RE: for diebetic and/or weight lose wishers

Both my DH and I are diabetic and we love the Edy's Slow Churned Sugar Free ice cream.

RE: Homemade wine...cheap, easy and not too darn bad!

Many years ago my DH and I made two bottles of wine from the wild grapes on our property. No fancy equipment, no wine yeast, etc. It was so very, very good. Would dearly love to do it again, but the wild grapes on the property we have now don't make it to maturity. Oh, we do have a winery in Indianapolis, Easley's, I think, that will sell gallons of the different grape juices when they are doing the different wines themselves. Hm-m-m.

RE: 70 yr old Person's Childhood Omelette

Oh, but those childhood memories are so great. My mom used to make a recipe that my Austrian Grandma'am used to make and we'd all eat it like we were starved. Not the right spelling, but it was called Shinicklities. A dumpling dough was made out of white bread and milk then very finely diced hard salami was added in. Dumplings were formed and dropped into a pot of hot chicken broth. Pure heaven! My one cousin's wife is Polish and he sent me a Polish recipe from her that is supposed to be this, but with a different name. Mom didn't make it very often, but just for rare special occasions and didn't use a recipe. I'm afraid to even try it.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

I got this recipe some time ago from the "Cooks,...." forum on here and have shared it with my friends on the Cooking forum on Gardenweb. They love it for a quick fix and for children to make. We've had the Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate cake mix combined with the Angel Food cake mix in the motorhome ever since although I'm getting ready to add bags of other flavors. DH even used it recently on a short trip by himself. We use the 45 second timing and it is absolutely perfect. You can drop a few flavored chips on top or it it after mixing, but we just like it plain.

RE: Life Style? Doing what?

That's sort of our situation. DH thinks we should get up at the crack of dawn, do everything all day, then go to bed super early. Hey, I'm retired. I like to go, see and do, but I want to sleep in when I want to, go out and see the sights on the days I feel like it and so forth. I'm retired. I don't have to keep a working person's schedule any longer. Now, I'm not saying I should spend every day sleeping in or staying up 'way late, but I agree that I want a more laid back time of it.

RE: Easy - eye catching desert from dutch oven

Oh, that does look so good! Will have to try it. I do love apricot anything and they would go really good as an addition and glaze for a chocolate cake made this way.

RE: Crockpot Use In Towed Not Being Towed?

Thank you for your response. I know it can't be done now. I don't dare buy another crockpot. I've had one in the house then at Christmas, there was a sale so I bought one for the motorhome and one for a neice. The neice already had one so now I have three, one of which I will gift off some day.

RE: Follow-Up On C.S. Greasy Fingerprints On Leather

The problems with Camping World, Indianapolis have been resolved. We received a refund from them and a generous offer to detail our motorhome. I have talked to the head of the Service Department there and to the service rep we worked with. I've always like the people there, just didn't like what happened. Thank you Mr. Lemonis, Mark and Chris. Moderator, you can close this thread. Thank you.

Crockpot Use In Towed Not Being Towed?

Is there someway I can plug in my crockpot in my Jeep on my way to meeting DH who has the motorhome right now? No cigarette lighter, but a plug-in place for charging cell phones and other items like that. Would an inverter work? It would be about an 8 hour drive and I'd like a nice dinner ready when I got there. TIA

RE: Angel Flight...

Being a member of the Patriot Guard Riders since shortly after they were formed in Indiana, I've participated in many, many escorts for our fallen warriors, flag lines at the place of services and flag lines at the cemetaries. It is the saddest thing I've ever done, other than burying my own son. Yes, regardless of whether we are male or female, we cry. I've even cried while hugging one of the widows who didn't want to let go. I cry whenever Taps is played. Its something you never become use to.

RE: Due Diligence Fires

DH went out several days ago and bought two new extinguishers for our motorhome. After reading this entire thread, I'm going out and buying more for the motorhome and for the towed Jeep.

RE: Pickled Okra?

Here are two recipes I picked up on Gardenweb.com. Always sterilize your jars and lids before filling. Neither of these recipes were processed because they were kept the fridge and eaten fairly soon. I would process mine in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes then they wouldn't need to be refrigerated until they were opened. If you like a little more spice in your life, add a couple of hot peppers to each jar. PICKLED OKRA 2 lb small pod okra 4 Tbl dill seed 4 cloves garlic 3 cups vinegar 1 1/2 cups water 1/2 cup salt Pack clean okra into pint jars Put 1 Tbl dill seed and 1 garlic clove in each jar Bring vinegar, salt and water to a hard boil, pour over okra. Let ripen 4 weeks Makes 4 pints. So crispy! So good! This was Southern Living recipe from the early 80's. OKRA PICKLES Pack quart jars with washed okra. To each jar add: 2 tsp. dill seed 1 small clove garlic 1/8-1/4 tsp. dried crushed red pepper 1 slice onion In a large pot, bring the following to a boil: 1 quart white vinegar 2 quarts water 1/2 cup salt Pour into jars. Seal. If I remember correctly, the liquid will fill (after packing with okra and other ingredients) about 3 or 4 quart jars. And they are ready to eat in about 3 days. I use the same recipe for my dill pickles and my pickled watermelon rind (we like them dill instead of sweet).

RE: Follow-Up On C.S. Greasy Fingerprints On Leather

Thank you so much, Mr. Lemonis. I truly appreciate your response and will probably try Camping World service centers again, but maybe not the same location. It will take a while to have some confidence in that one. Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, I do have faith in Mr. Lemonis and I do believe he truly cares. I'm sure its difficult to be a CEO of so many facilities, but hopefully things will improve at ones that are not up to par since he is stepping up at looking into the problems.

Just checked my email and there was an email from Mr. Lemonis letting me know he received my copies of the two emails I sent him. On a Sunday evening! Yes, I do believe he cares, people.

RE: Follow-Up On C.S. Greasy Fingerprints On Leather

Okay, below are copies of the emails I sent to Mr. Lemonis. The first states "Read" in the Status section, however, it could have been read by another person and misplaced. That has happened in offices. The second is "Unread" since it was sent just after midnight this morning. My name and RV.net name was on the first one so he could send me an email through private messaging. On the second, I gave my name, address and phone number. No, I don't need or expect a phone call, but look for some type of a response. Now, please tell me where I was not calm, mannerly or respectful. You know, I just don't get some of you people on here. Most are very friendly and open, but others want to accuse you of something else, call you names or assume you're a weird, out of control, dishonest, rude, and as one poster stated "goof". That was also the one who said I'd posted many complaints about CWs and other service centers I'd been to when I'd never been to any other than the one we went to after our bad luck at the CW. And I will state right here, we went to Derby City RV in Clarksville, IN and can give nothing but praise about their treatment of us and our motorhome. I have hopes that this will end the same way. And, yes, I think Mr. Lemonis does care enough that he does want to fix problems with the different CWs. Yes, ro_sie, I am an adult, an almost seventy year old female adult that was raised on manners and courtesy. I was taught at a very young age that that was the only acceptable way to live life and that's how I've lived my life. I may misspell or make other typos because I start typing so fast and don't always use Spell Check. I know I accidentally called our system the AquaHot and the HydroHot when it should have been HydraHot. I can get upset, like anyone else, I am still human, but I still do my best to be calm, mannerly and courteous. I don't think I was otherwise in my emails to Mr. Lemonis. Oh, I do need to apologize to Sidney. I was upset by another's post and took Sidney's post out of context. Sidney, I do apologize for not doing my best and not taking your post as it was meant. Thank you for trying to help. From: PGR_Skye Sent: 03/06/12 01:29pm Subject: Camping World, Indianapolis, IN Sir, My we took our 2001 Beaver into this facility in mid January to have the fluids changed as well as service to the generator and the Hydro-Hot system as we were planning a long trip. They assured us they had a mechanic experienced with the Hydro-Hot system. Shortly thereafter, the mechanics found a break in the brake line and notified us. We did't question them and had them repair it. Three of the hydraulic jack had failed and they tried to find replacements, as did we, with no luck. Then they told us the HYD cooling fan motor(sorry, I said just fan in my post on RV.net) needed to be replaced. We trusted them totally and told them to do it at $968.50. The motor had to be ordered. We called or went in to the facility each week to see if our unit was ready to be picked up. The reason we would go in was when our phone call was not returned. On February 28,2012, we went into C.W. to find out if our unit was ready since we knew that the fan motor had been received two or three weeks before and we hadn't gotten any calls from from the service department. When Chris saw us come in, he said he was just getting ready to call us as our Beaver was ready to go. We paid him after discovering we were overcharged for oil by quite a bit and that was corrected. Two days after bringing our unit home, my husband started up the Hydro-Hot and turned it off immediately. This system is usually so quiet that you can't even tell it's on. It was roaring and rattling so loud that you couldn't have heard the television if it had been on. Checked the fluid level and it was 'way below minimum. And there was no fluid leak. We have an appointment at an autorized Hydro-Hot service center on Monday. Hope your service department hasn't destroyed it. We paid $296.67 Also, I found black, greasy finger prints on the lower right side of the white leather driver's seat. A month and a half in your shop and hoping we don't have to pay for a new Hydro-Hot system. From: PGR_Skye Sent: 04/01/12 12:40am Subject: No Response To My Email Sent To You 3/6/2012 The email to you in my saved folder indicates someone at your end read it, but I've received no response. Now I'm getting bashed and called a liar by some on RV net for even mentioning my problem with Camping World in Indianapolis and that you posted on my thread that people should contact you. My post was "Never Again, Camping World" and you did post on there that you'd heard of none of the problems on there so to please contact you. You can read the full problem on my original post on there. I did email you about it. Since then, we took our Beaver to Derby City RV in Clarksville, IN on 3/12/2012 since they are a certified HydaHot Service Center. They removed the cover and discovered the burner head not fully seated. It was rotated in it's mount and one of the alignment tabs on the case was bent due to this not being aligned prior to being tightened down. It did not go into Camping World in January in this condition. We did have a bit of smoke coming from it and that is why we figured it needed to be serviced orginally. Derby City RV also found a nozzle that needed to be replaced, which they did. The HydraHot started performing properly as it had prior to being taken in to Camping World in Indianapolis. Since CW created a problem that we didn't have originally costing us time and fuel to take the unit to another repair center and a second bill to correct it, I feel that the original bill from CW for "servicing the HydraHot System" should be refunded. Oh, and we did get the greasy black fingerprints off the leather driver's seat with no bad after effects. Sincerely,

RE: My first RV was....

Forgot about it in another post (yes, I'm getting old), but it was a 1967 VW camper. We were in Japan when we ordered it new from Germany and picked it up on the east coast of the USA when we were on leave. Loved that camper.

RE: The bears are coming out

Love the picture of the bear waiting for for it's meal, the post about what Jim looked like before his first cup of coffee and also the last post about how they first thought it was complaining about gas prices. All brought me my laughs for the day.

Gee, such a critique on the situation, Sydney, I didn't spell his name right and no comments on the subject of the post. Sorry, I did have his name spelled right on my original post and my email to him. Just didn't check again when writing this post. I am corrected. Sorry Mr. Lemonis.

RE: It is Rattlesnake season, beware

We've had copperheads on our property at home and in some places in the rest of the county there are rattlesnakes. I don't like either one. Quite a few years ago a black snake struck our GSD, 'Kota. Though not considered a deadly snake, their bite is really dirty and within a couple of hours 'Kota had a huge pus pocket hanging from his rear leg and was moaning. Took him to the vet and he recovered nicely. One year later, he was struck by a copperhead in the same leg. We knew what happened and got him into an emergency vet clinic within an hour. The vet had one vial of anti-venom left and used it. 'Kota spent a couple of days at the vet's on IVs and made it with only a bad scar and a better sense of watching for snakes. DH had stepped on this copperhead before letting 'Kota out of the kennel so the snake was mad when 'Kota had stopped to see what the new critter was. DH shot the copperhead and took it to the emergency clinic when we picked up 'Kota. It was the biggest copperhead any of us had ever seen. 'Kota went off to the Rainbow Bridge several years ago due to natural causes and now we have Sig. We've had him 3+ years and so far no problems, but , I'm always afraid that he'll run into a copperhead.
