RE: New TV, need input

Always remember that any the hitch ratings for WDH are with the equlizer bars. without bars the hitch ratings drop to 50% to 60% of the avertized rating. I have a Class 3 on my Nisson FWD is rated for 3000 lbs pull and 300 lbs tung weight without bars.

RE: Suburban 6.0 vs. 7.4 vs. 8.1L??

I have a K-2500 Silverado Crew Cab with a 6.0 Auto trans with a 3.73 rear. on the road at 60 MPH it gets 17 MPG towing a 23' 1985 Yellowstone that weights in at 5700 LBS It gets 13.5 at 60 MPH. And I live in WV that is the state with a few hills. Engine is rated at 300 HP and 350 pounds of torque. It does a good job . But truck is rated to pul a 9300 LB trailer. Would rather have over kill than be killing the truck I like my truck better than that. Rig is posted at bottom of post.

RE: Truck / Trailer wiring issues

I don't ever wire the ground to frame run a #10 white wire to the ground post on battery will save you a whole lot of trouble now and later. Have seen many lose ground due to rust on bumper and bumper bolts.

RE: Buying a TT with space for an Onan genset possible?

I don't know about the Onan but my Kohler 4KW came In a 24"X24"X38" all steel box. with fiberglass linning. the door has a 150sq inch opening for fresh air. the factory call for 100 sq inch that would make it louder.

RE: Onan or Generac gensets

I don't care what GEN SET you get but make sure it is a 4 pole "1800 RPM" unit they are a whole lot easer to quiten down than a 2 pole one "3600 RPM". You have to watch the Genarac ones most of them are 3600 Rpm. I have an older Kohler unit that I got from a rotted down Winabago Motorhome. I have a 4500 electric start and about $100 in it. traded the 4500 for it and cost me about $100 to fix and get runing. I will use on farm as the druggies keep cuting down my electric line to campsite 400' of service drop.

RE: Generator Question (I am a newbie)

You might look around and try to find a junked Motor home. I traded for a 4CM21 Kohler 4 KW Unit out of a 76 Winabago. Someone had let rot down. Was hard to even look at it. Traded a 4.5 Contractor grade Electric start for it even. Had $100 in the 4.5 unit. Have another $120 in it and it runs fine am trying to figure out wheather to mount on back bumper or just put in back of TV.

RE: Generator not getting gas?? Onan Emerald Plus 4000

I have a Kolher 4 KW Gas unit and it does have a Fuel shut-off Soleniod. It was bad when I got it, I just by-passed it and it ran. Would not recomend running unit without it other than just to see if it will work.

Kohler 4 KW for dry camping.

I traded a 4.5 KW Electric start contractor grade GEN for a 4 KW Kohler 4CM21 out of a Winabago Motorhome that someone had let rot down. Made me sick just to look at it. even the floor & walls were rotted. I have it runing after replacing Head Gasket, Reparing striped Spark Plug hole, Rewiring Control Panel, reparing Exaust. & by-passing Fuel shut-off Solnoid. Would like some ideas on how to mount on a 85 Yellowstone. for dry camping. Rear bumper or back of TV. This thing must weight at least 250 LBS. http://thumb1.webshots.net/t/82/482/6/49/20/2072649200052404901UxUQDO_th.jpg

RE: Generator Install

A 4000 watt is 33.3 amps if that will help.

RE: Onan 5500 and 2 AC's

No it won't run two A/C units. It takes a 7 KW unit to do that. All MH it have seen with two A/C units have had a 7 KW unit. Sounds like Didn't size the Power unit right.
