RE: Broken spring

While tuning up the 5er for a trip I noticed a broken leaf on the doorside front axle spring. To make a long story short I took the spring off and took it to a spring repair place. They fixed it in about 20 min. Charged me 20 bucks. Midway Spring Afton, MI
Sounds like you found a good place to do business.
I think I would be talking to them about maybe replacing all four with heaver springs. Get their opinion.

RE: Oh that smell. I now have it.

We never use chemicals and only once in a while catch a smell inside. I am wondering if your roof vent for the holding tank is compromised? Also could be we live in a cooler climate than you? Still why would you smell that inside?
Now that is a good question.

RE: LEVEL?

If you have a cook in the family, the only thing important is the stove. So level the stove and everything else will be close enough.

RE: 1990 Ford 460 FI major power loss

I would bypass the fuel selector before you replace the fuel pump. That would eliminate that question.

RE: Should I buy a new tire?

NO, if it's only in the wear portion of the tread. It will go away if you put enough miles on your coach.
I doubt if the tire guy would try to sell you a new tire, if you trust him, he would be the person to ask.

RE: Cracked holding tank roof vent... how to replace

I replaced mine with a metal one 10 years ago. No problems since.
If you use plastic, plan on replacing about every two years.

RE: Does slight damage to w/d bar render it unusable?

I would not worry about it one bit. Over the years mine has been ground down because of things like dips ect and they still work fine.
It's just a spring bar and thick at that. It's not rocket science. IMHO a few scrapes is not going to hurt it.
I agree
Me too.
But, how did it get disconnected????

RE: Need roof hole

Even if you get the antenna mounted on the roof, how are you going to aim it?
You said it is directional.

RE: Do they work on commission?

Several years ago, we were coming back from the gulf with another couple and they wanted to stop at the camping world north of San Antonio. My wife and I walked over and looked at some of the TT's they had. Another young salesman didn't think much of the full sized van we had and told us to come back when we had a proper TV. That van pulled TT's to Colorado, Florida and both coasts.

RE: Smoked The Converter

Also this guy should pay for the repair because he hooked you up to 240 volts and not 30 amp 120 volts.....:S
X2
He screwed up, he should pay.
Says right on the receptacle 30A/120 VAC. If he even used the right receptacle. :R

RE: Tire Balancing

Called back to the dealer and was told that no company making TT's balances the tires.
Of course, it would cost them an extra 20 bucks to balance them.
Now you know how cheeep your trailer is.

RE: FLAT TIRE!!!!!!

One of my camping buddies called the ERS and could have drank a drum of coffee waiting on them to arrive. He finally got fed up and changed it himself.
To answer the OP question I suggest practicing at home in the driveway with whatever jack you plan to use. Familarize yourself with the jack, where to place it, and removing the tire and putting on the spare.
Better to have experience and not make your first time ever on the side of the interstate.

The time to find out what works is at home in your driveway.

RE: Pack wheel bearing on fifth wheel

No, the yearly thing is just a CYA thing. The reality is they will go many times that long if they were done correctly in the first place. I went about 40K and when I did them they were still perfect and didn't need to be greased.
They're no different from the front wheel bearing on rear wheel drive cars and they go between brake jobs w/o greasing.
I would left each wheel and verify brake adjustment along with making sure there is no bearing noise or play.X2 good enough, unless you back yours in the water like a boat.
