RE: Driving with slide extended?

Folks get this idea from the ESPN-NBA ads on TV where the motorhome is going down the road with the slide out clearly extended.

RE: power in MH while traveling

2005 Dutchstar should have an inverter. It has to be turned on. The controls are in the overhead in front of the passenger seat.

RE: 2000 Bluebird Wanderlodge LXI

Rich D. my best friend had factory reps visit his home and do a smoke test to find all of the leaks. After repairing all of the leaks that were detected, it rained that night. The next morning, there were at least a half dozen wet spots inside the coach. He sold it because of the leaks and the bouncy ride. And this was a show coach.

RE: HWH jack slow on one corner

Larry, are you turning the ignition to "on" to store. When I use "acc", my alarm does not sound. I think that the norm for storage is 4 minutes or so. Suggest you check your owner's manual about lubrication.

RE: HWH jack slow on one corner

Put a little transmission fluid on a rag and rub the jack down with it fully extended.

RE: Need CB antenna

Thanks for the response. It is a new install. Think I have found an CB Shack in Alabama that can fix me up.

Need CB antenna

I need a new CB antenna to install on the top of my motorhome. Newmar factory no longer offers one since their supplier went out of business. It needs to be a ground plane with a flat base to mount on the fiberglas roof. I have done a "Bing" search with no good results.

RE: GOOD SAM HIGHWAYS NORCOLD article

It is my understanding that the new Norcold units do not have any issues with regards to fire potential.

RE: Progressive Insurance....

Take a look at GoodSam GMAC. They beat Progressive by a substantial amount for the same coverage. In the time I was with Progressive, the premium increased every year with zero claims.

RE: HWH jacks

I was having a similar problem. Purchased the biggest shovel handle I could find. Someone siggested rubbing the cylinders with transmission fluid. I have some extra transmission fluid so I put some on a rag and with the jacks fully extended rubbed them down completely. They stored and the travel light came on. Since that time, about every fourth or fifth trip, I use a spray bottle to spray them with transmission fluid and they continue to work as designed.

RE: Banks power systems for gas coach

I have installed the full Banks system on two different motorhomes. They are pricy, but they are HIGH QUALITY. The improvement in performance was outstanding and it solved the manifold problems. Got zero MPG improvement due to a heavy foot and the thrill of hearing that big engine roar. Obviously, I highly recommend the Banks System.

RE: Water tanks showing 1/2 full after emptying

Easy fix - Fill tank with some water and then dump some ice cubes in the tank and head down the road. When you stop, dump the tanks and the probes should be clean. Worth a try due to low cost.

RE: Main breakers in distribution panel

If you are in the coach and using the various 12 volt lights and appliances, you do not have to worry about overcharging. It is just when the unit is parked without being used that you may encounter the issue of over charging the batteries. They sell a battery tender that you can install which will prevent the batteries from over charging but will maintain the batteries at the appropriate level.

RE: Late April, where in mid-south for a week?

Try the Natchez Trace Parkway from Nashville to Natchez. At that time of the year, Natchez and all of the old homes will be pretty and open for tours. You can stay at a couple of campgrounds on the Trace. Good stops include Tupelo, Kosciusko, Port Gibson and French Camp. Don't miss the campground at Rocky Springs just north of Natchez.

RE: Climbing Grades, Advise Please

First - Holding tanks empty and only a limited amount of water on board. I also keep the fuel level in the tow dingy at less than half a tank. Carry no more stuff than necessary. As to actual grade climbing, plan ahead and keep your RPM's up as you are starting the climb. Watch for slow traffic in the right lane and move over to pass slower vehicles before you lose your momentimum. I trust my Allison transmission to know how to best respond if I watch the RPM's. In climbing hills, weight is your enemy and momentimum is your best friend.

RE: Roadside assistance Insurance. Who would you reccommend?

My road service is bundled into my motorhome insurance policy and has served me well when I have needed it. It is just part of my policy.

RE: GM posts biggest profit ever!

Have you checked out your local GM dealer's inventory lately? From what I hear, the dealers are being forced to accept inventory that they do not want and are having a hard time moving. GM sales look great if they just move it to the dealers' lots and the dealer cannot refuse to purchase the inventory under threat of losing their dealership because they don't purchase enough units from the factory. There is an old accountant's saying "Figures don't lie, but liers figure".

RE: KY to River Ranch,FL

Pay the tolls and take the turnpike. Also, avoid Atlanta if at all possible. Look at coming through Ashville, NC and south through South Carolina.

RE: Air bags not filling, now what?

This is not uncommon on my coach. I find that if I build up the air pressure and then move very slowly forward for a few feet and then stop the air bags will start to fill. The earlier posters are correct in the problem and is rather common on Spartan chassis.

RE: driving in and around Atlanta

Come down and stay at Stone Mountain. Great RV park and easy into downtown in your car or on MARTA.
