RE: Hitch for new to us HTT

I wouldn't recommend any htt or 12ft pup for a minivan.

RE: Before I totally lose hope (re: weights explanations?)

We have a old k3500 for towing duty. Carries everything needed for a family of 4, 88lb lab, car seats, strollers, bouncer, outdoor kitchen, outdoor mat, firewood etc.
All of that eats at the payload of a tow vehicle.

RE: Neighbor hit my MH!!!

Simply bumping the tailight on our pup, pushed the light through the panel, cracked the light, and was $3000 to repair. It is not going to be cheap.

RE: what did you do to your hybrid today??

Came home with a soaking wet new to us htt, after the first trip of the year was over. Overall good time, had to run to wally tonight a grab some canvas waterproofing spray. We had a ton of condensation and one window leaked completely through during Saturday nights storm.

RE: First time out with the Htt

I am towing 4000lbs with a 1 ton truck, and the truck has a 169" wheel base. I do not have any issues loading the bed with gear, hooking up an ultra light htt, and going. As for the second night, it rained, dealt with leaking window canvas, and wicked condensation everywhere. I had windows up/slightly open, bunk fans spinning, two glass windows opened, and heat. Nothing could compete with the rain/temp gradiant. The tents are permenantly attached, and I have a pea pod plus, as well as wedge to keep from rolling out, or off the kids beds.

RE: Finally kicking off 2012

We are currently out in ours at Otter Lake campground in north eastern pa. We had thunder last night but no rain. We had pup handle some wicked weather during its first few years of use.

First time out with the Htt

We finally had a chance to take out the starcraft. We are veteran campers and had no problems setting it up. It was our first time out with a 2 month old infant. The unit fits our family well. The side tent had the peapod plus, playmat and diaper station. Our 3 year old loved the rear top bunk and our lab slept at the foot of the rear bunks. We had the baby sleep in a travel swing for the night. Ill try the peapod later this evening. The k3500 cc performed well, 8ft bed full of whatever and no wdh needed. Haha one ton 169"wb towing!

RE: 98 K3500 SRW/5000lb gvw trailer wdh Y/N?

It is indeed a long truck 169" crew cab long bed. The hitch has surface rust and illegible stickers from circa 1997. Ill have to get it cut off, and install whatever class 5 that fits.

RE: 98 K3500 SRW/5000lb gvw trailer wdh Y/N?

I know that the hitch wt is a joke on the truck. The problem is the hardware between the two. I have a modest class 3 6000lb adjustable shank setup for moving the empty hybrid around. The reese setup is a little high as well, so I'd have to invest in a 6" drop shank, or just get the upgraded hitch and be done with it all.

98 K3500 SRW/5000lb gvw trailer wdh Y/N?

Hi I have a 98 k3500 with factory class IV hitch. Do I need to worry about not using a wdh hitch?
The trailer is a 21ft hybrid max 5000lb gvw/650lb tongue

RE: front bed/matress storage 2011 R-Vision Trail Sport 191E

Our bargain model starcraft utilizes straps to hold the front bunk, and side bunk mattress in place, and braced to the doors. I lay foam mattress pads in front and haven't stressed the setup a bit.

RE: Hybrid Camper Pricing

We traded our popup to get out of the misery. We had to dish out 2k out of pocket to say goodbye. The dealership is still sitting on the same 4 pups, mine included so there is no chance in hell of selling it privately, which I expected. The 2k was a bitter pill, but I don't have the time or lifestyle to setup the pup for demonstration.

RE: The dreaded job is done

I did some packing of the trailer this weekend. We had rain for 36 hours of it, so I didn't get to wash, open the beds, or work on sanitizing. Still can get freezing temps in NEPA, so I'm going to wait until next weekend to dewinterize/wash.

RE: HTT is home! TV upgrade

Haha, that's why I didn't even consider a half ton pickup for a 5000lb htt. We were in panic mode with 10k combined on 5.3, 3.42, 4L60e trailblazer pup combo.
