RE: Private Membership RV Clubs

Whatever you do, do NOT do business with Ocean Canyon properties. I suggest you read the ongoing thread on IRV2 discussion regarding the nightmare in trying to get out from a contract with them...even when we never signed a contract with them. Even after 3 years and with 3 letters from them stating they have cancelled my contract and removed me from their membership list I just now received another bill for annual dues. :R We received bills, threatening phone calls to pay our bill and hours on the phone and emails EVEN after I was told the contract was cancelled. Ocean Canyon Properties nightmare LONG story but I keep getting private messages from people who have signed contracts with them who couldn't get out of them either. This is definitely a company to stay away from. :M You'd think by now they would get their act together but obviously they haven't.

RE: My Unreliable Tiffin

Bob, where are you getting the work done in Mesa? We are heading there next week and will be there for a month. We just bought our coach but it's a 2011 model and I'm not sure if there is any issue with the wet bay floor or roof radius and frankly don't know what to look for. Nedra Nedra, the work will be done at La Mesa RV in Mesa with a Tiffin rep present as an instructor. Here is a link to some pics showing the type of cracks I have on my radius rails Roof radius cracks I do not have a wet bay problem. Doesn't mean it won't happen at some point, but so far so good. Even with a 2011 model there is a possibility of either one of these problems developing, but might not show much if any indication at this point. I would suggest calling Phillip Hollingsworth and discussing your concerns with him. Thanks so much. I've talked with Tiffin service, Phillip and La Mesa. It looks like the wet bay problem is more with diesel pushers and it appears that our bays are either fiber glass or plastic. We are going to check (when the snow melts or we get to Mesa) and will also be talking to the Tiffin rep in Mesa when we get there. As for the roof they said it's possible we could have problems down the road but they said it might not be worth doing it now if there is no evidence of a problem. If there isn't (and we did have someone check the roof (they might not have looked very close to the rails) a problem now and we keep a close eye on it they will take care of the problem at that time. It would be easier for us to drive to Mesa in the spring than to drive to Red Bay as it's a lot closer for us. We will be there for 3 months but I'm not really keen on spending a week in a motel while we are there to get the work done. I use the coach for business and really need to be able to process orders each day but I will be talking to La Mesa to see if we can hook up while there during the evening so I can work.

RE: My Unreliable Tiffin

This post is directed at those Tiffin owners that live on the west coast, and are looking for a possible alternative to making the trip to Red Bay. Tiffin has already trained and authorized some west locations to repair a couple of the common problems that I'm aware of, and are in the process of training additional locations. The rotting wet bay floor is one repairs being done. I know for sure that Coach Masters in Bend, OR, is authorized as I was there when they were performing the repairs to a 2007 Tiffin coach. The service mgr told me it was 100% covered by Tiffin. I am personally in Mesa, AZ, having the roof radius rails replaced at no charge to me, other than motel charges, but that's still better than a trip to Red Bay. I don't know how many locations have been setup, but I believe Mike Thompson RV in Colton, CA, is another one. If you're on the west coast and are interested in finding out more information, I would suggest calling Tiffin's west coast rep, Phillip Hollingsworth (951) 906-7080 for details. RE: My Unreliable Tiffin

We recently bought our second Tiffin (1st one was a 2002 Allegro Bay) and this one was a slightly used one (only 3600 miles on it) and so far so good. I figured that the people had it for a year and got most of the bugs worked out. I'm praying anyway. We have owned several brands of motorhomes and each and every one has had problems. I have also talked to owners of million dollar coaches who say they all have problems too but they have to go to the manufacturer for repairs like it or not. Problems with coaches are not exclusive to any particular manufacturer. Any manufacturer can produce a coach that is less than perfect but overall I do think the customer service that Tiffin offers exceeds any other manufacturer. We live in a 55+ plus community and probably half of them are RVer's. Everyone goes out on a trip and comes back with a list of things that need to be fixed. It doesn't seem to matter what brand or how old it is. While I would absolutely love to have one that never breaks down I have yet to find one but I definately have to say that Tiffin goes beyond what any other manufacturer does for their customers. See if you get free service after warranty from Monaco, Fleetwood, Newmar, etc. We haven't had our coach long enough to know if there are any serious issues but we did have our service center (they do not sell coaches) owner look over the coach before we bought it. He got on the roof and checked front to back, including testing out all the slides, etc and said it was a good coach. La Mesa (where we bought it) also checked everything and we did too. Everything worked fine until we were ready to take it home and the galley slide started making a noise. They went in and discovered the motor was not installed properly and came loose so they fixed it and it's working fine. We took a shake down cruise and found a couple of little things that they fixed. Next week we leave for AZ and will be there for 3 months. I pray we have no issues. What concerns me is the discussion about the wet bay floor and roof radius issues. Is this across the board in all Tiffin's. What years are they showing up? What should I be looking for? What is the cause of the wet bay floor problem? Our coach was manufactured in August, 2010 and the owners had it for a year before they sold it to La Mesa outright. Typically that means perhaps financial issues, divorce or death but we don't know for sure. I would really like to know what to look for regarding the wet bay floor issue and the roof radius issues. Thanks, Nedra
