RE: How does high temps damage transmissions?

The ATF oil also is used as a medium for the operation of the "torque converter", which basically serves the purpose of a clutch. It needs a special oil that allows a certain amount of friction for proper operation of this drive system. If you were to put something like "Slick 50" in the transmission, you would probably have problems...it would be too slippery, for the torque converter to work properly....like a clutch that is lubricated...slipping
Actually, besides the converter clutch that only comes on at cruise speed, there is nothing in the converter that would burn up if you had more slipery oil. A torque converter is a type of fluid coupling. It works on centrifugal force. In principle, the converter could actually function using water as a torque transfer agent...or even 100% slick 50.
Although Slick 50 does make transmission additives and fluid also.

RE: big mistake

Can you say,"Drill stop?" Next time use either a drill stop or a piece of tape folded over the bit to mark the stop point.
Do-do do occur....
Karl
Wow...i'm sure that comment helped the OP.:R

RE: How do you start a camp fire?

Acetone - instant fire!
That may work OK with dry wood, or might not work so well in a downpour, but a road flare is sure to get any wet or green firewood started pretty fast! Downpour or not.
Fred.
Do you have any idea of the toxic fumes a road flare gives off? I guess not if you are using them for a fire starter.
Meh...gotta use up the expired ones anyway. Shooting boat flares (arial) works good too.

RE: Dropping Camper on Site

I just don't get how the X's can accommodate for an unlevel site. Seems they can only be used if the site is perfectly level. Adding shims to them defeats the purpose of adding even support.

First Point!

Playing with the boy and then she turned around and did this. Robin under the yard swing. Honestly I think she smelled it before she saw it. Had her nose in the air for a few seconds like she smelled something but didn't know what, then she saw it.
Sight point or not, darn cute at 9 weeks.

RE: The Lemon Law works

Wow. I worked as a warranty administrator for a automaker and I am surprised that they bought it back without lawyers getting involved. No matter if the car had issues or not. It's just how it usually is done.
Good for you.

RE: Red interior bulbs

Advance Auto, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, Murray's etc also carry them. Usually red and blue bulbs are available. I have even seen them at Wal-Mart. Usually they were not with the regular bulbs, they were with the LED strip lights and accent lights and other aftermarket stuff..
