RE: Brilliant RVer invents a totally leak proof RV roof system!

Lesson learned...Always patent my idea before the big boy comes and steals my well thought out design. Dang!

RE: What is the Deal

If I am taking up a salesman time I feel like the least I can do in return is give him my name and number. I have nothing to hide. If he calls a simple no thanks will typically suffice. No reason to be rude and treat the salesman as the enemy.
Best comment in this thread.
Not sure what people are afraid of...it's only common courtesy as long as the sales person does it right.
'Hi welcome to ....RV. My name is....and you are? How can we help you today?'
Is that so bad? Get a grip people!!!
X3... I believe it is extremely rude of you to use a salesperson's time, time that could have a direct result on their ability to make a sale to another customer, and not provide an honest name when requested.
Seems to me a smile, handshake, and my name is ... would be the best way to receive the salesperson's best assistance in selecting an RV.

RE: Awning saver (clamp)

I don't know this as a fact, but I believe many times the awning unfurling is in part caused by the lock lever being accidently pulled down in the unlock position when washing the RV with a long handled brush. I have done that very thing, and if left unnoticed it could very well cause a problem somewhere down the road on a windy day.
I installed the awning clamp the OP is considering. I believe it will do the job it was designed for, plus give added support to awning.
My install didn't require screwing a bracket into the roof like another poster wrote, if that were the case I wouldn't have installed mine.

RE: Holding tank sensors

Horst probes have work well for me, going on 2nd year.
In my case I found it easier to drill holes along side the existing OEM probes and install the Horst probes in the new holes. Jack
good to hear from you.Why did u find it easier to drill new holes?
My original intention was to remove the factory installed probes, however, when I got in there to do the install, I decided it would be easier to drill a hole along side the installed probe rather than remove it, also, it would leave a spare set just in case I wanted to swap back to an old probe. I couldn't see any down side to leaving the old probes in there.

RE: Fleetwood Pride

Our Pride is a 2004 that has traveled trouble free for over 60,000 miles. My DW and I often go to RV shows and have been through many trailers, at the end of the day, I can honestly say, for our needs and tow vehicle I am well satisfied with our Pride. :)
I've seen about five others in our travels in the last six years.

RE: The "Best of Rockport" Texas????

Texas State Park FAQ.
Someone told me I don’t need a license to fish in a state park. Is this true?
Visitors to Texas State Parks can fish without a license. The exemption applies to anglers of all ages, residents and non-residents. To take advantage of the exemption, you must be within the boundary of a State Park, which usually means fishing from the bank or a pier. For more information, see the Free Fishing in State Parks web pages.

RE: Cleaning Your Motor

Fifty years later, I still remember the smell of a freshly cleaned engine using Gunk. Good stuff. I have always kept my engines clean and ready for inspection at all times until 2005 when I bought a Chevy Duramax.
As I gaze under the hood I realize that moisture in the wrong place could be quite costly, perhaps leading to a sensor or complete wire harness change at the dealership, because the $2500 dollar tester indicates a fault in that system or circuit.
I do squirt a little WD40 on a cloth and wipe down all that I can easily reach under there. Jack

Congrats for not wasting oil. As far as what was in the filter, I don't think it will matter. But then, I've never changed oil weight for the season.

RE: Passport America Failure - Double D, Texola, OK

Mmmmmmm, I just received a card from PPA saying "come back we miss you and will give you $$s off the membership".
I've never been a member of PPA so why would I get this card. And..... I hear so many negative tales like this so why should I send them money?
Campclub USA recently teamed-up with Passport America. If you was a Campclub USA member, then you would automatically be enrolled as a Passport America member. Jack

RE: Minnesota Goes After RV Sales Tax

For what it's worth.
In Illinois the Montana LLC was declared a sham in this case.
THE DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE
OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS
v. Docket # 09-ST-0000
Acct ID: 00000-00000
JOHN DOE
Taxpayer
The evidence in the present case supports the rare finding that for tax purposes,
the corporate entity should be disregarded because it is a sham. The fact that the taxpayer
is the sole member of the LLC and controls the activities of the corporation is not
relevant to this determination.3 The corporation is a sham because the relationship
between the taxpayer and the LLC is so connected that they cannot be separated; the
existence of two entities is an unsupported fiction. The taxpayer intermingled his
personal funds with the corporate funds and did not maintain separate books and records
for the corporation. The taxpayer paid the $5,000 down payment for the RV from his
personal funds. He used his personal vehicle as a trade-in for the RV, and he paid the
balance due on the RV from his personal account. The taxpayer admitted that the
corporation does not have a separate bank account; the taxpayer has one personal bank
account from which he pays all his bills because, as the taxpayer stated, “I am Doe
Farms.” (Tr. p. 31) Because of these facts, for tax purposes, the LLC is not entitled to
recognition as a separate taxable entity

RE: Laptop battery life

To prolong the life of a laptop battery, would it be a good idea to remove it from the laptop when fully charged, leave it in storage, and then run the computer plugged-in to 115vac?
prolong it by NOT using it :h
Sorry...my question was not very clear. I'm sure the battery would last longer sitting on a shelf, but is it harmful to the laptop to operate only on AC without the battery installed?

Something my DW just read on another forum, I'm not so sure it's a good idea, thought I'd ask for your opinions. Thanks, Jack

RE: Looking for an Electric Heater

The heater below was a top rated model by Consumer Reports. Our Costco has a similar one for about half the price that I'm strongly considering to buy.

RE: 06 chevy check engine light

UPDATE ON ENGINE LIGHT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Picked up the truck from the 2nd. dealer this morning. did not not need a new turbo like the 1st. dealer said.
The turbo vane censor had a short in it, so they replaced it to the tune of $968, drove 22 miles home from the dealer at VARIOS speeds and the truck ran like it did before the the 1st dealer worked on it, and of course no check engine light was on. THe 1st dealer diognosed it right then tried to rip me off for a new turbo, i guess $125 an hr. is not enough for some dealers, will not ever go back to the MADERA CHEVY dealer again. But the final verdic is, it was only the turbo vane censor.
Thanks for the follow-up info. Jack

RE: 06 chevy check engine light

The dealer did not charge me for the censor because they did'nt install it. and i have no problem paying for a new turbo if it is needed but to tell me i need a new turbo but can't tell me what is broken when they did'nt even take out the old censor out they just cleaned the connector. On monday if the dealer calls and says that the turbo is broken and you need a new turbo than i"ll be getting a new turbo, hopefully it is still just the censor with only 58,000 miles on the truck it's not even brok in yet , well let you know
Thanks for the update Red Skin Fan, be sure and let us know how this all works out for you. I'm presently in the same boat as you. Jack
