RE: Under Chassis Storage

I looked at those too, but I had issues with the curve at the bottom of our sidewall. The storage cabinets were going to stick out or wouldn't open all the way - I don't remember.

RE: LP GENERATORS

I would just fix the problem before I ran off and converted to gasoline. It is not normal to have that problem.

RE: Pulling double trailers

hahaha - no wonder we need judges. I've never seen so many ways to twist a sentence to make it work for your argument. :B
Stand back - read it again and take it for what it says and stop trying to read into it. Two units is two units, not three.

RE: what is your break controller set for

I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the condtion of the brakes and the weight of the trailer. X2
I'm assuming as the brakes wear the number needs to go up until you manually re-adjust or replace the brakes, then you have to reset the controller by doing a pull test.
Whe we trader our last rig in I was driving it to the Dealer empty. When making a turn I looked in mirror and noticed that the tires were smoking every time I used the brakes. I had to back the controller down to 4 from 6 to make it stop. Weight is a big factor.
Not only does the trailer brake condition affect the setting, but the TV brake condition does as well. Assuming you have a factory integrated brake controller, it uses brake master cylinder line pressure to determine how much brake output to send to the trailer. The harder you have to push the TV brakes, the more the trailer brakes get actuated. Ironically, the better your TV brakes, the less pressure you apply with your foot, and the less power sent to the trailer brakes. It is counterintuitive.I would think the only thing that might change the required braking pressure would be changing to a different type of pad. Pressure should be consistent with wear on the same brake pad, with fluid displacing any difference in travel of the caliber as the pad wears. In other words I believe the TV braking is pretty consistent, which makes the integrated controller the magic that it is.

RE: Montana or Cedar Creek

Pick the one you like - you're wasting time trying to analyse the quality. They are both inconsistent within themselves let alone as competitors.

RE: Pulling double trailers

A fifth wheel setup is not a trailer, it's a fifth wheel and you can attach a trailer to it and you are legal, the thing you need to consider is the length, that's where you'll be breaking the law.Don't hold on to that argument in front of the patrol - you will lose.

I have a 33 ft Copper Canyon and a one ton dully Dodge a 1963 model truck, pulling I get about 13 and without the trailer on the road I can get about 23.
Theres a pic I'd like to see.Must have that slant-6 (aka lazy-6) with a 3-on-the-tree. :B

Mine has climbed a little since the trailer was new. It's now 6.5 and I punch it up to 7.5 when going through the Rockies.

RE: Help does this sound odd

This has been brought up a couple of times on new units here in the forum. It seems Keystone needs to find out who is doing that at the factory, or even at Lippert. You did good to hold your ground.
PS- be wary, what you have is a problem but I don't think that would cause the brake warning on your controller. You physically need a open wire to cause that signal. Don't be surprised if after all that work you still have the problem, OR they actually find a cut wire on the magnet inside the hub and they fix it for you. Ours came from the factory with both wires completely cut on one magnet inside the hub, and it drove me crazy on the controller until the Dealer found it.

RE: caulking

As stated - ProFlex is great stuff. It is a little harder to put on than standard silicone, as it sets fast.
Dicor on the roof and edges of the roof - self leveling on horizontal surfaces and standard on the sides where there is a vertical surface.

RE: Montanna LLC

The bringing of criminal charges isn't limited to the State one's depriving of its money...
Oregon, a no-sales-tax State, has provisions that identify this practice as a Class A Misdemeanor and WILL charge out-of State residents if they're caught.
They also report the falsifier to their States of Lawful Residency AND keep whatever money has been paid.
Needless to say, there's a relatively low incidence of this kind of nonsense there.
Oregon DMV: Lawful ResidencyCan you explain why OR has far more registered boats, airplanes, motorhomes, etc than people.
Maybe the folks there enjoy adult toys more than folks in other states - (MT excluded) ..:WIs the ratio higher in Oregon than in other states? Just curious - as I would suspect it is not that unusual anywhere. I believe the two of us have 7 registered vehicles.

RE: ST vs LT tires

You keep referring to the Firestone/Ford issue in 2000 as a big "eye opener" in the tire industry. Was this because Ford was involved and it caught a little extra spotlight? I know it wasn't the first tire issue Firestone has had that caused injury and resulted in a massive recall (circa 1978).

RE: 12 volt vs 6 volt batteries

My 6-volt are golf cart batteries, which I assume are designed for charger abuse.
I did install the battery maintenance module on my converter that steps down the charge to a trickle charge when they are full. Depending on the converter you have, it may already be built in.

RE: Electric Refrigerator with Inverter Questions

The residential fridge would be a disadvantage and a hassle if you do a lot of dry campi9ng, but for those that travel plug to plug the residential seems to be the way to go. Just noticed about 50% of the MH at the show this weekend were residential running on inverters.

RE: ST vs LT tires

.........XPS Ribs 235.xxx weigh 56 lbs. each , Duravis 235.xxx weigh 59 lbs . !!?? Ribs have a 2 layer steel matrix in the sidewall , and , I'm assuming the Dura's do as well .......both are rated for 3,042 lbs. load capacity . Doesn't take much thought to understand , WHY either of these very UNder rated tires are being mounted on 5'vers with weights up to 16,000 pounds and lasting many miles without many blowouts or damage to the trailer wheel area .
..........And , I'm quite confident that the Ribs are just as strong as the GY 614s rated at 3,750 lbs. each ! , jfIf you are putting the ribs on something with a higher axle rating or GVWR than the tire is rated for, you may have a hard time getting a tire shop to install them. Even if you feel comfortable with it, they most likely will not.

RE: Montanna LLC

Guess you got the wrong guy, PAL. I have payed every nickle in license fees to the state of CO on every thing I have had since I have had a drivers license. Except for our ATV's. Do your research and you will see CO DOES NOT license ATVs so we have to get them out of state so we can ride the roads in AZ. Every job I have ever had has paid taxes to CO. Most every thing I have ever purchased has had CO sales tax paid. YES I have paid my fair share, PAL. I just dont like how they been ramming it to us, PALYour the one that started the rant by grabbing my quote - if your doing nothing wrong and just want to rant - good for you. If your falsifying letters in Wyoming for residency..well you can live with yourself.

RE: Montanna LLC

It's fraud, which is why it seems too good to be true!
Colorado recovered several million dollars on that sting. Colorado has a Department of Revenue hotline to call in suspected violators, and they DO follow up.
Channel 9
The pathetic truth is people act like they did nothing wrong! Montana plates on their $350,000 MH but Colorado plates on their toad! C'mon - how about adding to it that they are being paid by Colorado State Parks to reside in the park as a campground host! They probably have never been to Montana!
It's expensive for all of us that live here, especially when many are taking a free ride.
$1350 a year (Thats over $25 a week, almost twice what our property tax on our house is)to license our signature RV when our "06" Bighorn was less than $300 a year. That unsuspected ram in the fanny is enough to make anyone fraudulent. Colorado is the crook here as far as I am concerned.Crooks as we may be - why should I brunt the financial burden for you to stay here! If you can't afford your toys, don't get them :M
Lived in Co since 1945 and I still live here. Until the last 2-3 years license fees were decent. All my Licensed vehicles, you call toys, fees have skyrocketed AFTER I HAD ALREADY PURCHASED THEM. I AM NOT YOUR FINANCIAL BURDEN!! I HAVE PAYED MY DUES!! :M:MOh but you are my financial burden - you're not paying your share pal. And I don't like it.
