RE: No more guessing how much water I put in

I can't believe anyone in their right mind would travel around with a full tank of water when 15 gallons is more than ample for a trip to the next campground.
I have a water meter similar, but has a hand and dial like a clock. Mine is fairly accurate on a high flow rate. Jack

RE: Cracked shower base

You didn't say how long the crack was, but most hardware stores sell a product like non-slip tape or sometimes in the shape of a flower that is made to be applied to a shower floor to prevent a person from slipping. I believe that would stop a leak, prevent a nasty fall, and look good all at the same time. Jack

RE: Water pressure regulator????

WYE (in case I want to connect green hose too).
Watts Regulator
White Hose
Filter (in-line)
90 Elbow
Note: Before I started using a pressure regulator, the pressure was so high at a Texas State Park it ruptured the in-line Wal*Mart filter. Jack

RE: Suggestion: Balance your tires

I put my money on a tire out of balance, and a trailer without shocks. A bad combination often ignored or thought not necessary by many. :E

RE: How much grease is needed for bearings.

Bearing Buddies do not let grease out, so if you really DO have Bearing Buddies you have now blown the seals.
If you have EZ-Lube, which are TOTALLY different, you're likely fine.

RE: Can I parallel two 6volt with one 12 volt?

An option that no one has mentioned is installing a selector switch. Most have three selections; Bank A, Bank B or Off. With this you could use the two 6 volt batteries or manually switch to the existing 12 volt. You would also have to remember to switch while charging.
Battery experts do not recommend mixing different type batteries. However, the selector switch method as suggested above by Curt would work well with the batteries you have. Jack

RE: leveling with 1" X 8" boards

I'm thinking 3/4 inch (or thicker) ply-wood may provide better support without cracking than a 1 inch pine board.

RE: 65 MPH, awning deployed like a parachute!!!

I said that early in this thread! Without a roller lock, the little pawl is all that keeps it from unrolling. If the awning starts unrolling this strap would be ripped right off the trailer at highway speed. Chris

RE: 65 MPH, awning deployed like a parachute!!!

I would not even consider putting a 16 foot long awning on my RV's thin rubber roof, not only might it damage the roof, but if it came undone, it could kill someone.
I believe awning deployments are sometime caused by the locking pawl being accidently pulled down into the unlock position when using a long handled brush washing around the awning end.
I also believe the awning roller may not be in the exact same position when fully rolled-up due to temperature differences in the awning fabric.
I believe the below pictured awning device sold by Camping World works well in preventing uncommanded deployments of the awning. Jack

RE: How cold should AC be?

If my memory serves me right, I believe the outlet temperature should be approximately 20 degrees cooler than the inlet temperature. I believe that is the general standard for home and auto air conditioners.. Jack

RE: Contrary to popular belief

WE winter in Mesa AZ. If we were watching the same accident that closed I 10 in/near Phoenix yesterday - that was a semi trailer, NOT a travel trailer!
I believe there were several wrecks that day, my post was about the accident described below. Jack
Had traffic backed up ten miles.

Contrary to popular belief

As shown several times on television news today a Travel Trailer flipped over and was lying on its side in the middle of I-10 near Phoenix.
Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't a pile of kindling, but looked to me like it could be set back on its wheels and continue on home. Jack

Do you think this modification may be causing a positive pressure in the crankcase :@

RE: Engine failure!

Blarg. The engine is out...and appears to have six bent valves. :( Rebuild time.
Wounder why it bent the valves in a non-interference engine? The 460 from that era is a non-interference engine is it not? At 4500 RPM you wouldn't think it would float the valves.
The valves are reset into the heads on that engine correct? if so they can not be struck by the piston without also damaging the piston or at the very least marking it.

Well, my uncle just called. The timing chain didn't jump...it BROKE, stripping half the cam gear in the process.
Some valves are probably in the wrong place at the wrong time and struck by the piston when it reached TDC. Jack

RE: Camping World NEVER again (denver)

Once again, I'm at odds with the remarks made by the majority of you. The thing is, if the original estimate was for four hours, and the OP was billed and paid for four hours, then the way I see it, the OP got to sit around for six more hours while Camping World provided him with six hours of free labor, worth at least $600.
This was all due to an unforeseen problem with the electrical system, on occasion, it happens in the maintenance and repair RV business, even to the very best and brightest technician.
So the OP suffered some inconvenience waiting around, that's life, he needs to move-on. CW made him whole when they stayed and completed the job on their dime. Jack
IMO :)

RE: need help on a Wildness Advantage 5th wheel

The wiring for the lights move when the slides are moved in & out, often causing the wire insulation to rub on a sharp metal edge until it shorts out the 12 Volt wire and blows a 12 volt fuse.
Verify that all your 12 volt fuses are good. Mine are located in the electrical box in the bathroom. If you find a blown fuse, the next step is to check the wiring under the slides. Jack
