RE: Life Member Status

2 questions
1 how much for membership?
2 How does one get off junk mail list?
Try this link for membership information
Good Sam Membership
Use contact link and ask to stop all ad mailings.
I use the member page. Works for me. The only ads I get is through email. I can opt out of that if I choose.

Life Member Status

First of all, it is GREAT to see the improvements being made with the GS Club and Camping World.
Thank you for the Free Shipping for Good Sam Members. The internet sales and free shipping perk for members makes recent items I have purchased outstanding values. I compared items I recently purchased with ebay, Amazon and Walmart. They did not compare.
I have made more purchases since April 30, 2012 from Camping World than I have in the past 6 years.
As a Charter Life Member, the main benefit of my Life Membership has been Highways Magazine. I have not used the GS camping discount in years.
For the First time, I feel like my Charter Life Membership is actually paying off with free shippping items. I have saved close to $100 in shipping costs being a GS Member. Again, thanks for the perk.
Suggestion #1 A nice touch to the Forum, would be to identify Charter Life Members I never cared about the silly halo dude, or the status. You are bringing some pride to belonging to GS.
For the first time, I am looking into GS Chapters, etc.
Mr. Lemonis, Stay the Course, It will be a challenge to bring a disbursed corporation such as GS into line with your management style, but it will pay dividends in success.
I just experienced excellent customer service responses by email after placing an order for an out of stock item.
Suggestion #2 Restructure the Camping World Website to reflect out of stock items, when customers place an order. Sometimes, due to travel we have a short window for having items shipped to our home. If an item is identified as out of stock when adding it to the cart it will save customers time and some aggravation; as well as saving Camping World Customer Service Staff time. I exchanged 3 emails with CS due to an out of stock item. By the way I received responses in a timely manner and it was obvious they read the emails, because they resolved the issue and I ordered a similar item today.
Wow, got long winded, again, thanks for your hard work, it has not gone unnoticed.
Although, I think it will be awhile before I have confidence in Camping World Service Facilities.
Keep up the good work and Godspeed.
John

RE: Repair Tear in Awning

This works very well and seems to be holding up Awning Repair Tape
Just picked up a roll at Walmart in the RV Section. Will see how it works next week on the slide awning.

I just don't buy cheap hoses and they last me for years with no taste
That's what my DW says about me, lasts for years but no taste.
But then, I remind her, that I married her.

Then again,

RE: Water Hose

We never drink H2o from the tank, coffee, tea, etc, all bottled water.
Cooking water from the tank.
If at home, I use the garden hose, because it reaches.
I never fill the tank from a potable water hose at a dump station.
36 years, RVn' never have had a water issue, or Montezuma's revenge.
I do use filters at the water input and at the kitchen faucet.
I would prefer reverse osmosis, but to me, it's not feasible in the MH.

RE: Thousand Trails Zone Pass - Final Research Done - Purchased

OpenRoads
isn't the current promotion you get 2 (yes 2) zones for the price of 1?
or is that promotion over? I got a few emails from them saying 2 zones for 1 price.
I say it is a good deal if used also. Our friend purchased a zone for $499 last year and they more than used it. they got there money and then some out of it so she was happy with it. They did not want to travel as far and we have a few nice TT cgs in the area in the mts they wanted to visit.
I didn't ask about the 2 for 1, and didn't see any ads for it.
I was only interested in the one zone, and the $100 discount was what I was interested in, at least for this next year.

RE: Thousand Trails Zone Pass - Final Research Done - Purchased

Great news for you! If the conditions fit your type of camping, I think it can be a heck of a good deal..
Maybe after a year or so of experience, why don't you post your findings....how many times were you denied space, etc...I wish there were some independent forum on that...my instinct tells me that if the park has many openings, they are quite happy to have the pre-paid members stay there....but, if they can charge a higher rate to the public, and still fill their park, I fear they will do that, and turn away the members.
Maybe I'm wrong.....if anyone has a member forum to point to, I would be intersted in that.........thanks.
Now that I have access to the Members website, here's what I'm finding out about the parks. They ID the Parks with HIGH use and the dates.
It's easy to make a reservation.
It looks like most if not all have an overflow area for dry camping if the park is full. i.e. a member shows up without a reservation, and the park is full, they find a place for them to park until a site is open.
We'll use it the first time in early June, I'll come back here and update our experience from time to time.
We've been RVn' since back in 76, as in 1976, not 1876. We once got a comp for a stay at a member park, it wasn't for us then.
This is our first member park experience. If it works out, we may broaden our horizons, if it doesn't, simply will not renew.
At this point, I think it will be a good value for us.

RE: Thousand Trails Zone Pass - Final Research Done - Purchased

We received a free TT membership from Lazydays nine years ago.
We used it quite a bit when we were full time.
We haven't used it yet this year, however, we got a TT member discount this past winter at an Encore Properties RV Park (parent company of TT). The discount was about twice our annual TT membership payment, so we came out ahead.
Also, there are different classes of membership. Some allow unlimited stays rather than the 14 day limit. You best bet is to buy one of those second hand. Once you are a regular member, they may offer to upgrade you to an unlimited stays membership - but it will cost you.
The Zone Pass will meet our needs for now. Parks are located where we want to be.
Thanks for the addional information.

RE: Thousand Trails Zone Pass - Final Research Done - Purchased

Here is my final conversation with Thousand Trails regarding the Zone Pass
LIVE CHAT
Please wait for a site operator to respond...
If you do not want to wait, please click here to leave us a message.
Operator Maggie has joined the chat.
Maggie1:12:23 PM
Hello, thanks for inquiring about the Zone Camping Pass! How can I assist you today?
John1:12:56 PM
Once you sign up online for a zone pass, how soon do you receive your card to use for camping?
Maggie1:13:31 PM
Have you signed up already?
John1:13:59 PM
Doing some research first
Maggie1:14:14 PM
It should take only 30 days however I can sign you up and you may use this immediately
John1:14:45 PM
Is there a Thousand Trails forum?
Maggie1:15:38 PM
There isn't you may look on our www.thousandtrails.com site however we do have a 30 day money back or 2 night stay whichever comes first for refunds
John1:16:34 PM
If it takes 30 days to get the documets, what is the effective start date on the zone pass?
Maggie1:17:01 PM
It only takes 30 days for your cards the docs you will have immediately at sign up
1:17:10 PM
You will have a member # as soon as we sign you up
1:17:34 PM
Today we are offering $100 off the Pass so its only $399!!
John1:18:24 PM
ok, one more question, or rather comment. I'm not too excited about the automatice renewal., and having to send a letter at least 30 days prior to renewal if I choose not to renew for any reason, health, etc.
Maggie1:20:36 PM
you can call in if you decide not to renew John we have many that do that, we are here to work with you
John1:21:12 PM
Oh, ok that makes me a little more comfortable, because what TT is offering is a good value.
1:21:38 PM
If we sign up today, all I have to pay is the $399 for the zone pass.
Maggie1:26:15 PM
That is correct...great deal!!
John1:27:06 PM
I agree, and thanks for your patience in answering my questions.
Maggie1:27:08 PM
John, we definately work with all of our RV'rs and know you will want to continue staying at our Parks , I would be happy to walk through this with you
1:28:31 PM
Patience is my middle name amongst having teens..lol
John1:28:55 PM
What's our next step to work with you?
Maggie1:29:29 PM
I would just need to speak with you to get the information and what Zone you would like and payment. 877-610-7623
John1:29:45 PM
Are you really Maggie?
Maggie1:30:01 PM
Yes
1:30:10 PM
Last time I checked I am real
John1:30:16 PM
I'll call and ask for Maggie
Maggie1:30:36 PM
That is my direct line John
The cost for the Southeast Zone was $399.
However, the Gubberment does collect taxes on the purchase. Overall, with the $100 discount and less taxes on the lower purchase price, it's over $110 savings. Instead of the Gas Card, deducted the $100, which I preferred.
I was going to by the Zone Pass anyway, after getting all my questions answered, along with the personal research. Helluva deal for me.
If used for only the 30 days free, it's about $13 a night. If I use it for 90 days it's about $6.43 a night.
For me considering the locations of the Parks, it's a good value and will probably get used more than the 90 days.
If you have questions, or interested, give Maggie a call. Low Key, NO pressure. A very pleasant purchasing experience.
The contract, rules, etc, can be read at the thousand trails Zone Pass website.

Looks like TT has sweetened the Deal.
They have added a $100 gas card if zone is purchased by 5-28. Yesterday it was a $75 gas card.

RE: Thousand Trails Zone Pass - Final Research Done - Purchased

I use them a lot here in Tx, Texoma 3 days, Tawakoni 3 days, Whitney 3 days. They may not always have a fhu site for you but they will always have a landing site for you. Thats all I need anyway. I bought the first zone pass they had and I have had no trouble, even to the extent that they called me the first year to see if I was going to renew or cancel.
Would I recommend it ? NO, but it works for me.
Ooppss gotta change names.
It seems like a good deal to me if used.
According to their current contract, it's automatic renewal unless a canellation letter is sent at least 30 days prior to renewal date.

Guess you have to do the math according to your own camping habits and number of camping days a year.

RE: Thousand Trails Zone Pass - Final Research Done - Purchased

I have wondered how many times members are denied admittance because the parks are full........the park may be either full, or a busy time of the year, in which the park operator may be able to sell full-price camping, instead of pre-paid member. Does that happen? Often??
If I understand correctly, you can only stay 14 days at a park, and then you need to be "out" of the TT system for 7 days before you can enter another TT campground for another 14 day stay......is that right?
Reading the contract, if you stay at a park more than 4 days, it's 7 days before you can go to the next park.
However, if you stay at a park 4 days or less, you can immediately go to another park in the zone.
Also, in reading about some parks, they have an overflow area for parking. TT also has a guide on which parks are heavy use parks during certain time frames.

I Read their contract.
They require automatic renewal from year to year unless they receive a letter 30 days prior to the renewal.
Has anyone had an issue with cancelling before the renewal date?
Does anyone have a concern about the automatice renewal requirement?
The other issues seem to be similar to most, in that they can make changes, increase fees based on insurance costs, etc.
Just curious if anyone has has read the contracts/requirements and have any concerns.
Looks like a good value, if used.......

Thanks for the info. However, you would be helping a LOT more people if you posted that same information on RVparkreviews.com. A lot of people, myself included, read the reviews on every campground we plan on visiting before we go there.
