No luck on the low speed idle screw, if anything it was a bit worse 1/4 turn out, so I tried it 1/4 turn in from the original setting, and it was about the same as where I started, so I took it off one last time and put it at its original setting.
Hmm--got me there. The one I worked on it cured it after adjustment.
Surging, and needing the choke on always means too lean, starving for fuel. If all the tiny pasages are clean I guess I would change out or drill the main jet a tiny bit larger.
I believe jet #'s go larger with larger #s. However the pin drills you use to enlarge jets are--larger # is smaller size. I guess just to confuse everybody.

Pull the carb off and adjust the low speed mixture screw a 1/4 turn to the left and reinstall. It is a screw driver adjustment (flush with the carb body),but you can't get a screw driver on it without removing the carb. Repaired one like that while back.

All engines that I know of circulate water through the heater when the engine is running. Thermostat only controls the water through the radiator.
My Prius blows heat in 30 seconds after start up. Has an electric unit that then shuts off after the engine coolant warms up. Nice.

Its perdy simply logical thinking. There must be room for grease.
If its tight.....even zero preload/zero play, there is no room for grease ! ??
A wheel bearing should never be tight! (zero play)
Too loose can be bad too, because then the rollers are not utilizing their full surface on the races. Ideally, one should just barely feel play in the wheel tire combo.
I was doing wheel bearings in the late 50's early 60's when the front wheels all had ball bearings. And I remember after tapered roller,....when disc brakes first came out, they (GM) called for a preload on the front wheel bearings to try to solve the problem of brake drag.(sqeeking) It was a disaster of wheel bearing failure (frying.......they couldn't get a factory bulletin out fast enough to stop the preloading.
In other applications where bearings are running in oil, they do call for a slight preload, especially on new bearings,.......again, logical thinking.
Exactly correct. A slight amount of free play that you can feel but not see is what I went for. Got to have room for the grease.

If you extend it much more than 6", it will flap around and make noise or be a distraction. Just attach the puller hook into the loop when you close it, and it will put enough tension on it that it will roll up straight.
I like this idea. The weight of the pull rod should make it wind up straight every time.

Just pull the awning out part way by grabing the arms. The strap usually magicly appears.

Should be no fuel injected while coasting as fuel injection systems cut off fuel while coasting. I would guess sticking injectors. Fresh fuel may clear up the problem.

When all said and done you want a very tiny bit of clearence at the bearing. Why? Because you need room for a film of grease to get between the rollers and the race way. Too tight and you are riding on metal to metal contact.

The EB locks the torque converter when on and you are coasting. Sounds like it stayed locked even when you accelerated. Thus the lower 1500 rpm and torque feeling.

Interesting. I have also read some of this data. I believe in the next several years we are going to see the elimination of the torque converter all together for MPG reasons/standards. Already several cars with what is called "Auto Clutch" systems. The torque converter is the fuel eater/heat producer in all transmissions now. I suspect fuel mileage standards will drive this technology forward.

#1 Really it's a matter of wire size and the availability of ample current from the truck batts - remember, current takes the path of least resistance. Now if you were to remove the trucks battery and try to start it, it would blow the fuse in the charge line from the rv batt.
#2 Yes if the 12V is always present like with Chev and Dodge. Ford has a relay that isolates the trucks battery when the ign is off.
Correct. My Chev has a 30A fuse in the always powered charge line. This has never once blown, which tells me the current is never even close to 30A. No doubt limited by the small wire size and length.

I don't know.... I'm pretty sure they put some thought into making the light come on when it does. I read the reason they went to that, was because of so many folks going to the dealer for repair, when it was really just normal gauge fluctuation. Really, how % of drivers would know what is "good" oil pressure, vs "not good". I'd venture to guess its in the low single digits.
Plus... being a repair shop manage.... It's pretty clear to me that no matter what sort of gauge or light or whatever i used, most driver's will ignore it, up to the point a rod goes through the side of their block. It's amazing how many customers come in because they saw their "check oil light" come on (i.e. no oil pressure warning). Or, a few times a month, we tow somebody in who "needs a new battery" because their car died while driving, and their engine is seized or they've had some other catastrophic engine failure.
I remember years back while talking to my grandmother about her now being alone, and was her son taking care of her car, checking the oil for her etc. Her responce was--I'm sure it is fine as the oil gauge says it is normal.

All this stuff is programable with the DIC or your remote. Lights blink or not, horn beep or not, headlights off after exit--- instant, 20 sec, 60 sec, etc, etc, etc. Will need your owners manual to help you.

If I remember correctly my oven (Magic Chef) may do the same thing. I light the pilot, close the door, then after a minute or two I hear it roaring and heating up. After it goes quiet you put in the cake or whatever and I never hear it roar ever again. Seems to bake/cook ok although I have never monitored the temperature inside. Do you think maybe the second stage pilot thing maybe is designed to just hold its set temperature? I guess I'm going to have to try it now. Dang it now I'm curious!

I see so many lights coming at me in the daytime, that--now I REALY NOTICE the one car that doesn't have its lights on. Go figure.

Agree with mowertech and above. Transfer case is lubricated by spinning gears/chains. Most transmissions only lubricate when the engine is running.

Crankshaft position sensor.
X3. There was even a TSB about this back then.
