RE: Provincial Parks sucked me in again

As long as this is kept non-political and civil (as it has been), there's no reason to delete anything.

RE: Taking a Shotgun through Canada

Personally I would explain that I am going into a “KNOWN” bear territory in “ALASKA”. Make no inference about shooting a Canadian bear as they think more of their bear than they do of their beaver.
...............
Not really so, shooting a beaver would be like shooting a bald eagle. :S
It's important to note however that if you actually need to shoot a Canadian bear, you must first verify it's passport or birth certificate! :E. :B.

RE: Thinking About Calling It Quits

........... There are some more equations that are figuring in on my decision also. If I cannot resolve them I probably will not have any choice in the matter. Ronnie
I think the key lies within this and since none of us really know your situation, it would be impossible to realistically recommend a direction.
Like everything else in life things change. Maybe it's time to simply take a break; park the rv in a reasonably priced seasonal site somewhere and just enjoy having an address for a time. Like Sully indicated when things change (and they will) then change with them.
With your reference to itchy feet, I don't see how you would manage with a stick home when it would appear that your mind would still be on the road somewhere.
Good luck with whatever your decisions are.

RE: Courtesy Car at Rv Parks?

I also have never seen a courtesy car available at a campground. There are many campgrounds that offer a shuttle service or have tour arrangements to major visiting points.
We tow our toad about 50% of the time. Last Sepember we left the toad at home while touring around the eastern coast. While in Myrtle Beach, I called Thrifty and they picked me up and dropped me off at our campsite when I rented a car for 10 days. It worked really well.

We use everything but the oven. Never used the oven in any rv.

RE: Height of Carports and RV's?

Point of reference; my motor home is 12' 9" to the top of the ac's. Personally, I would want about a foot above that.

RE: Fall Vermont Trip

Just a note on the reservations.
We're not in Vermont but in up-state NY across the lake from Burlington Vt. Our campground, where we have a seasonal, was full Columbus Day weekend. Several of the campgrounds in the region closed or had limited availability after hurricane Irene and the other campgrounds absorbed the camper traffic. Some of the closed ones may not reopen.
Another factor is that the same weekend (Columbus Day) is also the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday. As such many border state campgrounds are busy due to the holiday.
My advice is to call ahead or make reservations if you will be in the northern regions of the border states over the holiday weekend.

I never saw a difference in torquing either one. My personal preference is Robertson for ease of use.

RE: Is your Dash A/C enough in the summer while driving?

Dash is ok up until after 80-85 degrees or so ambient temperature and for a couple hours. After that the genny and roof air comes on.

RE: What do you use your outdoor shower for?

Rinsing out the wet bay, also washing hands after handling sewer equipment.
We have used it to clean shoes, flip-flops etc... at the beach.

RE: Weber Grille Price Fixing ?

Amazon has them for $159. Could you please give me a link to that. The only thing I found on Amazon was $179 with free ship or $159 with $28 ship and not eligible for free Prime shipping. Thanx
This is what I saw, I did not check shipping.:E

RE: I like to dream

So where would the staff stay? :B
So I just figured out the loan payments over 15 years and it would only be $16,341 per month. Anyone want to split this with me?Assuming that we split the time 50-50, I'd be glad to take the larger part of the payment (341) as long as you handle the smaller part (16).

RE: Public Transport into Montreal

Aahh the joys of "La Fete de Cone Orange"
So, I would go the Valleyfield Beauharnois route and avoid all those bridges and tunnels. Roads on that route are good, after early morning, traffic almost nil and now with the 30 bypass open around Sainte-Catherine-Delson he would avoid all the problem areas.
What do you think about that route?
I have been on all those roads many times and most even by bicycle (the Quebec ones).
Sidney
Thinking about it, that would be the best bet. The 30 would get them nicely to the 20 and into Camping Alouette. Then get a tour bus into Montreal from the campground.

RE: Weber Grille Price Fixing ?

Weber does not set their prices, the retailers do.
That is just hard to believe when you search it on the internet and 50 places all have it for $179 and none less and few more. :)
Weber provides a price recommendation, the retailer can sell for whatever price he can demand; some are higher, some are lower.
Amazon has them for $159.

RE: Public Transport into Montreal

Sid,
The Mercier is an unknown with it's lane restrictions and closures happening all the time. The other thing is I would not go near highway 20 on the way to the Champlain Bridge, it's can be a nightmare inside the Turcotte interchange.
There is also a 5-ton (10,000-lbs) vehicle restriction off the 15 exit ramp at the present time and these restrictions are popping up everywhere without warning.
That's why I would stay along the northern route (40) and use the Lafontaine tunnel, it's construction work should be done by the spring.

RE: Public Transport into Montreal

We were hoping to avoid driving through Montreal on our way to Quebec City to avoid the highway construction that we had been warned about. So planned to swing north avoiding the city itself by heading to St. Jerome and continue on the north side of the St. Lawrence.
That will likely take you 2 hours out of your way to save about 20-30 minutes of traffic at the very most on highway 40 on a weekend. I actually drove the 40 last night after going out for dinner in Pointe-Claire and did not have any delay whatsoever..
I would follow JackD's advice.

I have two Weber 200's, I bought them both on sale at Sears (not at the same time). I paid $179 in2010 for he first one and $189 for the other last summer.
