there, done that.... X2- mine has been on since new without any issues.

RE: Questions about ordering new F350

First on the differential I'm think I should get the 3.73 electronic locking option rather than the non-limited slip or the limited slip version. Am I right? Back to one of your original questions. I would recommend the locking option as it is more reliable and less prone to problems as the limited slip version.JMHO

RE: Natural Gas as Fuel

On edit: perhaps the government would make some sort of subsidy grant available to help with the cost of conversion to NG, to promote the use of this cleaner, plentiful fuel, instead of oil! The US government did just that in the 90's and it didn't go far due to a lot of what has already been brought up here. And look where it got the government--broke!

RE: Natural Gas as Fuel

I would not consider natural gas as a fuel. As a fleet mechanic we tried natural gas in a number of applications and found that since it has a lower BTU content then gasoline or diesel fuel we needed larger tanks on the vehicles to equal the mileage that a vehicle could run on gas or diesel. In some applications there wasn't enough room for larger tanks so the vehicles had to fueled more often. This wasn't a big issue in our fleet since we never traveled far from base. But I could see a big problem with traveling far from home with an RV and trying to locate a fuel stop. Power was a bit lower also which caused more fuel to be used to make up the difference. JMO
