RE: Rv Park Websites - Rates

These are the actual websites for the parks. They show amenities, activities, etc. but no rates.
Are you sure you're navigating their webpages correctly? I've only come across only a few that don't post their rates online.
Of those that don't publish rates, I simply look for some other RV park.

RE: Shake down run in "new to us" Class A, St Louis area

Thanks for everyone's input. I think we've decided to try Babler State Park. It will be close enough that if we forget something major we're not too far from home, and it looks like a great little area. I'll let you know how it goes. Wish us luck. LOL
Personally, I would have gone somewhere with full hookups to give everything a good trial and test, especially since you are buying a used unit.

RE: 50 amp 90 degree plug

I would wait until you get the Silverback before spending money on something you may or may not need. The 2012 Silverback RL (rear lounge) had the plug in the rear too, but when my 2013 Silverback RL came from the factory the plug was moved to the side of the fifth wheel.
The first photo is a 2012 29RL and you can see the power connection in the lower left side. The second photo is of my 2013 29RL and you can see the power cord plugged into the trailer near the water heater.

I completely agree with klm on Yellowstone and the Tetons. I haven't been to Glacier so I can't comment on that area.

RE: 38+ foot 5th wheel in state parks?

With the fifth wheel hitched up into the bed of the truck, the 39 foot Silverback won’t feel much different in length than your 36 foot trailer when towing it.
Since you are already familiar with Texas state parks, you would be a better judge of how well the slide outs will fit on a campsite.
The real difference will be with the added height of the Silverback fifth wheel versus the travel trailer. How well do the Texas state parks keep the overhead branches of the trees trimmed along the roads within the park on the way to the campground? Here in Missouri the tree branches usually aren’t an issue…USUALLY. One exception is Meramec State Park where a large tree branch on a 300 year old Burr tree hangs out over the campground at a height of 12 feet 5 inches. If I don’t drive on the other side of the road when going by this tree, the A/C on top of my Silverback will be damaged. Just be aware of the added height.

RE: annoying

Once the landing gear is down and wheels chocked, if needed I put truck in reverse and back truck a tiny bit to release tension on hitch jaws. Also I make sure there is visible separation of the plate and kingpin plate

RE: 2013 Silverback 29RL

Congratz on your new Creeker. We have a 36CKTS CC Touring Edition and love it!
I guess it's only right, this old creaker is now a creeker. :)

RE: OK, I'm Stumped

Our 5w has the same range vent. Just pull out on the bottom other each of the two tabs. They'll eventually pop loose. The tabs will snap back into "locked" position when pushed in.
Happy RVing!
Holy cow, was that ever hard to get open. Once I got the vent open I could only get one of tabs to snap back into place. Give me the little rotating tabs anyday.

RE: OK, I'm Stumped

LOL. Thank you for this thread. You've opened a somewhat seasoned guy's eyes. We've been using the vent closed all this time! Now, I know it can open with turning-tabs. Good luck with your pull tabs.
That's what is so great about these forums, just when you think you have all the answers something new comes up and you gather more knowledge.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that but the resistance was such that I was afraid I was going to snap something off. I'll try that again with a bit more confidence.

OK, I'm Stumped

We have a new 2013 Silverback fifth wheel and the outside stove vent has me completely stumped. Our previous trailers had little tabs that turned to release the vent flap. This one is new to me and I’ve push and pulled on these tabs to no avail. Surely someone out there has the same type of outside stove vent and can tell me how they work. I don’t want to break anything on a trailer this new. How do the darn things work?
Here's a pic of the vent.

RE: 2013 Silverback 29RL

How do you feel about not having a window in the door, does it make any difference to you?
That was on our check off list.
The lack of a window in the door is certainly a different look, but it's not an issue for us. Most of the windows that are in RV entry doors are opaque and can't be seen through anyway. BTW, there is a peep hole installed in the entry door that give a good view of what's outside. I really like the fact that the screen door has a clear, removable covering over the screens so that the main door can be left open even in chilly weather.

We were too tired to give the bedroom a “real” test during the weekend so that’s next.

RE: 2013 Silverback 29RL

Congrats on your new Silverback. Love those cathedral ceilings in the Silverback slides.
Yes, Along with the open floor plan of the 29RL, those cathedral ceilings on the opposing slideouts really give the living area a more spacious look and feel.

RE: 2013 Silverback 29RL

We have a 2011 Silverback 29RL and we love it. The only real issue we have had is a squeak in the floor as you enter the bedroom. The dealer has worked on it and the factory has tried to fix it twice with no luck. Very minor problem and we have learned to ignore it. Good luck with your new creaker.
Holy Cow! We have that exact same squeak.

2013 Silverback 29RL

We traded in our 2008 Wildcat 28RKBS on a 2013 Silverback 29RL this past Friday. The worst part was transferring all of our stuff to the new fifth wheel and then putting all of it away. It took us the better part of two days to get everything stored in the new Silverback. I LOVE the wider width entry door on the Silverback, I didn’t bump my arms or elbows once going in and out of the trailer.
There were no issues found during our PDI nor did we find any issues those first two nights we spent at an RV park near the dealership. I’m really impressed with the fit and finish of our new fifth wheel. The living space provided by the opposing slideouts is wonderful.
Towing the Silverback the 100 miles back to our house today was easy and our three-quarter ton truck handled the extra weight without a problem. I really couldn’t tell any difference in towing from our old shorter and lighter Wildcat.
Monday we are going to Carlyle Lake in Illinois for three nights for one more test. We were too tired to give the bedroom a “real” test during the weekend so that’s next. :W

RE: Max truck gvwr

Why don't you just hitch up the fifth wheel and take it someplace then decide for yourself whether on not the combination works well together.

RE: info about an rv "park" in St Louis mo

St. Louis RV park really is a parking lot, but it is fine for an overnight stay. As with any large city you need to be aware of what's going on around you if you go out for a walk at night.
