RE: Increasing mileage when towing

You can apply any number of mods in order to gain a mile or two per gallon. Of course your ROI will be a big negative, of course. So what is the point? The obvious stuff should be maintained; air pressures, tune up and your road speeds.

RE: bumper hitch for 23ss roo

Hitman, it looks from your profile pic that your towing with an suv.
I picked up a Saris Bones bike rack for the rear of our Tahoe.
It is a little tight, but I can safely haul three bikes back there at any time. There is no way I would put our expensive bikes on that 150 lb rated single wall tubed bumper, reinforced or not.

RE: Another Fort Wilderness Question?

Stayed in the 300 Loop last October. Short walk to the boats and the General Store and the laundry. Bike ride away from the swimming pool and the outdoor movies.

RE: Hybrid Towing SUV's.?

Never had an issue with our Tahoe in power or stability.
Third row seating has allowed space for cranky and tired kids numerous times. Can be difficult however when you need rooom for bikes and firewood.

RE: Outside Grill

If folks are having issues with grease spatter and smoke from the sidekick, they might want to turn the gas down a bit or let someone else do the cooking. I prefer charcoal or campfire cooking but have never had any problems with our sidekick.

RE: Do you OPEN carry while camping with others?

No problem with open carry here. Haven't heard of any recent stories of someone legally licensed for open carry going nuts and shooting everyone. I have seen law enforcement officers with attitudes that concerned me much more.

RE: What do you like the most about your Hybrid?

I don't know that people watcher would be how I would like to be described, (nosey my wife says) but that is something I do enjoy and never thought much about when I'm not camping. Sitting outside at night listening to your neighbors enjoy company, relatives they may not have seen for awhile, grandkids, or just good old fellowship. And laughter. It is nice and relaxing and helps make the world seem like a better place.

RE: THINKING OF BUYING HYBRID

I've seen folks their 20s in huge Motorhomes who parked in a site all weekend and never came outside. Didn't understand it but wasn't supposed to. Do your homework and then you do what suits you. Happy Camping.

Pull our Rockwood which is 5k before throwing in all the extras. Rides fines, pulls fines, does the job fine.

RE: Any disappointments??

No regrets. No suprises. We knew what we were getting when we bought it. We're on our 2nd one. When the last of the kids are out of the house we may go to something else, but it won't be a move up, just a move on.

RE: Extended Warranty NEED ADVICE ASAP

Transportation is a big factor in west coast pricing. You'll notice most manufacturers are based out of the midwest, ie Indiana. Travel here to pick up a unit new, and you may save more than you would buying used in California.

RE: Tahoe towing Roo 233S

Really don't notice your Roo 23SS back there? Really? That big marshmallow in the rear view mirror isn't a clue? Engine running 3000 RPM plus?
Just curious what RPM the engine is running at 60 mph up the Sierras. I'd really notice if my Expedition bogged down to 60 on any of the hills over here.
-- Chuck
No, I don't notice it. Really. My WD is set up properly, my drive train is more than plenty to handle the Roo. If my tach hits 3K, it is leaving a stoplight. I'm nowhere near that at road speed in tow/haul mode.

If you have a brake controller installed, and your WD set up properly, you may forget that it is behind you.

RE: Oxygenics shower head

Buy it. You won't get a shower in your rv any closer to one at home using any other shower head.
