RE: Do I need a bigger Truck

You're overloaded now I imagine - at least in TV payload. That Montana had the second heaviest pin weight of the 2003 fleet.

RE: Spring Hanger question

Yes you can use one or both holes for desired hight. While you have the bolts out replace the plastic bushings with wet bolts and bronze bushings. They are not expensive.X2

Ron, Add this info to your last post - don't open a new one.

RE: Do I need slider or not?

Try without first. I doubt you will need one for that rig, because the pin box is extended out pretty far. If you get a Reese and find you need one, you can add it later.

RE: Backup Camera

Are you aware of how wireless systems work? If not, here is the deal. A wireless unit is wireless only from the truck to the camera transmitter which can be installed anywhere on the trailer. So if you put the transmitter in the proper location it will work flawlessly. If you get lazy and do a poor install you get bad coverage. Apparently the people you reference are in the second group. Mine works well BTW. I hope this is helpful. That's how your's works - but it looks like flifisher's works different.

Frank, What part is argumentative in this post?

RE: Question! 6 - 8lug 16" wheels

Lots of this don't make sense to me. Your tire dealer sold you G614 tires not knowing your wheel rating? Second thing is a 7k axle with six lugs? There is a reason you can't find 110 PSI wheels in a six lug pattern. How much weight is on your axles? Many G614 owners don't run full pressure if it's not needed. At any rate if your current wheels aren't rated to 110 PSI, don't put that much in as they will seperate. Usually stamped on the back side.X2 - something is not right and I think it is your axles are not 7K. I got sold some G tires on the road after shredding my 4 factory tires on our 2003 with 6 lug. I never found any wheels that would take the 110psi. There just ain't no such thing. I had to settle for 80 psi

RE: How much travel for front stabilizer jacks on a fifth wheel?

Yours is a Z-frame your travel length may be shorter than those with the old standard frames.

RE: Chucking

As noted, sometimes it is just a matter of loading. Playing with that may solve your problem. But a new pin box can help also. I had very little chucking on mine, and that was mostly just on certain concrete highways. I replaced the stock pin box with a 5th Airborne air cushioned pin box and it eliminated virtually all the chucking that I did have. Plus eliminates some of the shock from the trailer and makes the truck ride better.X2 on the 5th Airborne. I think any of the pin boxes designed to minimize chucking do what they say.

RE: Home theatre combo 5.1 with DVD and Am\Fm

They sure come up with fancy names for a $49 unit. Our "2000 something" quit within a few days of the warranty running out. I just got a replacement at Wallmart - RCA I think. I just kept the old speakers that were built into the cabinet. The only feature I lost was the old one would power speakers to the bedroom separately (Like and A/B speaker button). I couldn't find a replacement that would do that.

RE: Balancing Tires

yep - thats what Goodyear put in mine. rubber clad brass stems.

RE: Balancing Tires

Before calling rubber stems cheap - are you sure your metal stems are even rated? Let alone built in the US? When I had my tires installed by Goodyear, they refused to use the metal stems because there were not rated for pressure.

I have aversions to mothballs myself. My luck, I would be outside and the mice would be inside. :B

RE: Replace stock shocks?

Now that would be talent - noticing the difference with new shocks on the trailer - I didn't notice the difference when my wheel fell off! :B Mine is actually "shockless". Hmmm, I wonder if shocks/lack of are noticed more on heavier rigs maybe? Or less even? I've seen two sides to this in the limited posts about the subject. Some claim nothing is needed, others say it made a difference in bouncing and less re-arranged kitchen items. Actually with 6 tires I could understand not noticing one missing for a while, at least if it wasn't loaded perhaps.I was told by Mor-Ryde that mine doesn't have shocks because shocks actually interfere with the function of the rubber sheer on the LRE system, yet they offer the RE system with shocks. I don't think I'll ever know the answer, but mine seems to ride OK without them. I would have to have some shock towers welded on to actually install shocks on mine. If you replace them, just verify the travel distances are correct. I had a buddy add some from Pep Boys that seemed to fit and he wrecked the shocks and towers because they wouldn't extend as far as the original ones.

RE: Replace stock shocks?

Did a search for this info but did not find anything useful. I had 6 tires replaced this weekend and noticed there are 6 very cheap looking shocks on my rig and I started wondering if anyone has replaced their shocks, and if so, was there a noticable difference or any recommendations? Brand, type, don't bother? Thanks all!Now that would be talent - noticing the difference with new shocks on the trailer - I didn't notice the difference when my wheel fell off! :B Mine is actually "shockless".

RE: Question about using overdrive

Those were not known to be the best transmissions - On my 2000 the transmission went out at 55K miles. Use common sense but if you know you are loading it down I would turn the OD off. The 7.3 was a great engine, backed by a not so good transmission. My current Torqueshift is a fantastic transmission, motivated by a not so good engine. go figure.

RE: Balancing Tires

Now here is a twist - There are some wheels on the RV that not all shops can balance properly. I learned that with our factory alloy wheels, they need to be balanced with an adapter that secures the wheels at the lugs instead of the center. Lugcentric I believe it is called, versus hubcentric. Get them balanced to be sure - ya you might luck out and not need it, but then you might start losing windows out of your RV and wonder why the light fixtures are always on the floor or your cabinet doors keep opening on the highway. Why take the chance. I physically rode in the back of mine with the DW driving using 2-way radios. Amazing what a bad balance on a 55 lb G614 feels like at 60mph.

RE: Help with narrowing brands down - Modern Interiors

FWIW, this is the kind of "style" I would like to able to buy in a 5th wheel. http://pinterest.com/buymodernbaby/modern-motorhome/You probably would like the Domani - but they are no longer made. http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL1523/6528899/12657597/402408971.jpg Carriage-Domani

RE: Do They Still Make Mission Brand Tires?

Tireco did not make the tires they were or are a us distributor of imported tiresX2 they are just a boatyard distributer of China tires. They did serve as the warranty agent for Mission tires, but the replacements were another Chinese brand. Keystone could not obtain Mission tires as far back as 2007 when I had a warrantly claim. They ended up giving me a cash credit.

RE: Buy local or drive 9 hours?

Maybe on the RV side - the warranty work is hard to profit on?
