RE: Full time 5th wheel...extra car?

We started out with two motorcycles. Now have a car. Way cheaper then two motorcycles. The wife leads and tells me where we are going. Even if we had a pickup truck over the HDT, I'd still keep the car. Way more fun on curvy roads.:B

RE: what about those people who stop fulltiming?

Have run across two people unhappy with full-time RVing.
1. The husband wanted to continue but the wife didn't like living in a little tin can. She wanted a house.
2. The guy said full-time RVing had become to expenisive. Fuel, campgrounds, maintenance, insurance. Sold the RV and went back to a house.
otherwise it's people who have quit just wanted a bigger place and a lot of them say they miss the lifestyle.

RE: If you just need a few extra $$$

Restring day night shades. This last winter I worked in an office at a winter RV resort. A mobile tech came in and asked if I knew anyone who restrung blinds. He didn't want to do them, but would get 2 or more calls per week of people who wanted them done. This was near Casa Grande, AZ.

Colorado. Hwy 141 or/and 145

Okay wondering about a couple of other roads. Colorado 141 between Dove Creek and CO 145. And Colorado 145 between Naturita and Placerville. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Max. Plus check the pressure and the tires themselves every morning we are moving on to a different location.

RE: Snowbird migration about over

We had 38 sites open up in two days, 3/31 and 4/1 of snowbirders heading home in the park we workamp at. More each day. A few travelers on PA coming through otherwise pretty quiet.

Good story, thanks for sharing. I did like one comment below the story. "Why should she stop driving? I meet a lot of blind drivers every day" So true. :p

RE: How hard to sell?

We used GL to sell our motorcycles. Just use a free email service and make up a new email address. Use to to sell your trailer or whatever else you want to sell. Once done quit going to that email address.

RE: Load range G Goodyear

The Goodyear G rated tires have always wore more on the outside then the inside. I agree that it's a good idea to change out the Goodyear G rated tires at no older then 4 years, no matter how many or less of miles. I changed out four this spring. The spare now is only 3 years old. The tire before it was changed out due to a nail in the sidewall and was told it couldn't be patched. I should have got a second opinion. Be sure you check the built date on them since I had the place I went to tried to get past a year old tire. Built date is after the DOT numbers. They are 4 numbers. The first two is the week they have been built. The last two numbers is the year. So 4111 is the tire was built on the 41st week of 2011. We had our trailer weighed in 2007 by weightit. Our trailer weighed 15,015 pounds. Was told to run the tires at 110 psi.

RE: Screenhouses

Best thing to do is add it to your question list when job searching. Each campground will be different.

RE: Am I the only one?

I doubt your alone. Myself it's not everyday. I try to get on here once a day, but when traveling or have some other thing going on I can miss being on here up to several days.

RE: Pets

Yeah, that's an Akita, there is a fantastic movie "A Dog Named Hachi," he used to go to the RR station with him. He was so dedicated to his owner, he left home and lived at the RR station, the last place he saw him and stayed there. If you daughter has not seen it, you could buy the DVD and give it to them... One of the best movies we have seen.
It is an awesome movie. Be sure to give your daughter a box of Kleenex with the movie.
It is based on a true story.
Clicky.

RE: Keepin' It Clean!

As a workamper we have it in the written agreement that we can wash our truck, trailer and car. When traveling I do clean the bugs off the windshield and the front of the car and truck in the evening and no one has said a thing to me. As for cleaning the whole vehicle I go an ask at the front desk. If they charge, everything stays dirty. But most campgrounds it doesn't cost a thing and they don't mind.

RE: What is your MPG?

Averaging around 8.5 to 9.1 and since the truck doesn't have a lie-o-meter, the mpg is with and without the trailer. Last time the trailer was weighed (2007) it was 15,015 pounds.
The car averages 35 mpg.

RE: Hitchhiker question

Old Biscuit says it all. The only thing I'd add to the list is grease the shackles. Maybe ask if you can take it to a campground hook it up and check everything.
We sure love our HH.
