RE: Helpful vendors or scam artists?

I was caravaning with friends hauling an Airstream. I was in a new Class C. We stopped for gas at the place you mention in Williams, AZ. I was pumping gas and two of guys come running from the shop next door. Real charming. Real scam artists. I waved them off. My gullible friends fell for their pitch about needing new tires because their "suspension was shot" and putting groves in the tires which "could blow." I wasn't as charming as the scam artists and could not talk my friend out of spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on new tires. I'm sorry to read these guys are still up to no good.

RE: changes to Phoenix Cruiser

The fresh water tank filler on the PC is too small to hold a hose. The inexpensive water tank filler solved the "burp" problem on my PC.

RE: Evaluating a Manufacturer

If you mean Phoenix Cruiser then I can assure you that customer service is a priority with this manufacturer. You may want to read the posts on the Phoenix Cruiser forum for more background.

RE: Rv site San francisco

We stayed in the San Francisco RV Resort in Pacifica in August. Mind you, it is a parking lot and sites are very close together. Quite pricey and constant turn over. The cheap sites are on the road and so close together that slides can barely be opened. The view of the Ocean was obscured by fog. Nonetheless there is an upside -- it is 1.5 miles from the BART into San Francisco and that was a major plus. Many just drive their rigs to BART and get the train. Others took the bus to the station. The bus is not at the "Resort" entrance. It is further across the street and its schedule did not suit us. Either way, the "Resort" closeness to BART is the only reason to stay there, IMHO.

RE: E450 Vacuum Distributor Replacement

Had the same problem: no a/c or heat through dash vents, only through the window defrost. Took it to a Ford dealer who told me they charged $135 an hour to look at the problem and it would probably take two hours to diagnose. Took it to my local mechanic who fixed the wires the mice ate, charged me $32 and I have a/c and heat through the dash vents. Just saying ...

RE: brace for norcold refrigerator door?

Mine fell off. Fixed with JB Weld and two screws until the new, under warranty, door arrived. Worked fine for a one month trip camping. Norcold rep told me the old door had lousy hinges and new door was "reinforced." Saved the old one in case this happens again.

RE: Would you be happy with this fix??

One last point on the 1/2" spacer I mentioned previously. It was taken out of a brand new Phoenix Cruiser and immediately evened out the motor home. Until that spacer came out I was getting advice to get air bags, new springs, etc. It's removal had no effect on ride quality. That had to be fixed with Koni shocks and a heavy duty Roadmaster sway bar. I'm just saying there may be an obvious fix. If not, I feel really bad you are getting stuck with this mess.

RE: Would you be happy with this fix??

I have a 26' Class C that had a 1 1/2" lean on the passenger side. Called the manufacturer and they had my shop remove the 1/2" spacer that was between the spring pack and axle on the driver side. The manufacturer had inserted that spacer there to compensate for the weight of the slide. It was unnecessary. A smaller unit by the same manufacturer complained about a lean and they were instructed to put the spacer in -- they did so and that corrected the lean. Worth a look.
