RE: Fishing on Vancouver Island I? If Seals Leave Any.- Photo

Years ago, a resident of the Sunshine Coast BC, told me that all one needed to catch salmon was a rod, reel and a rifle. The rifle is for the seals, so you can get what you catch into the boat.

RE: Need RV Service Las Vegas, Nevada

If you have a Chevrolet chassis, Fairway Chevrolet would be my choice in the LV area. For other issues, Discount RV Repair, (702)565-3831, is a mobile repair service that will come to your location, and does excellent work for a reasonable price. I have used both when in the LV area.

RE: Can't move shift lever out of park.

This sounds like an issue with the Brake-Transmission-Shift-Interlock (BTSI) system. there is a solenoid on the lower part of the steering column that controls this system. This system prevents the shifting out of park without the brake being applied. There will be two wires connecting to this solenoid. Try disconnecting these wires, to see if it releases the shift arm. Possibly that solenoid needs to be replaced. It is possible to operate the rig with this system deactivated, if necessary. Many of us older folks remember rigs before this system was invented. There should be more specific info available online. Good luck.

RE: I15 Canada to California in January?

I-15 ends in San Diego, after going through Las Vegas and Salt Lake City.

RE: I15 Canada to California in January?

Diesel is very easy to get all along I5... Jan. you risk snow at the passes and even road closures - Grants Pass and through the Siskisyous in S. Oregon and into N. Calif....You can even has some ice and snow through the low lands at times. Oregon requires that you carry chains at all times. the OP is writting about I-15, not I-5.

RE: Best route from Vancouver BC to Arizona

Our starting point is Wenatchee, WA. We take US97 south to Weed, CA. Then I-5 to Lost Hills, SR46 to US99, to SR58 and connect with either I-15 or I-40 at Barstow, CA, depending on where we are heading. From Needles, CA, 95 on the AZ side of the river is the preferred rout south to I-10. Depending on the weather, we sometimes take I-82, I-84 to Twin Falls, ID, US93, SR318 to Las Vegas. US93 from Las Vegas to Phoenix. The DOTs of WA, OR, CA, ID, NV all operate very good web-sites, providing real time weather information. In 15 years, traveling these routes in December and April, we have never found it necessary to go all the way to the Oregon coast (101). The OR and CA DOTs do an excellent job of keeping I-5 open over the Siskiyous. If the weather is really awful east of the Cascades, we take I-5 All the way from Portland south. Stay safe and enjoy the trips.

RE: Destinations for Short Trips Out of Seattle Area?

Just north of Wenatchee, about 7 miles, Lincoln Rock SP is a reservation park. Very nice park with a lot of camp sites. Daroga, which is farther north is a "first-come, first-serve" park and is very hard to get into during the busy season and on week-ends. There is also an nice, small Chelan County park at Monitor, just west of Wenatchee.

RE: Cost of installing tow bar and brakes

I would think you should be able to find a local shop that can set you up for much less than what Camping World quoted you. Shop around. In some areas, welding shops do that sort of installations. If you decide which brand of tow bar you want to use, you may find an installer in your area on the tow bar website.

RE: Best Place to Purchase Automotive Wiring?

Maybe the same place you are getting the lights. Marine supply houses usually sell wire. Home Depot would be cheaper, however.

RE: WA state needs money more than tourists????

I have never had to pay for a state tourist guide before to any state that I requested one from. I do not intend to buy one from Washington. I will just cross it off my list. That is probably a wise decision. It's a really long haul from Florida to Washington anyway. Stay safe.

RE: When to cross from Redding, Ca to Roseburg, Or on I-5

The best site is Oregon DOT site. www.tripcheck.com Real time reports and cameras.

In addition to Hi Desert, there appear to be two other CGs that might be OK for an overnight. check out at: www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/Nevada/Winnemucca.html

RE: Hwy 2 through Washington in June?

An additional suggestion for a spot to stay. Just north of Wenatchee, along the Columbia River, Lincoln Rock State Park is one of our favorite camping spots in the state. If you wanted to be closer to town, Confluence State Park is almost in side the city limits of Wenatchee. Incidentally, the long pull east of Orando is in Douglas County and the town on the eastern end is Waterville, not Douglas. US2 east of Stevens Pass is mostly two lanes. It is used by big rigs, buses, and RVs all the time. Tumwater Canyon, west of Leavenworth, is one of the most scenic stretches of highway in Washington. Either US2, or SR20 are far more interesting drives than I-90. Stay safe and enjoy.

RE: Kwikee Step Refuses to operate

The older magnetic switches tend to stick. I have been successful just tapping on the magnetic door switch with a screw driver handle. Just another area to consider. Good luck!

RE: When did you know?

We cruised the waters of Puget Sound and British Columbia for forty years. Spent up to six weeks at a time aboard power boats from 23 to 40 feet. When that activity got to be too much work and too expensive, we sold the boat and a year later started "land cruising". Similar activity, just a different environment.
