RE: It's been a year since .....

What do you race?
I have a street legal 64 Ford Falcon Sprint that I drag race. The engine is a stroked 351 windsor. Last spring I raced her at San Antonio Raceway before it went into storage. Was running 10.50's at 125 mph. Sure miss my Falcon. Thanks for asking.:)

RE: It's been a year since .....

I am envious.
Not sure I would have gone with a Super C with trailer, but that is only a matter of personal taste.
I see your rig is a 2005 so it's got some years on it. I think your "Troubles" list is very short & friendly.
Thanks for sharing. Enjoy!
Ron,
We tow the Jeep 4 down, the trailer is for the racecar thats in storage in Texas. Couldn't get rid of my toy. We like a "C" because it feels safer. Later.

RE: It's been a year since .....

After a year, how do you like driving the Super C Endura? What chassis are you driving, and how's the ride and mileage?
It's the 5500 Chevy Kodiak 8.1 gas. I added Supersprings to help with the enclosed trailer and it rides fine just pulling the Jeep. Getting around 7 mpg and we prefer it over a bus.
Also we had the door lock break before we got on the road and that was a nightmare. Glad we were still home and I had the cab doors to get in it to fix it. And I modified a cargo carrier with a reciever to tow the Jeep. The cargo carrier has a cargo box on it for animal food and stuff. Later.

RE: It's been a year since .....

A year ago we put our house on the market and moved into the Endura. The house sold in September. Now we fulltime. Anyone else fulltiming in their Super C? We have 2 dogs and 2 cats traveling with us. Doing the western USA this year and the east in 2013. After that unsure.
Had to replace the mother board for the hot water heater in Tx., fix window shade strings and changed the steps magnet switch in Az.and a water leak up front over the cab in Calif. Not too bad I don't think.
Haven't seen many Super Cs out here. Later.
Jeff
just curious, do you find the Endura cramped at all, I have a 2011 36' ridgeview with the same layout as your endura but with 3 slides
and we are considering giving up the house but feel it may be too small.
We don't think it's too small. What we do know is we brought too much stuff. We've donated somethings (clothes and cookware) that we just don't need. Would be nice if the refrigerator was bigger. One of our dogs is 75lbs. The big dog and the tomcat don't like each other either so things can get ineresting at times. We've been in good weather so you always have outdoors. later.

RE: Ideas to get dog to stop digging under fence & out of yard?

Beside the above...maybe lay down chicken wire fencing ..half laying on the ground and half bent and stapled to the fence..
They can't dig through it and grass can still survive and you can mow over the top of it.
We did this with a previous dog. After awhile she stopped digging and we easily removed the wire. It is inexpensive and comes in all size rolls...HomeDepot, etc.
I did this in a new backyard before I had put down sod. Stapled it to the wood fence then laid the sod on top of it. Good luck.

RE: Rear air bags 2006 Seneca 35GS

Have you heard of Supersprings? I put a set on a few years ago because mine has the 13.5k springs and I usually tow a 24' enclosed trailer. I like that I don't worry about loosing air out of a airbag. The Kodiak rides fine by itself too. Check them out here clicky.

Took us not much over an hour to park and register on Thursday morning. We got here about 8:30. We've enjoyed it so far, seminars and stuff. Rode bikes today instead of the tram.:)

RE: How did you handle "aging parent" issue?

It is a tough situation to be in. My Dad is the only parent left and is now in nursing care. We've been on the road for 6 months. Dad has kind of given up and the "home" says it wouldn't matter if we were there or not. He and Mom fulltimed for 4 or 5 years then were snowbirds. He tells us to have a good time and he'll be ok. My only brother died a 1 1/2 years ago so it's just me.
Would Step-dad go to assisted living also? None of it's cheap but they know what to do in case of emergency. Good luck.

RE: Window Tinting & More

Check the state where the rv is licensed for allowable tint percentages. I tinted mine in Colorado in 2007, just moved to Texas and had to take it off the cab door windows(too dark - 20%). Also Texas allows 25% so I had my Jeep done with 25% before we left Colorado and forgot to allow for the factory tint. Had to peel it off the door windows to pass inspection. Their gauge said my windows were 23%. Had both retinted to pass Texas law.

RE: Texas d/l headache

This is what I posted on the Escapees website.
So, I now have my DL licence with the correct address, my Livingstion mailing address on it!
Here's what happened. After we were turned away, we contacted Escapees again and the following day were provided with a copy of a letter written by the former Chief of the DL Division of the Texas Department Public Safety to a Rep Otto (House of Reps). It was written in 2009 and references Article 13 of HB2730. Basically he said any rule or policy adopted by the Department regarding that article would not target Escapess and that the Department would make any accomodations necessary for any resident encountering difficulty because of any rule of policy adopted to impletment that article. I called the New Braunfels DMV and asked to speak to the clerk that assisted us because I wanted to email it to her, but she was not available and instead, the supervisor called me. She had never seen this letter before and knew nothing about it. She noted that it was signed by someone no longer holding that position in their Department and I thought - great, we would get anywhere with this. But instead, she forwarded it immediately to someone in Austin and promised to call as soon as she heard something. Later that day, she called and said she had not heard back yet but decided to allow us to use our mailing address on our DL app and arranged for us to go straight to the head of the line at the same office in the morning (this morning) to fix it at no additional charge.
We walked in the office and all 3 clerks greeted us by name! Obviously, they were expecting us. We got our addresses updated. But the made a point of saying they had not yet been authorized to allow this for anyone else (so apparently still no answer from Austin). When we got home, we called back to talk with the woman from Escapees that had been helping us just to let her know we resolved our issue. She understood the point we were trying to make... other Escapees could have the same trouble (in fact a few others have recently experienced the same problem at other DMV sites) because of this "new" law the DMV referenced, and she had already escalated to Angie who was going to escalate it herself. Hopefully, this will soon be cleared up and all the DMV offices will be on the same page. Thank you all for your suggestions and for bearing with me.

RE: Texas d/l headache

We actually called Escapees while in the DL office. They could not provide anything to support the statement that our Livingston address is a LEGAL PHYSICAL ADDRESS recognized by the US District Court and by the Texas Legislature. Or at least nothing the DL office would accept. We did provide every piece of documentation they could want, and filled out the forms correctly as if this was our residential address, just happened that the DL clerk recognized it as a mailing service address.
Going to Livingston would mean driving four hours one direction just to take care of this.... and I shouldn't have to. The DL is a STATE thing, not county. Even Escapees said that. What the DL office kept saying to us was that we needed a physical address, any physical address, it could be a friend's or relatives, etc. I said not everyone who is an Escapee will actually knows someone in Texas to use their address. Then they wanted us to use the address of the RV resort we are at (for 3 more days! which would then show on our licences!). Apparently, there is a new law that says you need a physcial address in case there is an emergency and your next of kin needs to be notified. So, instead of accepting the Livingston address that has a record of our emergency contacts, and is always manned, they took the address of a vacant peice of land where sending the police will be a waste of time. Like I said, Escapees will get back to me but this has to be resolved or anyone new to Escapees without a physical address expecting to get a DL could have this problem.
Doesn't it seem odd that they would accept any address? They didn't ask for any proof of the address we finally provided (vacant lot) so we could have made something up... seems very strange.

RE: Texas d/l headache

Nowhere on the Escapees website does it say to come to Livingston to do this. Maybe it should. I am in touch with Escapees to resolve this issue but according to them you do not need to go to Livingston.

RE: Texas d/l headache

We filled out the form at the from the dmv. There are 2 places for an address one says residence and the other asys mailing address. We put our Escapees address in the residence place and the clerk said that it wasn't our physical address it is a PMB (personal mail box)and could not be used. We had everything else that was needed to get the d/l.
We planned on fulltiming for a couple of years then settling in Texas at out little property. So instead of going to South Dakota we came here. Now there will be a goofy address combining our property and Escapees address on it. Just nuts.
