RE: Goodyear Tires AGAIN Gone Bad

Joelc, I was meticulous about checking my tires because of the stories I had heard about them and kept them at 110# and I pull my rig at 60mph. No I don't have an external monitor. I checked them with a tire gage and a heat gun.

RE: Goodyear Tires AGAIN Gone Bad

The first two G614's that out on me were two years old. The second set was 5years old. The first set had about 10000 miles and the second set had about 12000 miles. As far as the G114's I have also heard a lot of good about them but I have also heard two definite cases on another forum and that is enough for me to avoid them.

RE: Goodyear Tires AGAIN Gone Bad

Just put on the 17.5 wheels and Mich XTA J rated tires. I have had 4 tread releases with the G614's and of corse the damage to the coach. Last time it cost $8000 to fix the damage. I am still waiting for the estimate to come from the dealer to turn things into GoodYear. They were good about covering everythig last time and I am sure they will this time. But I have had enough with GoodYears. And I have heard of the G114's doing the same thing as the G614's.

RE: will our truck pull our 5th wheel?

I have a 05 Mobile Suite. I had a350 srw to start with and after getting my system wieghed and checked out the limits on the truck I found that I was riding on the edge of the capabilities of the rear tires for weight. I went up to a dual rear wheel. The 250 is basically the same truck as the 350 exept for the suspention. Like some have said, they do more with less think about what happens if there is an accident and they decide you were overloaded on your truck. You now have no insurance and everything will be your fault no matter what happened. Is it worth it? Just food for thought.

RE: When the Fifth Wheel Falls in the bed of the Truck

I high hitched on my first trip with mine. $3000 in damage to the truck. I now have my hitch jaws painted white and have a bed saver. Cheapest insurance you can buy.

RE: How much wind is too much?

Wind direction makes a difference also. Any high side winds makes you think about the cost if you blow over or get hit by someone else blowing over. If it's a head wind it can double your fuel bill but if it is a tail wind???
