RE: What's in your roadside emergency kit

Fuel filters, oil filter, water pump, belts, multi meter, duct tape, many tools, lights, rug to lay on, electrical supplies, air line and fittings and my road side card.
When my hydraulic pump failed I was able to limp into a shop a couple miles away. Very hard to steer without the pump working.

RE: Norcold refrigerators

My Norcold is 17 years old and works great. Yes it will die some day.
They have had many problems with the newer ones I understand.
When mine fails I will put in a new cooling unit. I would get the extended plan on a new one and usually do not buy the extended plan.

RE: Dry camping gen set

Why would you need it to run all night. Nothing against generators have one of my own but in 20 plus years of camping I have never run mine all night.
Just curious.

RE: Towing Boat with Class A

We launch our boat with our DP. Now problem what so ever. Almost as easy as a pick up. The ones telling you that the rear will be in the water have never launched a boat. The rear of my DP.is not even close to the water with all the rear over hang it is further from the water than my pick up truck is.
And yes someone will post a picture of a MH. in the lake. It can happen just like it can with a truck. When we had a 5th wheel we took 2 vehicles to the lake one time. The next week I had a frame mounted hitch welded to my 5th wheel and towed the boat behind the 5th. I did this safely for close to 7 years.

RE: Should be get new tires

Age means more than miles. They are most likely 1 year older than your RV.
At 3,1/2 years they should be fine.

RE: Fiberglass roof cleaning. White residue on MH.

It is a 1995 Beaver Patriot in very good condition. I would have to assume that the condition that it is in the previous owner had it under cover most all the time. I have it under cover as well. But the roof is less than shiny and white streaks run down the sides.
Some say use Bar Keepers Friend and some say Dawn. Guess neither can hurt just want to get it clean and ready for summer.

RE: CAMPGROUNDS WITH SEASONAL SITES

Get used to it because most all parks that open year round have some long term guests. We have seen it in Washington, Oregon, California and Idaho. I have talked to many in our travels and some are down on their luck because the economy is bad and some just plain like the RV lifestyle but no longer travel. If you take the time to meet these people you may be surprised at how nice they can be.
I don't care if you are nightly, weekly, monthly, seasonal, long term.
It just doesn't matter. There are good people everywhere.
Yes there are plenty of these parks that need to tidy up the place.

Fiberglass roof cleaning. White residue on MH.

I am getting ready to clean my fiberglass roof. Lots of white streaks running down the sides.
I have a white 3M scratch type pad. What do I use as a cleaner?
The roof is not painted and I plan to buff it after I clean it.
I may even go crazy and apply some sort of coating but I am undecided as of now. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

RE: Road Information CA 140 to Yosemite

We did it in December. 34 foot and toad. We took 140 out of Merced. See no reason to go further to Bakersfield. On 140 there was a huge slide and you have to take a short detour over two light controlled one way bridges. Before you get there you have to unhook your toad because the bridges are 40 foot max. I do not know if they have fixed the slide but check Caltrans website.
All this may sound complicated but was no problem at all. May have a slightly longer wait at the bridges than December but that is it.

RE: no power to battery switch and steps on Newmar Kountry Star

My 1995 MH has a switch inside the door that shuts off all the 12 volt. I hit it from time to time by accident. May check if you have one.

RE: What's in a name

Not to knock Monaco products but why is it that people say that Monaco ruined the Beaver brand? Also hear of Monaco problems in the later years.
Did they build them different than the upper end Monacos?
No disrespect intended.

RE: Rockaway Beach Oregon

I live on the Oregon Coast and it can be windy on the front row. But it is also as beautiful as it gets. If the wind will not bother you go for it. As for rain it is unlikely July - September. And September is the best month in my opinion.

RE: What is your most memorable/fun RV trip?

We bought our first RV a 18 foot Prowler TT.in 1990. After 2 5th wheels and the current MH. we have taken so many trips it is hard to pick one. They are all different. Camping with friends, camping with family, camping before kids. Lake, beach and mountain camping. It sure has been a great way of life for us.
They all have been good. I will turn 49 this year and really want to go across the country to the East coast. Was born there and have not been back since I was a kid.
If I had to pick one I guess it would be one of the many trips to Yosemite Nat. Park.

Had the same problem in a 5th wheel we used to own. Took me a year to find it. They had made a huge nest in my water tank. May want to check yours.

RE: Article on NPS restricting access

Environmentalists push most of these issues. That is a fact. They cause more harm than good and guess what they all live in stick built houses and drive automobiles.
Our country is turning to a look do not touch area.

RE: Best NP

Utah is beautiful for sure. My favorite is Yosemite National Park.
We like all the water falls, all the hikes and a great place to ride bikes in the valley. The high country is beautiful as well.

RE: RV Barge

There is a Caltrans diesel powered barge that takes you across the Delta to Ryer Island in California to an RV park called Snug Harbor. I have taken that trip 3 times with our old 5th wheel with a 18 foot boat attached. Yes double towing. The barge holds many cars or 4 or 5 RVs. Best done at high tide as the entry and exit points can be steep at low tides. Pretty cool. That would be a nice rental.
Pogoil.
If you could rent that one you would get very far because it's a cable ferry. It doesnt have a prop or rudder. The diesel engine turns
pullies that pull you across the river on the cable.
Not going to take the time to look it up but I believe you are mistaken.
We took the ferry called The Real McCoy. It is a diesel powered free running ferry.
The one you speak of is the much smaller of the 2 that go to Ryer Island. It is a cable ferry called the J- Mac Ferry. It goes across Steamboat Slough.
The Real McCoy is on the Rio Vista side of the Sacramento River.
I understand that the new ferry is called The Real McCoy 2.
